I'm an Israeli. Today is our independence day and I was in a state of desperation and hopelessness about everything going on. I stumbled across this video and watching you both talk about how you experienced Israel and Isreali people was heartwarming and made me more optimistic and hopefull. Thank you so much ❤️
I can understand how deeply being on guard against assault & attack from those around you must have affected you, but please don't lose faith. You have to believe that you are loved & respected by many good people in this world and that we do care. I believe that eventually Israel will set the example for all of the middle east & the world on what it means to live in truth, kindness, honesty & humility and that these values don't make you less than the aggressor or ignorant, but indeed makes you greater!!!!💙🩵🇮🇱🕊🤍🙏
Turkish Israeli here🙋🏻♀️ The health industry in israel has overwhelmingly high population of Arabs, especially pharmacists and doctors. All you need to do is go visit a clinic or a pharmacy on Shabbat.
Many Israeli Arabs work in the healthcare sector as doctors/nurses etc. I work in tech and in the last 10 years numbers here have also gone up (historically these were low and educated Arabs used to only go into medicine/law etc). One thing is that these young Arab kids who work in the service industry, used to previously work for lower wages in their own communities so I actually see it as a positive thing, especially for young women, even if these are low skilled jobs. That way they get to interact with Jews, and the young women also get financial independence which women used to not have in previous generations.
Hello Yasmine, Israeli Arab here. multiple points that I want to mention. 1) A lot of Arabs in the service industry: yes, but at the same time they are somehow over represented as doctors pharmacists etc. in Israel 2) the Christian Arabs are actually the most educated population in Israel. but they are a tiny minority. 3) there are plenty of none kosher restaurants in jerusalem. whoever told you taht is ignorant. If you visit Israel again you can go to ein karem for example where a bunch of restaurants are open on shabbat and are not kosher. 4) "You can't have gay marriage" is not quite the rule. the issue is that there is an orthodox lobby group that keeps preventing civil marriage from being a thing. so you have to go to a religious form of marriage, either Jewish Christian or Muslim and it will be accepted. so many Israeli even straight couples go to get married in cyprus because they don't want to deal with any religious institution. The courts have streamlined getting your marriage certificate well enough that the pushback against that lobby group isn't as strong anymore heh.
Basically all the restaurants in the Arab areas of East Jerusalem are non-kosher such as in the Christian, Muslim and Armenian quarters in the Old City, Suleiman Street, Silwan, Beit Hanina, Shuafat, Abu Tor, Sur Baher, Jabel Mukaber, Abu Dis, Beit Safafa, Sheikh Jarrah.
as u know, no one is stopping u from being educated. in israel, u r free to do what ever u think is right for u. not all the jewish people r educated as well. bcoz of money, bcoz of mentality ncoz of many reasons.
I don't normally comment before I even watch a video, but Yasmine is a personal hero of mine for so many reasons. I'm a 45 year old American Jew of Egyptian heritage, and in this world of twisted narratives, Yasmine truly is a shining beacon for those like me who seek truth and love beyond all else. Thank you so much for all you have done to help so many people and spread so much truth, at the expense of your own life. I for one am forever your brother.🙏🏼💙🙌🏼
I'm not an Israeli or even a Jew and it brings tears to my eyes. Listening to Yasmine's words of hope and feeling October 7 was not in vain, those people who died may be the salvation of the world. We ARE waking up, here in the West!
My two grandmothers and two grandfathers are holocost survivers. Whenever I asked them to tell me what they went through they said "the past is over. Now we must look only to the future". They built their families again, had childrens and grsndchildrens, worked, lughed and belived in God and in the good of humankind.
As an Israeli from Haifa, I disagree about you saying Arab Israelies don't push their kids to be educated, it's not all Arab Israelies (Haifa Arab community is highly educated with many doctors, lawyers, engineers and more). It depends on the community. But I agree that Israeli Arabs in some areas get less educated than in other areas.
Yasmin, i want to tell you that with everyone Israeli lost, people start up charities, organizations, outreach programs to help, bring communities together and spread goodness. So hamas are failing at trying to dim our light, it actually shines brighter with every hit.
