A bit of trivia: the spaceship depicted is either the Orion VII or the Orion VIII from the German sci-fi TV series "Space Patrol". It first aired in 1966 (in black and white), had a voice over at the beginning (like Star Trek) and a multi-national crew. (Again, like ST). It was Germany's first Sci-Fi series, was shown in several different countries around Europe and has attained cult status in Germany.
IMHO one of the few decent adaptations in that series. I also enjoyed AutoFac, Safe and Sound, and Kill All Others...the rest I found just not that interesting and too long tbh
I saw the Electric Dreams movie. As for the ending, my guess is that since the light show guy had the ability to change what the planet looked like outside, that means the entire outside world is seen through digital view screens that can alter the image, so the planet always was ok but the viewscreens, including the viewscreens in the space suits, altered the images..to make the planet look dangerous..not directly by the pilots, but from other programming in the main system. If the data about the planet was altered and the video of the planet is also changed, then everyone thinks that it's a dead planet. It could be that the travels of the woman somehow changed her aging process, but that's still confusing.
Should we let THE FUTURE know that Pluto is merely one of roughly 30 dwarf planets elliptically circling around our 8-planet system?? Nah; they probably know.
