Four Years of Accomplishments

"Four years ago, President Donald Trump asked me to undertake what has been the experience of a lifetime - the opportunity to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Both President Trump and I shared a new vision for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, one which was one built on measuring success not by how many people we added on to government assistance, but how many people we were able to lift up, off government assistance and onto the path of self-sufficiency.
The governing philosophy, which guided all of our work at HUD, is simple: freedom works better than regulation; self-sufficiency is superior to dependence; and liberty is most achievable when it is derived of the people, by the people, for the people.
I have seen firsthand the dedication of my HUD staff, and I have been so incredibly moved by the efforts from the HUD team over the last four years to elevate America’s forgotten men and women.
Serving in the Trump Administration has been the honor of a lifetime. Only in the land of opportunity can a poor, inner city boy go on to become a brain surgeon, a candidate for President, and then, one day, a Cabinet Secretary.
Thank you, President Trump, for this opportunity, and for the courage you display every day. You are an inspiration to so many Americans. Thank you to my beautiful wife Candy; my children; my grandchildren; and all my family and friends for their constant love and support.