At 29:00 mark - Yasmine talks about many Arab Israelis being in the service industry. What you may have not been able to see in this visit is that a huge percentage of our healthcare professionals- both doctors, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists etc. - are Arabic. They are about third of this sector which is a very high ratio compared to them being only 20% of the population. So I don't think that they don't value education - quite the opposite .
It totally depends on locality. Some towns you might see a lot of engineers, law, and doctors, where as other places, maybe mechanics, service, etc. Not that one is better than the other, but the "status" is different. The same goes for Jewish Israeli towns too though, or certain neighborhoods, it really depends on what the environment is pushing. It is true about healthcare professionals though... Pharmacists, nurses, doctors, all of mine are Arab, not my dental hygenist ;D
@@zjzr08 no, it's both Christians, Muslims and Druze. I live in the north of Israel which is very diverse, so I know this well. Many professionals with high education, also engineers and lawyers as mentioned before; and in the other end there are also many blue collar workers especially in construction trade.
Israel is a country for the jews and the muslims within it. The claims about apartheid are ridiculous. There is unfortunatly racism like in other countries. The Israeli arabs are educated especially in the medical proffession
@@LahmarNabil The scriptures of Jews predate Christianity and Islam by many hundreds of years they say nothing about Muslims or Christians, (bad or good).
they have no other choice to rebuild. one of the women literally said to her baby during the massacre "we do not have time to cry now. we must survive. we will cry later." i have heard other israeli influencers say almost the exact same thing. like, we are grieving, we are so devastated, but the time to cry is not now. now we must fight to survive. we will mourn and cry later. 😞
The question is whether Israelis really want to survive. Because as I see it, in order to survive they have to give up two things. One is excessive morality. The other is any sort of dependence on the rest of the world, and particularly on its opinion. Giving up these has to permeate the entire country, including the government, all the major parties, the courts, all echelons of the army, the media, etc. It should be "survival by any means necessary." I just don't see that.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! ❤I visited Israel back in 2004. It was a life changing trip. I want to go again. There was a clear contrast between the religious atmosphere. I was shocked at how Islamic some places were As an Ex Muslim I was actually disgusted with the sounds of that ugly Azaan blaring from the speakers. I didn’t want to see or hear Islamic prayers in the precious Holy Land. But then I realised THIS is what a free society looks like. Israel is really the only Democratic country in the entire ME. No apartheid here.
@@GerardVaughan-qe7mlbecause technically, he is still in power until 2026 which is election year, so until then it is really up to public pressure and politics
@@timothykeith1367oh please don’t make this a thing now as well, everyone’s eating everybody’s food ALL the time. Jews were making wine and honey in Israel thousand years ago, is it an “Israeli thing”? People say the food is so good even Italian food is better here that is the Israeli thing. Our food clean fresh and good that’s it
@@timothykeith1367 60% of the Jews in Israel come from the Middle East and North Africa and had lived there for 2,000 years. It's just as much THEIR food as it is "Arab" food. (Arabs are indigenous to Arabia... You're erasing lots of indigenous MENA people by calling them all Arabs. Not even native Levantines are traditionally Arab!)
“A whole community hugging each other” really sums up the feel in Israel. Wow. And I have to say that I have some very close friends living the chareidi orthodox life in Jerusalem. Those women are by no means oppressed. Often they’re more educated than their husbands. They get together and hold women’s only plays, dance shows, acrobatics, they hold advanced degrees. Definitely a different system and life style than we’re used to and not one id personally choose but those women are strong and smart. And often the husbands are super active with their children- especially when the husbands are learning torah and teaching and yeshiva and the wives are the main breadwinners- then the husbands are the ones making dinner and cleaning the house often
The way you speak about Israel makes me want to return living there 😁. Thank you for this conversation. It's interesting to listen and get the picture from outer positive people.
As an American Jew, I can talk about how Israel is not apartheid until I’m blue in the face, but most of the time, it’s not worth it based on the response. Thank you for the ally ship! I’m not saying that the government is perfect (I want Netanyahu out), and I certainly don’t think this entire campaign in Gaza has been implemented completely above board, but it’s hard to convince people to live in the grey and push for a two-state solution.
there was a 2 states solution, when Jordan was created on 3/4 of the land assigned for the Jewish state. to chop off 1/2 of the remaining 1/4, leaving Israel with indefensible borders in this neighbourhood, just waiting for the chance to devour it completely, is reckless at best and actually just vile.
