The score was excellent and the lead Actress did a amazing job considering the very little dialogue. An like you I didn’t even notice the lack of dialogue basically until the one line in the second act that was spoken. Her performance 🎭 definitely deserves some accolades. Not for everyone, but in a industry where original content is in a drought this was a nice oasis. 8/10 🦴 from me.
We need to define what "done well" means for Disney though. Will it make money like Marvel movies? Or is making it's budget back and 25-50% more in profit is enough?
I watched it last night, went in completely blind, and loved it. Very well made and a great performance from the lead actress (without saying anything). Nice to be surprised by a film for once..
I really liked it. I didnt notice Brynn didnt talk until about a half hour in, when she got on the bus. Then I realized no one talked at all up to that point. Obviously it does a brilliant job of 'show, dont tell'
Of all the streaming services making their own movies, Hulu has found their niche and seem like they captured the lightning in the bottle again much like they did with Prey last year. And it's a shame too, because this and Prey are both films I think could have been great in cinema.
The problem I have with the movie is that the Aliens clearly have insane powers(demonstrated by alien in the third act simply moving its hand and sending Bryn through a wall) yet somehow she was able to kill three of them in comical fashion. It’s such a shame because the movie had so much potential to be extremely scary and terrifying however if you start thinking about the movie on any logical level it falls apart instantly. Especially since it was set in 2022-2023 and she didn’t have a cell phone or any electronics which could’ve easily been handled by setting the movie in the 70’s/80’s. Just weird choices all around that completely took me out of the movie.
I actually feel like it was one of those movies where it’s never said what type period it’s set in, cuz funnily enough to me I felt like it was set in the 70s, so that is kind of subjective however I do agree that she was able to kill them way to easily. It is often noted that Greys are actually very weak creatures and their strength lies in their telepathic communication, which they do easily best her with in the end. But still, they should’ve taken some inspo from Home Alone and have her kill them in a more cunning way

Watched this one a couple nights ago, and was so pleasantly surprised by it. It was such a cool juxtaposition of hitting classic UFO mythology (and definitely some shades of Signs, for instance) while also managing to feel very unique. Acting was great and some wonderful cinematography/striking visals too. So great - honestly a shame it wasn't in theaters! Funny -- I didn't realize that about the talking at all until you mentioned it! It's so tense and has great sound design, I didn't even register that.
Everything about this movie works. The score was great. Kaitlyn Deaver's performance was solid. Especially when she had to actually perform the role. Have loved her ever since Last Man Standing. The ending was strange, but I understood. Would like to have known what the alien's actually intent was. Should have gotten a theatrical release. 20th Century has been killing it the past year, their track record has been better than Disney.
Spoiler*** I was hoping the neck tentacle blob was actually a parasite infesting multiple species around the universe, hence the different types of greys, and would be a cool spin on how a parasite that takes control of an advanced civilization also has control of their tech too. Kinda like the Flood from Halo.
It is a classic case of another one of those films we think to ourselves “why was this not released in theatres?!”. The only things I didn’t like about it was that it could have done with more practical effects but the CGI was not bad compared to recent films and I was not too fond of the wacky ending but that said *SPOILER* below in my theory about the ending maybe she was still stuck in her alien parasite possessed coma dream while the alien parasite controls her body like what was starting to happen with most of the town which I could cross off as a negative if that’s the case as it would be a open/downer ending akin to the theory about the ending of John Carpenter’s The Thing
Pretty sure it wasn't a dream. She just accepted it as she accepted herself at the end. The grays released her because they understood her and realized she would probably go along with it due to her own previous alienation. So it's a happy ending for her but a very messed up one.
Yes. First thing i thought in the opening 20 mins (during the first "hainting" sequence) was i wish i could have watched this in cinema with surround sound and a giant dark screen cos it was scary on my small tv but in a theatre it would be terrifying!

I enjoyed it but I did feel it was quite a bit of a mess, especially tonally. It felt like a bit of a mish mash of other movies thrown in a blender, bit of Signs, bit of Alien, some Body Snatchers, a touch of The Mist etc... Some of the aliens stuff made me laugh, there was no tension. There was a definite 'extract of Coen brothers' in there too...none of it fit together. Not for me. Generic aliens, yeah, a decent effort to make them interesting though, but highly inconsistent. The only alien death that worked was the first one, a surprise to both the alien and audience alike, but the others, the little cartoon like alien with big claws, it almost never uses, prances about like something out of bugs bunny and goes out of it's way to NOT catch her. Wtf? And that tag line, 'There are over 1.65m home invasions per year'...yeah? And? What the fek does this have to do with the movie beyond aliens invade and she's in a house, you know, like almost all human beings! The *First* one was *Great*
I *Know* the *Agenda* here, Good that I *didn't* waste *Time* because those *2 Hours* that I *will* Never get back, I was able to get it *Back* into something *My Workout* (Which the Alien reminds Me of *Cloverfield)*
The *Ending* is *Trash* but it was *kind* of *Creative* especially the *No Dialogue*
Given the *Extreme Fear* that *while* going through a *Life or Death* situation it also may *Inhibit* You to *Speak.*
I don't know throughout the *Whole* Goddamn *Movie.*
But I gotta give *Credit* where *Credit* is due, the *Cinematics* and *Sound Designs* where *Off The Radar* but the *Lens Flares* more than *Star Trek* almost *Blinded Me* Soundtrack from *"Trapanese"* (Really pushing it with the Calling here)
Was *Really* Good. Didn't *Give* a *shit* about the *End Credits* so *I* skipped it.
*I* just *Miss* the *Times* where The *Male* Characters where the Leading *Heroes*
That's *All* I *Gotta* Say
watched yesterday. its trash about nothing, movie clearly has identity crysis. its silly, at moments boring, cliche stuff, absurd ideas, unnecessary 30-40mins of crap on and on and on. watched for free, wasted time.
You probably unironically liked Master of Disguise when you were younger.
@@YEETMcSKEET69 no idea what are you talking about, im stating my opinion about medicore "no one will save you". did you even watch it?
@@zbigniewiksinski
Yeah I did. It was good. Really good. But it makes you think which is where I think you have a problem with it.
@@YEETMcSKEET69 u must have a great day keyboard metalhead warrior. glad that snooze fest made u entertained, its very important.
Niqqa where you watched it for free? 😂😂😂😂 u bs keybord princess
This is an irritating let down
So many good ideas but the cgi is shite, so many inconsistencies and so much plot armour. Has some good qualities like the actress and score but the stupidity of the aliens, the stupidity of the lead actress at times just irriated me and ruined what coukd have been an amazing unique film.
