The Grove Street Families set was disbanded, because in GTA V Lamar states that the leaders of this set (Sweet & CJ) moved on with their lives and gave up the gang lifestyle it is also suggested that many members of this set became wealthy CEOS. GTA V is set 21 years after GTA SA so it explains why Grove street is now Balla territory.
Then the next generation of Grove Street youngins either became Ballas or they probably moved out of GS & joined other distinct sets of the Families like :
Chamberlain Hills Gangster Families (CGF)
Forum Drive Families (FDF)
Carson Avenue Families (CAF)
Davis Neighborhood Families (DNF)

Except San Andreas and GTA5 take place in different universes. They aren't connected at all besides having the same locations or easter eggs.
@@visassess8607 This in my opinion is what lead to the downfall of GTAs storyline today. Cutting off a universe that has an entire lore built around it with so many details that are still being found and loved to this day, example being GTA 4. But it also doesn’t make sense to reuse two of the cities that are apart of the previous universe because you’re basically erasing all the lore you had established before. If it was done the correct way like GTA 4 then I wouldn’t mind, as many of the gangs in GTA 3 weren’t in GTA 4 or the gangs they did have were changed so drastically and detailed so much more you couldn’t tell the difference or even mind it like Triads or the Jamaican gang. They also weren’t a huge part of the story like they were in GTA SA. Returning to Los Santos in GTA V should have included a new story but tied up a few loose ends from GTA SA such as:
Where is CJ, Sweet, Kendl, Cesar and the rest of the gang?
How did the gangs move neighborhoods over time?
What happened to Brian Johnson?
Who really pulled the trigger on CJs Mom?
And what happened to the old sets from Los Santos 1992? Rolling Heights, Kilo Tray, Temple Drive, Seville etc.
When you say many members became CEO's your talking about CJ, Sweet, and maybe those 2 other OGs that appear in a cutscene on Grove Street. That whole shit about all the GSF members abandoning the hood don't make sense. Most likely the OGs left the hood, and the rest of the soldiers suffer the fate. Ballas are the younger gang so they used a strategic move to have dealers slang in the GSF hood. Majority of GSF members became addicts and the Grove lost.

Mr. Deryon, CJ's not dead in GTA V. He's still young and starting his very first mission on the "Safari hood" mission. It's someones theory. I've watched and played the mission too. But the thing is he was wearing a white tank top shirt with a green reverse hat and riding a bike. He's with Raider and Sweet You could see them near the gas station in grove street. Whenever playing the "Safari hood" mission.

And Grove Street families
If you paid attention to the lore, you would know that

Bro what you mean the Ballas aren't huge, in the start of 1992 they are the largest gang in Los Santos. Grove Street Families had control of Idlewood and Willowfield as well in the 70s. During the 80s the crack era change that and Ballas got more money and better weapons. Back then GSF was connected from Ganton, Idlewood, Willowfield, and Playa de Seville. Ballas took over 2 major housing projects, Crystal Gardens in Idlewood and Willow Homes in Willowfield. Rollin Heights Ballas are from Jefferson not East LS. East LS belong to the Vagos but they lost that turf to the Ballas. There was never no Ballas in Temple always Families. Temple Drive Families switched to Temple Drive Ballas because they were in bad terms with GSF and SBF.

Gta 5 and 4 are from the HD universe while 3 and SA are from the 3D one, so it's two diverent stories and universes

Ballas revenged Big Smoke killing CJ

Well rockstar said that the ps2 games are a different universe from the HD games (IV and V) so my theory is that San Andreas (PS2) could easily be a classic hood movie in that universe based on the real life story of the Ballas vs Grove Street battle that take place in the even bigger version of Los Santos in GTA V.
Just the thought that the city is smaller makes it come off like its a budgeted movie version of the city. Another is that Lazlow comes off much more normal/cool in the ps2 games. I wouldn't put it pass him to want his image to seem better than it really is in a movie so maybe he pulled some strings. Like getting somebody who was behind those movies female family member or girlfriend/wife onto Fame or Shame to make that happen.
but anyway yeah. In V Franklin and Lamar mention that the specific area used to be family turf before it was taking over so my guess is that in the movie (ps2 game) they wrote it that the hood was eventually taking over after those events finished up with CJ and his family finally moving out of there and moving on with their lives. Whatever happened with the remaining members who lived in that area might have led to the Ballas taking over but idk. CJ and them took out quite a bit of the Ballas during that storyline so its no telling who would have been left to take over regardless of if the two stories were in the same universe or not. Rockstar could have did more with that but they probably didn't give two shits and just wanted to do a separate game. Letting us fans come up with whatever thoughts we want on it.
Yeah, different universe in terms of 2D evolving to 3D and 3D evolving to HD all of the games are connected to each other and are canon to the gta universe. I don't think that's what rockstar meant when they said that 💀

Couldve made the balla more distinguishable with a custom outfit to set him apart from the rest of the ballas as a lieutenant or something.