@@unisophia besides all those useful facts, every time a partition plan and peace was on the table, the response of (some or most) Arabs of Palestine was Revolt, uprising, violence, mayhem, killing.
No offence, but a mere monkey can speak about Israel not being an apartheid, its self evident. Only those who hate Israel would even suggest otherwise.
@@unisophiaThat part of history should be more emphasized. .i.e Egyptian/Jordanian occupation of Palestinian desiginated lands and what both Nations got fed up chaos of the Palestinian Regime and threw them out.
Hamas takes the money and brainwash the children. Palestinians need to separate religion and state. All religions should be separate, private, and individualized as relationships between the individual and God as most Christians do.
What a heartwarming conversation. You went with an open mind and open heart to learn and discover. If more people were willing to listen without prejudice and pre-conceptions… ❤️ demystifying a country and a population. From darkness to light
Many of us in the north live with Arabs in our daily life and with great joy. And it depends on which area. And precisely the right-wingers will surprise you with their deep thinking and their acceptance of the Arab side. As for Netanyahu, we are a democratic country, although Netanyahu is not so popular now, but even if it were to be understood, the choice of him is since the second intifada and the fear of terror. We tried so hard to lend a hand to peace and we got terror in return.. It's hard for us to trust the Palestinian side, it will probably take years now after October 7th.
Japan/Germany where pacified and now look at the Productivity and how influential these Nations now. Demilitarised the Nation and reeducate. Those who don't like it expel to Qatar. The Jihadists will hate it as its never their intention for a two state solution, living peacefully.
Regarding education, my wife is a college lecturer in English and she happens to work at a college that has both a regular college that does not discriminate and what they call the "Arab Institute" that caters specifically to Arab students who would not otherwise go to college. Their education is heavily subsidized and geared specifically to raise the level of education of the Israeli Arab community and to produce more Arab professionals. It is reverse discrimination, but it is an important measure to improve the conditions for the Israeli Arab society. Of course nearly all of the staff is Arab but once my wife began working there Arab students began to request to be in her classes because, unlike most of the Arab teachers together with the administration, she pushes them to excel rather than tolerating the mediocrity that is common there. So while it is true that culturally many Israeli Arabs lack motivation to excel academically, there are also very many motivated Israeli Arabs, and the trend is increasing. On the other hand, some jobs that don't require a college education can pay as much or more as professionals earn in Israel. Maybe not working in a restaurant, but being a mechanic or a tradesman in the construction field can easily attract people who aren't enamored with academic studies.
@@Thenoobestgirl I don't think everywhere people have safty rooms in the houses against rockets. In the south close to Gaza there is a shelter next to every bus station because one person died because she had no where to hide from the rockets so they built one next to every bus station. The safe room is obligation in every house in Israel since the golf war in the early 90's when Iraq sent us missiles... The people of the south lived 17 years under constant rocket attacks and have less than 15 seconds to go to a sheltter but the media don't talk about it...
Yasmine, I'm a Jewish woman. I can't tell you how much appreciate your voice of reason in everything you're saying. I'd love to see you hit the lecture circuit of college campuses and talk about your views. Sadly, you'd probably be met with the same hatred right leaning speakers meet with when speaking at colleges. You might even end up in danger as an Arab woman, who experienced what you did in your life, speaking out in favor of Israel and Jews. Still, I appreciate your willingness to speak up. Thank you.
Israeli Arab here: Israel isn't perfect, far from it, it's also nowhere near as bad as people try to make it out to be. Is there racism? Sure, but if I'm honest, I'd say I've experienced less racism in Israel than I did in the US. Not sure where Samah is from, but in the bigger cities, education is extremely valued in the community, less so in some of the villages. If you talk to most Israeli Arabs, they'll flat out tell you that they love Israel. In fact, while we aren't obligated to serve in the IDF, some do, especially the younger generation. It is, after all, home. I'm definitely privilaged to have been born here. Shelters are indeed common, here. It's worth noting, by the way, that while our army has very impressive offensive capabilities, it is primary focused on defending the country.
