But in this case, the shot wasn't off his hand, so the contact to the elbow affected the shot.
There was nothing controversial about that call. They explained the rule clearly and you obviously missed it. When Shai hit PJ in the arm he hasn’t released the shot yet, thus IT IS a foul by the book. Had Shai hit the ball after PJ release it and then got him in the arm then it is deemed incidental. It was all explained in the broadcast and you were clearly not paying attention.

As a Bulls fan who witnessed that infamous game, I'm not haunted by that call, but by the fact that so many people don't want to call out that these phantom fouls or no calls happen when NY or LA are involved and it's not greed, it's ethnocentrism. Shaq had the balls to start to say it to Adam Lefcoe, but pivoted to "the media" which is still a kind of euphemism for "you people".
I prefer OKC to the Mavs but I still thought the refs really hurt the Mavs way more than the Thunder during this game. I feel like the Mavs were clearly the better team in that game, especially in the interior sector. In slow motion, even before the contact with the arm, you see SGA's hand contact Washington's right pinky. Initial contact was still ball imo... and I don't know the rules enough to know if that changes anything.
Fell asleep before the halftime of this game, but am okay with it as tonight's is more important. Rooting for Nuggets, but expecting the winner to go all the way to the title. And I agree that Dallas should be praying for a Denver series if they hope to go beyond the Conference Finals.
I see no problem with the outcome. OKC was the least likely to win it all out of the 4 remaining West teams. They beat the injured pelicans and struggled againts a hobbled Luka. The refs even allowed them to mug Luka the entire series. They should not complain about officiating cause not only was it in their favor, but their best player relies on initiating contact to live on the line.
I've been saying this all season and especially through the playoffs, SGA literally refuses to drop more than 32 points XD. He always gets there, but he never exceeds it which is so crazy to me.
I got Timberwolves! Its been a while since I've been excited about a team other than teh Lakers but I love this team, their energy, Anthony Edwards is an amazing young leader, I love how he plays, he leads, I hope they make it to the Finals and I think they have a real shot if the refs let them defend !
I’m a fan of 3 teams, the Cavs Nets and Wolves (I only root for the Mavs because of Kyrie and so grateful Joe Tsai was stupid enough to send him there). For the Cavs, it was Ricky Rubio before the injury man. For the Nets, it was Bruce Brown, I still love him. For the Wolves, it was Jimmy Butler and after him it’s basically everyone 😂
I would love to watch an entire NBA without players throwing their hands in the air and eyeballing the refs. Grown men acting like children is hard to watch. However, these younger crews like Okc and Minnesota are playing the game the right way. Same with Denver and a few others. Great to see. I feel like we all got fooled by Durant, Westbrook, LeBron, Harden - players that just can't commit to playing both ends or team ball.
It's a foul because pj didn't release the ball. The rule book says if pj would have released the ball before contact with the arm, it wouldn't have been a foul but because he still had the ball in his hand when there was contact with his arm its a foul
I'll say this as a Mavs fan when it comes to Luka talking to the refs. I'm half and half. Yeah, Luka should just shut up and focus on the game because the refs aren't going to help. If anything, they'll probably make it worse for annoying them so much. But i get why Luka gets frustrated because he clearly gets hacked so much, idk if it's because he's bigger he's supposed to just take the hits, but like, cmon refs be fair! Lu Dort was literally at times going at Luka knees like a linebacker, and that wasn't brought up randomly because he literally was playing like one. There's another video where Dort is clearly kicking up his leg between Lively Knees, which imo only plausible reason as for why he did that is he tried trip Luka to screw up the possession. Regardless of who the players are, that's still a reckless play because why are you kicking your leg in between someone's knees??? That's dangerous for athletes because knee injuries can cost them their entire careers I say, you can get frustrated with Luka's complaining, but you can't get mad at it because it's justified.
3:10 When I watched video of it in slow motion, before hearing the announcers, I was thinking it was easily a foul. Shai hit his pinky on one side and pulled down his arm on the other side before Washington even released the shot. I think it was the correct call.
As a Thunder, I’m unbothered by the foul. We achieved more than most people expected us too, like yes could’ve went further but it’s alright. Next year is the beginning of this dynasty, Championship 2025
Jonny you need to make a completely separate video how OKC is manufactured team. They foul on d and get all the calls on offense. OKC tried to zaza Luka all series. Sga is the most embarrassing "star"ever. They stopped reffing like that for everyone but him and JB
Call all these big UA-camrs out because none of them ever mention how the refs always kill Dallas momentum with bs calls or letting Dort have 15 fouls a game
Why is everyone still shtting on the team that won the series?! Kyrie balances Luka, who still has some maturing to do. I'm proud of how Nico built this team
Im just glad Dallas shut up the media...everyone was talking about Kyrie not mixing well with Luka..also that his former teammates got better teams (Durant Suns and Harden Clippers)..then everyone counting them out against the super stacked Clippers and the young OKC...now they're in the West Finals😂
The following action was a two pointer for Mavs. If they have overturned the foul call, then they should call it a block which turns into a pass that leads to two points scored afterwards. I guess 🤔
As a Mavs fan I don't so much worry about the Wolves defenders. Luka doesn't struggle with lengthy guys. It's the stockier guys like Dort that can pound on him physically
I got Denver winning in a very tight game tonight. It really could go either way. I predicted the Nuggets to beat the Timberwolves and win the championship over on my youtube channel, so I hope they win, but it really doesn't matter too much to me. I think whoever wins tonight's game will win the championship, so it'll be a good one for sure.
