As someone who has been around horses all their life, the horse can see out of the blinkers. In the UK (not sure about Italy), when driving a horse on the road, it is law that the horse wears blinkers. This is because it keeps the horse focused on what is directly in front of them rather than being distracted/scared of things to the side of their vision - their vision is 180degrees. Obviously this isn't a totally fail safe method, it significantly reduces the risk of an accident. Accidents while driving horses tend to be significantly more serious than accidents while riding horses so any method to lower the risk of an accident is encouraged :)
Having been to Rome 5 times now, I love seeing you walk down streets and I recognize them instantly. I may have sucked in school, but my memory of how to get around Rome is perfect. Last two times I went only time I used a map was to get somewhere I hadn't been before. Also, even though ice-cream is the English translation of Gelato, Gelato is actually made differently. Tastes much better. Last thing. Don't feel to bad about getting McDonalds. At least compared to here in America, McDonalds there is WAY better. I won't even eat McDonalds here for that reason, only in Italy. It's actually something I look forward to.

When I go abroad I try to try mcdonalds in the country to ompare it to ours in the uk, denmark, france, netherlands and switzerland have been the only ones I have been able to have so far as 2 countries didn't have mcdonalds and the other few I have been to were through a cruise ship