1:09:45 - Just to clarify, all non-Arab Israelis are obligated to participate in the IDF one way or another. The IDF is not ideologically aligned one way or the other. In fact, ultra-religious Jews, one of the more right-wing groups that you were rightly criticizing, is also exempt from participating in the IDF. Being a member of the IDF is not like being in the U.S. Army where you're voluntarily signing up to defend your country knowing that there is only a very minimal chance that you will ever have to engage in combat domestically. The same peace-loving music festival attenders participate in the IDF because they know that without an IDF there can't be a music festival. Every Sabbath, Jews sing a song called Oseh Shalom, whose lyrics translate to: May the one who creates peace on high bring peace to us and to all the world. And we say: Amen. Contrary to what I'm seeing constantly online, the majority of Israelis are not belligerently antagonizing Arabs out of spite. All these military actions are purely a matter of self-preservation. The irony is also that many Jews view Arabs as estranged family. If only there were more open-minded, curious Arabs like yourselves, the entire region would have been peaceful and prosperous years ago.
Ladies, I'm 70 and have lived in Israel for 40 years. I have been working with young people, among them young Muslim Arab women and men. They love studying. They get the best grades and scholarships. They get along so well with their Jewish and Christian peers. They are delightful. They do get married. They do start families, but not before they finish their studies and work a few years in their professions.
It's so beautiful listening to you both -- and I can't help but think how much I would love to visit Iran... the day Iran rejoins the modern world will instantly transform the entire planet into a far better place. I feel love for you both.
Wow, at 10:30 she nails the answer... Israelis are aways criticized just like she says. We have our own cookbooks, and in fact, Israeli cuisine in an amazing demonstration of global cuisine learned via the diaspora, but unfortunately most non-Israelis or non-Jews see it a different way. 🙏🏼💙🇮🇱🙌🏼💙
You are an amazing woman Yasmine. I am 100% on board with you, Sam Harris, Douglas Murray and peace. Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood must be stopped. In Canada, and especially my home of BC, we have far left, 'leftcoast', and I hate it all. It's not a rational lifestyle. Keep up the great work! 🇨🇦
@user-jt8vj1vm6y It's Irrelevant. Ask Hamas about it. But I believe, you are not interested in what you are asking about, you are just questioning without expecting the answer in order to distract any meaningful conversation. Of course we all think about civil casualties, but not about Hamas militants. But in fact, it is Hamas to blame for it. Get real.
French/Israeli Orthodox Jew here, I just want to mention that dating is arranged but not marriage, there is no limit to the number of time the young people can meet or the number of people they can date before making a decision, also because the goal is marriage they use this dating time to figure out if they match according to the important aspect of life (where to live, work vs Torah study for the man, values ext…) so it is very different from arranged marriages where people never met and have no say in the matter.
As an Israeli Jew, I want to thank you for your perspective and open minded views. I don't know why so many people around the world vilify and hate us so much. It feels hopeless to make them see who and how we really are, so we must keep going and focus on our path to better our lives and society.
Thank you very much Yasmin for standing up to defend Jewish people and Israelis, even at risking your own life ! We are so grateful for you ! May you be blessed !
note. The percentage of applicants for higher education in Arab society (in Israel) has increased, especially among women. Fewer men, maybe because there is pressure on them to earn money? It should also be noted that those who apply for studies choose respectable and profitable professions. And in higher studies it can be more difficult for Arabic speakers if it is not possible to study/examine in their language.
There may be more kosher restaurants in Jerusalem but it is a market driven issue. Restaurants are kosher because not being kosher limits the number of potential customers. It's a business decision, not something imposed.
Interestng fact re: Arab Israelis and educational achievements. Christian Arabs are actually the most highly educated segment of Israeli society (even compared to Jewish Israelis). It's specifically the Muslim Arab segment of society that doesn't value education.