Yeah they’re a young team and expect and hope they can make a run again. Heck make a run for the next 5-10 years but windows close unexpectedly. Contract negotiations don’t workout, injuries happen, poor roster management, whatever and you really have to seize the chance.
That was a foul. He got all ball, but he shot the ball after SGA's had left the ball& fouled him. Also, Kyrie was the closer when he played with LeBron, not LeBron. He's always the closer.
I agree with you on the complaining problem Luka has but the last two games he really dialled that back especially game 5 in OKC. Head down focused on playing. My issue is that I kinda get why he is constantly complaining. I mean Dort was all but wrestling him on almost every possession, grabbing, tripping, shoving, etc. just to then flop at EVERY opportunity he has on both defense and offense if there is minimal resistence/contact by a Mavs player. Utterly disgraceful. Glad that didn't work out for him.
As a Dallas Fan, I WAS hoping for Denver, both because they‘re far more likable, and because I fear for Luka‘s health with the tough-to-borderline dirty defense of the Wolves. Other than the Wolves being a really strong team with a lot of match-up problems, the question on my mind is IF the 50-60% of Luka Doncic we‘re seeing right now are going to be enough. If he were at 90-100%, I‘d feel very confident, but he‘s just not and is playing so hobbled and getting into his head that this may just be a little too much. That being said: Minnesota may have the best defense, but right now, Dallas is right up with them and i don‘t think they‘ve experienced anything close to that from Denver, either. We‘ll see what happens. Either way, best playoffs in many many many years.
I think Dallas has exceeded expectations but needs like one or two more pieces to be a championship team. T-Wolves just seem to be a better put-together team rn.
Why would that play(faul) at the end be series deciding? Take faul away, and you still get a basket from Kyrie with less time on the clock... The whole game was officiated so badly, mostly against Mavs... But great game averall 👌👌
bruh, that rule is for people going to the ring holding the ball with both hand, not for somebody taking a 3 and touch the ball and after touch his shooting hand, take his landing spot or even bumb into him still a foul
Okc need to address the rebounding problem, Mavs killed them with lot of offensive boards resulting in many second chance points throughout the series and especially last game. Dallas looked overall better than the Thunder but I don't see them beating either Denver or Minnesota.
Also, there's an alternate timeline where Dallas doesn't trade cason Wallace and bertans to OKC for lively and TPE. I firmly believe in that timeline OKC rolls all the way to the title. Chet 4 lively 5? Sheesh.
Who should the Mavericks be hoping for, Nuggets or Timberwolves?
To be completely honest, I don’t think it matters. I think either team beats Dallas in 5 or 6.
@dmulumba26 that's what I am thinking. I think the champion is coming out of the Denver/Minnesota series if everyone stays healthy.

That's dangerous for athletes because knee injuries can cost them their entire careers
I say, you can get frustrated with Luka's complaining, but you can't get mad at it because it's justified.
That foul didn't matter. If they don't call it, kyrie had the put back. Game over
Why is everyone still shtting on the team that won the series?!
Dort was playing football the whole series. Flopping and falling all over the place.
Definitely keep up the unscripted vids! The real you comes out!
LUKA VS ANT E😮💨 DATS WHAT I REALLY WANT 2 SEE 🤩🤩💯
I got Denver winning in a very tight game tonight. It really could go either way.
I predicted the Nuggets to beat the Timberwolves and win the championship over on my youtube channel, so I hope they win, but it really doesn't matter too much to me.
I think whoever wins tonight's game will win the championship, so it'll be a good one for sure.
"If you don't believe, you shouldn't be here."luka
Lively impressed me A LOT. I did not know he cpuld be so impactful. Holmgren paled in comparison.
This game should be studied for how much the refs tried to push for game 7 and those extra viewership stats and ticket sales.
2:38 I KNOW YOU DIDN'T JUST GIVE OKC THAT PHANTOM FOUL CALL BS LMAO. Look at all Shay ft calls and dort hacking
Yeah they’re a young team and expect and hope they can make a run again. Heck make a run for the next 5-10 years but windows close unexpectedly. Contract negotiations don’t workout, injuries happen, poor roster management, whatever and you really have to seize the chance.
lol…maybe the refs forgot they weren’t reffing the Lakers game anymore…🤣🤣🤣
That was a foul. He got all ball, but he shot the ball after SGA's had left the ball& fouled him. Also, Kyrie was the closer when he played with LeBron, not LeBron. He's always the closer.
OKC will win a bundle of championships over the next 10 years. Dallas were lucky but if there was no foul called Kyrie had it in with 2.0 left anyway.
There is nothing controversial about that call . 100% a foul
worst of all......he ABSOLUTELY fouled him in that shot tho!!!!
Shia is cool he played amazing once holgrem can start scoring more in bunchs and that’s squad develops a bit more okc is gonna be a problem
The refs did everything they could to give this series to OKC. That's how good Dallas is playing.
Luka’s shooting percentage was crazy high.
But great game averall 👌👌
they def got that last call right. i think OKC has a case if it was a clean block and follow through contact but nah
bruh, that rule is for people going to the ring holding the ball with both hand, not for somebody taking a 3 and touch the ball and after touch his shooting hand, take his landing spot or even bumb into him still a foul
Sheesh.
Rodman was that go to, make the play no matter what guy for my bulls
Buechler. Energy guy off the bench.
Refs have to let guys play. Unless they're blatant fouls or playing football out there, let them play in those moments
