Hi Luke, One suggestion for you to consider is to extend the intake tube of your hangover filter. Yours is too short, so it may always circulate the upper half water. With a deep intake tube, you can build a large circle circulation and make your hangover filter more effective. Thank you for all your effort in facilitating goldfish keeping knowledge. Keep it up 👍
I wanted to do that but the extension is too long, I may end up cutting it down so it fits

How do you get your goldies to trust you. I saw in your other vids they kinda let you hold them, I thought that was so cool. I just got 2 common goldfish and I would like to be able to hold them
Start your training when they’re young otherwise they won’t trust you when you clean their tank and never under any circumstances use soap it will cause them to pass away I had a betta who left this earth due to a real seashell but I didn’t know that at the time so that was a good lesson for me to never purchase a live seashell as a decoration for my tank I own 5 goldfish and plan to begin their training this week or next just like I did when I had my fantail goldfish Orange Crush when he was a baby
He gone now though but he was my first goldfish for a grown up

Hi Luke I am your new subscriber from India. I learn a lot about new about aquarium fishes. I absolutely adore Angelfishes but you will hate to know that I hate Goldfishes. I do not in the UA-cam I find dedicated channels for Goldfishes and Bettas but no one want to cover the beautiful majestic Angelfishes which just saddened me a lot.
Also if you guys put a bag around your sponge filter before you take it out it will catch any debris that would’ve fallen back I to the tank.

I recently inherited, or rather rescued, a 7yro common goldfish from a roommate that moved out and left it behind. I know nothing about caring for a single goldfish, so I’m trying to educate myself.
I see that you didn’t replace the filter, but only squeezed it somewhat cleaner. I assume you did this to keep some “good bacteria” in the tank. I threw mine away as it was packed solid with debris. Was I wrong to do this?

What is the best 2ft aquarium gold fish tank filter
4 fancies - do you think a 40 breeder (Tidal 110 + Tidal 50 HOB) bare bottom tank, do you think that’s too small? I have a 125 gallon that only has 2 Rainbows and about 10 Corydoras but it’s planted and has sand/gravel mix. I’m afraid they been so used of eating the pellets directly off the bare bottom that they’ll have problems with an actual substrate. And I know if I remove the substrate I’m pretty sure there might be a small cycle from loosing some of the BB. They been in the 40 gallon for about 1 1/2 years and the 125 been up for about 8 years. TIA 🙏

Hey Luke I had a question, you have inspired me to eventually own a veiltail goldfish I wanted to know what’s better for them a 20 gallon high or long or do you recommend something else? Also is it true that you need 10 times as much filtration for example a 20 gallon aquarium needs a 200 gallon per hour power filter? Sorry for so many questions I just want my goldfish to thrive
On his website he has a article about how to pick the right tank size for your goldfish, might be helpful to you, it was for me :)
Long is probably better than high, all else being equal. More surface area equals more gas exchange, but its not gonna make a huge difference.
If you have room for a 20long then you could get, like, a 30g with the same footprint right? Bigger is always better obviously.
Long because height does not matter much when you have goldfish and in general long is better than high