Regarding the holocaust survivor, you need to remember she was a child who lost her siblings and parents. Their ability to restart and rebuild with resilience was not necessarily matched by the adult survivors who lost children and spouses. They are all gone now, but many of them (like my grandfather who lost his wife and 2 young daughters) suffered terribly from guilt and bitterness, for the rest of their lives. And I should point out - the Irgun included many young adult holocaust survivors, and the rage and anger they had was unfortunately evident in some of the things they did during the war of independence.
Thank you Yasmine, I've been watching your videos for a while now, and you and your guests were able to say what I liveded my whole life thinking, but couldn't say, My family have a complete trust to some religious leaders, who believe in ending me just for existing, especially my mom. And they support what islamists and terrorists are doing to the Jewish and non-muslims all around the world, It burns me that I born to them, and that I have no ability against all of them, but it give me a lot of comfort that at least You, and people like you, are speaking on behalf of us, and I really hope that our current government are taking the right steps to be more open to others, and it is not just a phase. Thank you for decreasing my fears and depression just by speaking up.
Sabikh is a uniquely Israeli food too and it's fantastic! It was invented by an Iraqi-Jewish Israeli whose nickname was "Sabikh." Israeli couscous (ptitim) is uniquely Israeli too. It was invented in the 1950s at the urging of then PM David Ben-Gurion to help solve food shortages. It's a type of pasta, not a grain.
Hi Jasmine, As an Israeli person, I will take liberty to correct you about the food in Jerusalem. 1. There is no way a restaurant can serve both kosher and not kosher food. The kosher paper a restaurant has means the entire kitchen and a long set of rules are kosher. So if they serve non kosher food or even open on shabbat, they will lose the kosher regulatory approval. 2.there are some places in Jerusalem that are open on shabbat and serve non kosher food. The kosher thing is not compulsory, but because most of the Jewish parts of Jerusalem have orthodox religious Jews, which eat only on stricted and supervised kosher places, the owners chose not to lose this crowd. If you wish to open non kosher restaurant you can freely do so. Some extremists may protest and try to make you relocate but its non by the establishment. If you want to open a place that will remain open for business on shabbat in Jerusalem, you can do it I restricted areas that not clash with the orthodox holiness of the shabbat.
1:14:00 the way i and alot of jews see that story is - when god told abraham to sacrifice his son he tested him, when he stopped him he was basically saying "even if god himself tells you to do such a thing you do not do it!"
About 30 minutes in, I have to say it does get tough listening to people trying to dissect Jewish religious psychology, when they are so completely off the mark, and also sadly still lean toward the negative view, but despite all that, I'm still very happy to have people like this for us instead of against us. But i would definitely recommend to anyone reading this to learn much more about the topics they bring up and what the actual Jewish point of view is on those practices, because what they present here is (very understandably) not accurate. ✌🏽
You could’ve used this space to step up and explain the specific thing that was said that is misunderstood (few were mentioned so enough to chose from). If you’re secular or atheist jew knows Judaism you have the power to appear time to time in secular environments like these and quickly correct if something mentioned is incorrect. Bc you know a rabbi or an ulra orthodox won’t waste time doing this.. so if you don’t step up and do your part, how are people even w good intentions are supposed to know.
@mashkanyc Wow. If I choose to respond to this, I hope u notice, and much more importantly, other people seeing this notice all the presuppositions buried in your comment. I might respond to you later, but your comment is worth much more to those paying attention.
Well, do follow up bc I don’t know what you’re talking about or implying. Would be even better if in a separate comment you’d point out a misunderstanding of Judaism or its culture and explain concisely how it really is the way others are doing in the thread. At least it would add to the discussion and help communication for people seeking understanding of one another.
@mashkanyc Honestly, I respect your response and I'd be happy to go into more detail, but our space is limited. But one example, as you requested, is at about 32:30 when the idea of women's rights and pregnancy comes up. The perspective given here is so distorted and completely as if the Muslim male perspective was superimposed onto the Jewish religious world. Look, yes, obviously there are MASSIVE overlaps between Jewish and Muslim misogyny. I will admit to that. And that would be a valid conversation. However, the Muslim version of that, particularly in its modern application, is as brutal and ignorant as any enemy the modern free world faces today. Well, now that that's been said, cue the Muslim talking points and head chopping fans 🙌🏼
You are so right we are all IDF in Israel. that’s the beauty the IDF is the people’s army it’s built from the people of the country all political sides
I love your description of the Israeli people. I've never been to Israel, but their cheerfulness shines out even from the UA-cam videos I've watched. Their indomitable spirit and their love of life are admirable. These things come from God, totally the opposite of the hatred and anger which comes out of Islamists. I know some Muslims who live here and lead normal emancipated lives. They are happy and friendly. I think it's suppression and domination which causes the anger.
