Yep,the Fowey starts up on Bodmin moor.I like Lanhydrock,i go there quite regular especially the Respryn bridge walk.About time you two showed the good folk of the world the delights of Trago, all roads lead to there after all,and it's why most people come to Cornwall.Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan are always in there buying-up out of date Pot noodles, they can't get enough of them, the curry one's especially.Lovely wander as usual.
Hi Andy! LOL! OMG! I can't stop laughing!!! After all, there is a very pleasant walk through the Glynn valley, if you don't mind the traffic noise!! Trago - 'ere we come! Sarah :)
The map is rubbish! Haha! At least you found trails to walk not on the map, considering the cost. What a lovely area! Smart to get away from the visitors center. I don't think I've ever seen a pheasant in real life. Wet fish!! Haha! so many dogs! Mud! Do you take extra shoes? Happy you found your way back to your car. ;) - Annaleis
Just had to say hello to each dog - there was a puppy amongst them all that was the same breed as ours and made me feel 'broody'! We take our walking shoes in the car and change before we start walking! Saves cleaning out the car afterwards ;) Sarah :)
Beautiful intro, Sarah! Looks like the weather there is warming up! Beautiful gardens and grounds! Glad the sun came out for your walk today! Great to hear all the birds. I only run when someone is chasing me. ;-) Winging it is fun sometimes! Good logic! Yay! Glad it worked! That brook is lovely. Sorry about the map. That should be better. Happy accident! Stunning area! Neat Pheasant. Wet fish...LOL! Nice to hear the history with the bridge! Thanks for that! Even with 5/10, we would still like to visit. Thanks for taking us along!
I had to take a deep breath for the intro - people watching!! We have had a fantastic week here with plenty of sun! We have some time off next week and we are hoping to get out and about, eat some great food and relax in the sunshine! So is visiting the UK on your bucket list? Sarah :)
Hi guys! Just found your channel and loving it! What a great idea! Getting lots of inspiration for when we next head down there in our Camper!! Brilliant stuff. BIG thumbs up! Followed! :-)
Thank you for happy memories and what a lovely sunny day! So many years since we visited Lanhydrock and with no video camera in those days but we do have a few stills in an album. That looks quite a long walk and you make us want to go back but I don't think we could manage all that walk! Have a great weekend, Greetings, Julie.
The brook and river were both looking good and what with the spring sounds it was splendid as a whole. It's just that map! I love Pheasants - one of my favorite birds and they are exotic. Asian in origin! I carried one home recently in my rucksack, skinned it and boiled it later. It made a nice broth! I'm sorry if you're vegetarian - It was already dead. No doubt the owners of the estate ate plenty back in the day. Nice park and pad! Full view. All the best. Mark
My Dad likes pheasant - 'Very pleasant!' according to him, must try it one day! We have tried kangaroo and reindeer but not pheasant. I was told that they would be quite rare if not for human intervention because they lay their eggs on the ground, vulnerable to predators. They seem numerous here! Sarah :)
I thought you said very Pheasant for a moment Sarah. They are nice to eat - kangaroo and reindeer sounds interesting. You might be right as far as numbers are concerned - lots of shoots about feeding them up. Good walk!
Hi Sarah!!Maybe the publisher of the map should consider a revised edition !! But what an absolutely gorgeous day!! From what I could see ,not a strenuous walk as far as hills to climb .Lovely streams of water and so clear!! Now that pasty on the bus took the cake ,lol , funniest thing I heard or seen, great touch to the video!! Hope all is well in your part of the world, and great to see the fur boys ,sending lots of happiness and have a fantastic weekend,Lori from Ohio
Hi Lori, I've been out in the garden, tidying up, removing the weedlings that have germinated in the spring sunshine. Or course the dogs have been right by my side watching everything I have been doing!! Glad you liked the pasty in the bus!! LOL! Sarah :)
Thank you once more for a smashing, lovely and informative walk, it was enjoyable, peaceful and very pretty. Shame the National Trust made the map difficult to read, but, I agree Lanhydrock is so very pretty and you certainly did the area proud. Yes I agree...Walk 10/10 but map 5/10.
Shame about the map but at least we found our way. I think the red markers were the key bit of information that they neglected to tell us at the information centre! Sarah :)
I had never heard of Lanhyrock - it is beautiful! Love the castle 👍 Easy to see why it is popular :D Glad you finally got to see this nice yellow warm thing in the sky again LOL! Hope you got your 50 pence back from this bad map. The river had a really quick flow! The 13th century bridge is fascinating. Look like all of you enjoyed the walk. Thanks for taking us along!
Hello, In spite of lack of clarity on your printed guide, this tour is all over my courting area with Pam. Coupled with trainspotting on the Plymouth to Penzance main line, I had it made. Stood very still on Respryn bridge, we watched a kingfisher diving for minos, amusing us for more than an hour. We used to park at Bodmin Rd, station then free parking, now called Parkway. The branch line had by then closed, the preservation group hadn't got going then, but whilst visiting mum & dad one year, Pam & I went to a pre preservation film show & supper, where the nucleus group were trying to get the funds to buy the line. Happy days.
I've just viewed your anniversary stay in Port Isaac, plus a beautiful converted barn nearby. Every one of your videos is a gem of memories for me. God bless.
There's a lot to see in the house, we went there about 3 years ago. We started on a walk as well but didn't go far as it was getting close to closing time.
Yes, I agree - the house is fantastic and we are planning to return and hopefully make a film, we need to find out if we are allowed to use a camera! I hope we showed you what you missed out on!! Sarah :)
