2012-2015 Honda Civic - Blower/fan motor replacement

  • In this video, I walk through the steps to replace the blower motor in a 2014 Honda Civic.
    The bearings can get worn and cause a squeaking noise when the climate control fan is running.
    This is applicable for the 9th generation Honda Civics from 2012-2015.
    I would recommend and OEM - original part replacement on this as the bearings tend to be better quality and should last longer.
    This is an easy replacement and requires:
    Phillips screwdriver
    Torx 20 bit driver
    Blower motor - Honda OEM
    The Honda part is : Honda 79311-TR6-A71
    www.hondaparts...
    This process should work on model years: 2012 2013 2014 2015

    Just wanted to thank you for a clear helpful video. My dad passed away last year and he usually did these type of easy repairs for me but your video actually gave me confidence that I could do it myself and I DID!! :-)

    Great to the point video. I ordered mine on EBAY $45
    It arrived today 2/12/22 and installed it in 15min. I disconnected the wire first before the screws.
    Thank you so much ✊🏼💪🏼🙏🏼✌🏼😁

    I might need to replace blower motor soon because it is making louder noise as I increase the fan speed, like a Cessna propeller 🙂 It could be some leaves stuck in there, I need to take it out and see.

      Yes, it sounds like something in the fan, but you can remove it and easily check

      @@eeeek5238 If the air is blowing but not cold then you most likely have a leak. It should be 45 degrees or colder when coming out of the vents. If the force/speed of the air coming out is low, then I’m not quite sure what would cause that.

    Do you have a video of the sound it was making before you replaced it? I think this is my current issue but it’s not so much a squeak as a wurring noise that has turned into it barely blowing now.

    • @DIYGuyUSA
      @DIYGuyUSA  Рік тому

      Unfortunately, I don’t have a video that has the sound, but I believe it is more of a squeak because the bearings are worn out. Yours could be a different issue such as a bad blower motor resistor.

  • @Bellesquirtsprite
    @Bellesquirtsprite 2 роки тому +2

    Any idea for 14 civic , the motor makes clicking noises and then sometimes air will completely stop coming out of vents no air flow at all, other times even on the fastest setting the air flow is super weak.. is this a bad motor plus the resistor ?

    • @DIYGuyUSA
      @DIYGuyUSA  2 роки тому

      That does sound like a possible problem with the blower motor resistor. You would have to diagnose with a multimeter or try replacing it.

  • @ToddWhirley

    Our 2014 Civic LX blower motor works intermittently. Sometimes runs on high just fine. Sometimes not at all. Sometimes barely blows on any setting. I thought maybe it was the resistor but it wasn't. Blower never sounds weird. Always sounds like it did when car was brand new. What should I look for next? Cools just fine. Thanks for the video

    • @DIYGuyUSA

      I have not had that problem with this car but another car had similar issues. Sounds like the blower motor resistor or possibly a relay.

    • @DIYGuyUSA
      @DIYGuyUSA  Рік тому

      It is possible it could be the blower motor. Does it change to different speeds properly? If not, it could be the blower motor resistor. It probably would require a little more research.

    My 2013 Civic motor has been making somewhat quiet high pitch sound, from day one. Honda told me I'm hearing things and refused to replace it. My wife isn't bothered by it, I'm going bonkers every time I drive the car.
    My question, would it be just the fan that would make this sound or the motor itself?

    • @DIYGuyUSA
      @DIYGuyUSA  3 роки тому

      Does the sound go away when you turn off the fan? If so, then it is probably caused by this. Fan and motor are one unit

    I have a rhythmic chirping sound that seems to come from my passenger side AC fans. The sound stops as soon as I turn the fan to off, and starts with the fan on even if the AC is off. Do you think replacing this part would fix that?

    • @DIYGuyUSA
      @DIYGuyUSA  3 роки тому +1

      If the chirping sound is related to the speed of the fan, then I would say it is probably worth replacing.

    • @DIYGuyUSA
      @DIYGuyUSA  Рік тому

      If it is this fan, you would be able to hear it without the the engine running. Just have the a/c going. It should be just a squeaky bearing. Otherwise, it could be something else depending on the sound.

    • @DIYGuyUSA
