How deep is deep? I fancy giving this a go from the UK but a lot of our beaches where I live are shallow sloping, no more than 10ft up to 50-60 yards out?
IOM Fishing just got to find a slower a sinking jig, one that flutters more, usually lighter so u might need to downgrade to a lighter pound line so u can maintain casting distance. Hope that helps. Some fish here in Australia like a fast winding action, and other (usually stuff that prefer the bottom) will prefer to hit lures that flutter down, hence the lift and wind action of the rod
Dave looks like he is using a short version of the Diaiwa Seajigger. The seajigger is perfect for this sort of stuff. www.tacklewarehouse.com.au/new-arrivals/daiwa-sensor-sejigger.html or www.tacklewarehouse.com.au/rods/daiwa-rods/daiwa-seajigger.html - both are bloody awesome for this sort of stuff
Yeh I have a mid weight Lateo, and its an absolutely fantastic and light as. In Heavy version the Lateo and Sea Jigger seem very similar but I hate how Daiwa have such massive oversized length from butt to reel (peeves me off no end). The Lateo is a tad shorter in the butt section than the Sea Jigger which is good, but I'm aiming at the new model sea jigger and going to cut 6 inches off the butt section and custom make it into 10 foot rod, which is what I should be really light weight and something I'm able to cast all day long as it will be better balanced for my needs as well..
Dave, can you work these in shallow waters? Not necessarily at a beach
Yes u can but the faster your jig sinks the fast u have to retrieve to avoid snag
@@djdaveaustin I’ve tried this in Victoria, and most of the time, I’m just dragging the metal on the floor, cos it’s so shallow
Then that location is probably not suitable mate
Fantastic video brother, can I use a 60grammes jig in a similar area?
The heavier it is the faster u have to retrieve otherwise it will just hit the sand when fishing on a beach
@@djdaveaustin thank you for the tip ❤️ have a nice day sir
Nice tips 👍 hi from Bali

Finally, what did you choose?
ilex Wang, I would just go with a hand line as suggested before.
Dude, there seems to be a lot of sand crabs on the beach. Good for fishing and just under your feet.
