Nobara, Maki and Mai are perfect examples of how to make powerful and well written female characters without fan service or tying their entire personality to their romantic interest alone.

The best written characters aren't always the most powerful or popular, they are sometimes the most misunderstood and disliked. But obviously people tend to love the "good guys" and hate the "bad guys" in fiction, so it all comes down to personal preferences I guess.
nobara is proof that you can right a lovable female character without fan service
the writer actually put the time to make a female character equal to its other male characters, gave them depth instead of just being there and this anime one of the few animes that doesn’t center its strengths on male characters but its distributed ALL characters. No damsels in distress they all are capable of holding their own
@@awesomesaucy3549 to be fair look at who is going to be the strongest... gojo and sakuna, along with a multitude of male villains. They very easily could leave the female characters (and many male ones) in the shadow of the lead. It happened in Naruto. (Not that their women were written well, but everyone male and female got shoved far to the side for the 4 main people) Kakashi (gojo) naruto (yuji) Sasuke (probably megumi) and whoever the villain of the arc is. This anime could at any point slip up and ruin all their good writing by making everyone useless aside from the lead.
@@ryanblack3686 idk if you've read the manga so i don't want to spoil anything but maki gets insanely strong and the special grade sorcerer, yuki, the one who trained todo, shows herself again at a crucial time. unlike naruto, we actually have a lot of unknown details to the female characters in jjk

真希さんかっこいいし憧れるけど、感情移入できるのは真依さんかな。
精神的にも身体能力的にも普通の女の子なのに、呪力を使えなくても努力する姉がいるから｢呪術師｣になる道を背くことが出来なかったんだと思う。
川を走ってる時の真希の前髪が風圧でふわーーって後ろにいくのとそこで本人の体幹まったくぶれないまま動いていく描写が好きすぎる 神作画
My favorite thing about this anime is the fact that the female characters are not girly/princesses that need to be rescued. They can hold themselves down in a fight. But to be fair, we have yet to see them fight a guy 1-on-1. (Yes, I have read the manga, only talking about the anime atm).
I mean there is noting wrong with being girly, Nobara can be quite girly, she likes fashion and all that, what sucks is when they are damsels in distress

But rather than that i think it's much more amazing not because they are just "not damsel in distress" but they are really a girl who have a chatacer. There are girls who wants to be girly sometimes and other time she wants to be something else. What i see on every anime is a girl who either really strong but there for the main protag, a man hater, or a really girly kind girl. But no one really potrayed the a "realistic" girl character. That's why i think Nobara is really amazing.

I genuinely love Mai, she's not very strong compared to the other characters but she still gives off a strong and baddass aura. I find her character very relatable and interesting. Wish we got to see more of her...

i get that this is an emotional moment for mai, but I rlly hate characters that get angry at others for chasing their ambitions
Maki chasing her ambitions meant that Mai was forced to become a sorcerer as well. She couldn't walk by a curse as a kid due to how scared she was, and wanted nothing more than a safe life. Now she has to risk her life fighting monstrosities with a shitty cursed technique and no special talents. Maki dragged her into a life she never wanted, and never really gave a shit about it.
Not to blame Maki too much, as this situation is the Zenin clan's fault, but I get why Mai's so upset.

@@plant707 Yeah but like Maki said not becoming a sorceror for her would’ve meant hating herself, so she had to choose between dreading the life she lived despising ever minute of it choosing to do more for herself and having Mai go through the hell of being a sorceror with her.
Their relationship is honestly rippled and torn and its the reason why I hate the Zenin clan so much bc it drove a wedge between them, that wedge being their autonomy. Though later on it is served a little bit of solace. But thats all in the manga and I will not spoil.

well, she technically did. if she used her actual hammer instead of the squeaky one, momo’s head would be obliterated. she used the squeaky hammer for safety reasons, so momo doesn’t get injured badly/die

I believe that we are the ones that decide what we become and what path we choose to walk through. But the problem here is they were born as a "minority" in a prestigious clan that worships nothing more than power... I think Mai is just a victim to her family's act, she was forced to become a sorcerer by her family. I think later in the manga we will see , that maki heavily regrets her decision , her decision on leaving her behind in the hands of the zenin. Is maki at fault then ? Is she wrong for wanting to create her own path ? For wanting power so she can stand on her own , not binded by her family ?
In my opinion, maki is not wrong. But the way she did it, is just one of the path she choose, and unfortunately it was not the "happy" one... But that's ok though, we make a lot of decision, we take a lot of paths we walk through, and there will always be a path we choose that is not the "happy ending", it happens everytime. So i think this is just the manifestation of that choice. This is just one of the paths they choose to walk through, and unfortunately, it wasn't the "happy" one.

It's amazing how Jujutsu Kaisen have both some of the most lovable and badass female characters in anime (Nobara, Maki, Miwa) but also some of the lamest female characters as well (Mai, and especially Momo).
I dont think Momo and Mai are lame char, but for me Momo speach was pretty pointless since Maki is proof that Mai doesn't have to be like she is, and Mai isn't also one of my fav because the thing she said to Nobara and Megumi about Itadori. I didn't read the manga so I am guessing they are going to be more important there.