We stayed at Treffry farm which is just up the road from there but I assumed it would be closed as it was the start of November. Does any one know if you can park up there in winter and just walk the trails?
A beautiful place, Lanhydrock - I often do pretty much the same walk, but parking at Respryn and walking in the opposite direction - it's particularly beautiful when the bluebells are out (about now I guess!). Never bought that map and I guess I won't bother after watching this!
Sounds like you don't really need the map! We did Tehidy in bluebells last year and weare thinking of Lerryn for the bluebells this year. I always think bluebells and Flora Day - it's like fish and chips to me!! LOL! Sarah :)
Hi guys,l would like to say, your awesome Cornish trails videos are so informative while on your walking 🚶 adventures, The next time we visit your lovely Cornwall for a holiday,it would be intriguing to try one of your suggested trails , Can you recommend a suitable trail walk book, that is not to strenuous on our legs, around par and st Austell are,,thank you tony and joan
Sorry but we haven't come across one specific to Par and St Austell. Easy walks book includes the Luxylyan Valley but that has steeper sections. Sarah :)
Hi Sarah and Andrew Never mind Andrew chasing the pasties on the bus, John would be driving it! We really enjoyed the walk, getting "lost" for us adds to the enjoyment, but can understand why you only scored it a 5 due to the poor instructions. The map is supposed to help! Lovely scenery, especially near the river, and as usual really enjoyed the history lesson. Well done, and thank you for another great video.
Hi Diana and John, Lovely to hear from you and I hope that the spring has arrived in West Sussex and you have had a chance to get out and about! I was a bit disappointed by the map, expected more from the Trust, style over substance maybe? Everything is blooming down here and we have a treat for next week - we visited Glendurgan Gardens and it was amazing!!
We had some lovely weather a week ago but winter has returned in the past few days. It doesn't stop us getting out and about with the dogs and we have done a few longer hikes without them. Have taken a look at Glendurgan Gardens online - it looks fantastic, really looking forward to watching your video. All of your walks on the Lizard peninsula are so enjoyable. We have our usual place booked near Polperro for part B of or stay in September, but think that Part A may have to be near Helford. We are now looking for accommodation!
Oh Wow! The Helford is fantastic! On the North side there is a little pub called the Ferryboat Inn where you can catch a boat or 'ferry' to Helford. The Three Tuns in St Keverne is a little gem for food on the South side, Lizard Peninsula. I aim to go to Frenchman's Creek this year to follow up the Daphne Du Maurier link - I am just finishing the book! Sarah :)
Thank you for the information Sarah. We remember The Three Tuns from one of your walks. We now have two nights booked in Helston - yeah! It will not be long enough for all we would like to do but it is a start... During our search we found a B&B that named its rooms after Daphne Du Maurier books. It looked wonderful but sadly they did not have the right size bed for John (he's 6'5") on the right days!
Wow, rhododendrons out already in Easter, mine are still in bud and normally do not come out till mid May. 50p....50p lol, to be fair for the price, it was not too bad although lacking in detail. Still a good walk out in some lovely sunny weather. Cheers Alan
We filmed this two weeks ago and everything is coming out and looking full of life and colour - it's just great!! Winter has been too long this year :( Shorts will be out soon! Sarah :)
So ever since finding this channel (thank you Len from Retro Room) I've been obsessed with you guys and all my anglophile traits have been off the charts. But last night i found a bunch of 17th and 18th century American recipes for pasties. So my poor roommates are about to be living off transition continental beef pasties. Lol I've got 25 pounds of meat and some cooking to do. I wonder if in can ship one to your clan with out it being mush. I'd love to hear your take .
OMG! You are amazing! Just trying to imagine how you would even package a pasty without it being stopped at customs!! Sniffer dog would eat it!! LOL!! Send us a link to the recipe, I've added an email to the about page and we could give it a go ourselves and let you know how we get on!! I'm really excited - that's amazing! Sarah :D
So is it a working farm and does the family still live there? Its amazing can I rent ario for holiday there lol. Um do pasty often take the bus in Cornwall Andrew? Also is 50p like 50 cents I need a conversion chart lol. Another amazing trip and I'm still wish I was there. OMG so funny I get lost all the time so that map I'd be calling for help
The farm and estate are owned by the National Trust. Don't know if you would have something similar in US. It's basically a charity set up years ago to look after and maintain large houses where the families were no longer able to meet the running costs. They open the houses and gardens to the public and you can wonder around. They own a lot of the Cornish coast too. The farm at Lanhydrock is now used to propagate plants from the estates that are then sold in the their gift shops. As for renting, some of the estate cottages are holiday lets. And yeh, we have 100 pennies, or pence, in our pound! I don't mind paying for anything if it's good but when it's not, well, what can I say? Glad we made you laugh and look out for those wet fish ... LOL! Sarah
I have spent the morning outside in our garden, trying to combat the recent weed germination - it's like a rash of green! I didn't want to do it either but it looks so much better, I'm glad it's done. Time for a cup of coffe and sit in the sun for five minutes it think!! Sarah :)
Awesome video
Hi beautiful
Great video
Beautiful area. I enjoyed it.
It always feels like you are following a treasure map on these hikes, which makes it that much more enjoyable.
Yeah, I like that analogy - and the pub meal at the end is our treasure! LOL! Sarah :)
Lovely walk and beautiful scenery as always my friends. TFS👍
TFW!! Glad you enjoyed :) Sarah
wow lovely view..

