    Another great video Chris. 👍I use a double carport for my firewood and log splitter storage. It's steel and I bought it second hand for $500. Size is 18'x21'. If you go this route please note: that the metal roof holds and echoes the noise from equipment being used on those rainy🌦️ days can be deafening. 👂👤👂

    On those Big Rounds a Log Lift would come in handy Chris. It would be nice to have a cement pad to keep the tractor on and covered by a Steel carport. You could even keep the splitter in there Chris. Please keep your Rain, lately when you get rain we get it. 😪 Chris, the muffler is still Hot, don't catch your splitter on fire 🔥 when you cover it up with the tarp. 🔥 the the Fire Dept. 🪓🚒 🚑 will show up. 😮 Have a Great Labor Day Chris ! 🤣

    Chris, I have a idea that would should help you. Find a old factory that handle a lot of boxes and see if you can get a section of the old roller conveyor that has metal wheels on it. Jack 1 end up a little and the weight of the wood will keep you supplied with rounds until you need to put more on conveyor. I build 1 from a conveyor and it helped even more when you have a helper who can load it up while you split. Have a great day be safe.

    Yep, those Stihl cuts will hang you up at the splitter every time. Only thing worse is splitting those stringy crotches.

    When I load the truck I try to throw the driest wood into the front of truck and the wet wood by the tailgate, so when I get to the customer’s the wet wood is unloaded first and stacked on the bottom. By the time the customer burns all the dry wood the wet wood should have plenty of time to dry.

    WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WASTE TIME SPLITTING SMALL LIMB WOOD CHRIS ?????

      To ensure it dries and is ready to burn at the same time as the other split wood. That and size of the pieces.

      @@thefirewooddoctor I can tell you haven't cut much wood, limb wood has a very thin bark and dries very quickly, most of all three and four inch pieces.don't need to be split

      @thefirewooddoctor 3 роки тому +1

      @@barrythompson4605, was guessing at Chris's logic. The wood may have been very wet from being close to the ground. I've been to his woodyard, and part of it gets very wet/muddy when it rains a lot.

      @thefirewooddoctor 3 роки тому +1

      @@barrythompson4605, by the way, I've bucked 18 cords of wood this year alone. If the wood feels dry by the weight, I don't split the tiny 4in logs that come in on the truck. If is oak, I'll split a 4in log so it lights easier.
