I was never an Usman Fan, but his last two fights were VERY close. He's far from washed, and he has all the respect in the world right now.

@@Frank35986 I never liked Usman's cheating in fights and the fact he kept getting away with it, but cheating wasn't the sole reason he was winning. He was winning fights because he was better than everyone else in the division until very recently.
Having said that, there is a segment of the MMA fanbase who dislike Black African fighters (they don't have an issue with Black Americans like Jones weirdly enough) and especially Muslims. Usman is both of those things.

Despite the age and his knees done Kamaru Usman is still one of the best fighters👏

Khamzat broke his hand in the first round. Khamzat would've lost if *that* fight had been 5 rounds, but a rematch with 5 rounds and two hands? I think Usman would lose.

Dude… this is not a down fall. He’s lost twice to the current champion, and his third loss came from a future champion. I was never in the camp of Usman is better than GSP, but I don’t jump on bandwagons as quick as some.
Exactly, and that last fight was on a different weight division on 11-days notice. I don't understand why are people calling this a "downfall".

I don’t necessarily disagree, but you can certainly understand why some consider a 3 fight skid at age 36 a downfall/precipitous decline/downward trajectory.
Actually everyone in my circles still hold Usman in the highest respect.
A lot of what was said here about khamzat seeming less untouchable already happened with burns. After burns made khamzat look human the khamzat stans still thought he would dominate Usman easily, now it should be obvious that a slightly younger version of Usman, at ww, with a full camp and most importantly for 5 rounds would likely beat khamzat by decision
By decision? Marty would be piecing up khamzat by the 3rd round especially with the confidence and trust in his striking he used to have. I honestly think usman could have won the fight but that headkick he got from Leon really ruined his confidence and he’s hesitant in throwing his famous and non stop bombs
At the end of the day you’re all just speculating.
The only fact that stands, is that Khamzat beat Usman.

I couldn't even call this a downfall from him, mor le of a few road blocks. Most importantly he seems to be able to handle it emotionally and mentally well enough so that's what matters
With a full camp he definitely could have won that fight

I respect Usman. He tmoved up a weight class , took a fight against a beast all on10 days notice. There's not many fighters stepping up to get in the octagon with Khamzat Chimaev Chimaev and that's just the truth. So, for Usman to take that fight under those circumstances, hats off. Kamaru Usman is cut from the same cloth as GSP. And like GSP who came back from a couple of losses. Usman will do the same. The man is a gifted fighter. Period.

The thing is it’s more of the fanbase that makes someone’s downfall bad. Kamaru Usman is still a great fighter. Still two majority decision losses but he can compete no mistake. Compare his loss with Volks who lost worst but his stock goes up. Usmans goes down because they expect a lot from him. Usman is still a top contender

His last fight between khamzat I really wish the fight was 5 rounds cuz I feel like he wouldn't won.
Being Ko'd after 35ish years old doesn't seem to bode well, especially outside of the HW division. Hopefully it doesn't hurt Volk's confidence, which translates into ability to implement a gameplan without hesitation, in the way it did Usman in the 2nd Leon fight.
I dont think usmans “washed” like people claim, he was dominating leon until the headkick, his second loss to leon could have been a draw, and his short notice loss to Khamzat definitely should have been a draw.