Wow ancient trees!! Everything looks so beautiful and magical😍
The inside of the house is even more magical! We will be filming there later in the year - I bet you will enjoy that! Thanks for watching! Sarah :)
What an awesome area! Looked like a busy walk!

You're reminding me of the stills in our album with my Mum in a full length 70s skirt! I will have to go and ask her where they are!! Sarah :)

You sound like an echo of my Dad! "Very pheasant!" LOL! Sarah :)
Ha ha - They are beautiful birds! No question! Have a great week.
Hahaha, great edit at 4:08, love it :) You guys are always so much fun, thanks for another great walk!
I'm glad we made you laugh! I think I need to upgrade my editing software to give me more freedom! Sarah :)

Thanks for sharing guys, I've been so busy, I've gotten behind on my viewing time... Hope you're having a good day...
TFW - all viewing time appreciated, fitting it around creating and working is challenging! Sarah :)
So scenic

I was allowed to use a camera but no flash, apparently it has detrimental effects on things in the house.
That's ok, as long as we can use a camera. I think we will wait for the garden to be in bloom though! Sarah :)
We stayed at Treffry farm which is just up the road from there but I assumed it would be closed as it was the start of November. Does any one know if you can park up there in winter and just walk the trails?

You two are so cute! I can see how you would rate it lower because the map wasn’t clear. But as a viewer, it was magnificent.
I agree, the scenery is magnificent, the beautiful Fowey river. The area is stunningly beautiful, makes our ob easy really! Sarah :)