The English is new. The Arabic its not only for the Arab Israelis. Its also for the Jews who ran from ethnic cleansing in Muslim countries. The Jews kept their original language, Arabic and sometimes their own language. Jews have a special from everything from any country they came.
But the narrative is apartheid. Imagine a White Boer Civilian pre Apartheid having a black lawyer. Nevertheless, it's not Israeli Arabs/Christians they are talking about. It's the Palestinians Arabs and.ofc we know why there are restrictions, more can't work in Israeli because of October 7th and many where alleged to have carried out recconisence and involved.
39:07 yes. There are partnerships. You can go to the interior ministry and say that you live with this person together and it equates to the married couples in everything. (It doesn’t matter what are your genders). On a general note, Israel is not an atheist country. Even the secular people (me, for instance) here do practice some traditions. In fact, atheists here are almost non existent (maybe some 3% of the population). The religion is embedded in this country and we are used to live with it. Although there are always tensions.. Regarding the kosher - according to the religious law, places cannot serve non kosher foods, if they want to serve kosher. So it is kosher all the way. However, you can have kosher and non kosher branches of the same restaurant.
If I am correct your uncle was General Naguib of Egypt. In 1952 immediately after the Revolution he went to the main Cairo Synagogue to reassure the Egyptian Jews not to worry. My father had great respect for him; so did the Egyptian people. Nasser used him as a Front and then later put him under house arrest. Because of Nasser the Egyptian Jews were forced to leave.
Huge thank you from Israel ❤❤❤❤❤ your kind words warm our hearts amidst all the senseless hate and lies. You two are bright flames in world drenched in darkness.
This was great! Incredible guest. Loved hearing about your visits. I wish you both had more time to speak, because it sounded like there were some really interesting topics that you were unable to cover.
Hello Jasmine. Have you heard of Dor Shachar? He grew up in Gaza and escaped to Israel where he was accepted after quite a difficult time. He eventually converted to Judaism and has become a advocate and speaker. Another person I admire is "The Green Prince" who was also from Gaza and now lives in the US and a speaker.
Wonderful episode. Thank you Jasmine for important work you do and for bringing interesting people and having honest and deep conversations. To find these courageous and intelligent people (you including) and to hear strong voices opposing global madness is one positive thing in our sad and uncertain times. People like you should be part of our politics and education, it would really make a difference.
In terms of the Orthodox women and head coverings, some of them cover with wigs that look so close to hair attached to someone’s head that you have to be knowledgeable to tell the difference.
Really good episode. I'm so glad you had such a positive experience here. As an Israeli I can say that so many of us still hold on to the hope and belief that peace and coexistence is possible. We are out protesting our government and it's unwillingness to end the war for their own selfish reasons. Obviously we have racist haters but they definitely do not represent most of us.
When i was in Mexico years ago, i went to a wonderful Japanese-Argentinian fusion restaurant. I often think about that restaurant when people decry "cultural appropriation."😆
I’m so happy you enjoyed your visit and the food 🤍 I grew up in tel Aviv and the call to prayer in Yaffa was always there, it was never a thing to us because it was the norm. We called it ‘moazin’ and it was always understood that we live with Muslims and it’s their thing. It was interesting to hear your take on it.
Thank you again for an interesting podcast. It is so nice to hear positive things about israel. I am an israeli jew, and i just want to say that i cant but strongly disagree with the point about education and the Arab israeli community. Over the past decade, they have become among the more educated, particularly in the medical field - doctors, nurses, lab tech, pharmacists, etc. I believe the statistic is that last year, 47% of the incoming medical professionals were native arab speakers.
31:10 this is changing over time, 50% of the pharmacists in Israel are Arabs, 30% or so of the doctors are Arabs, they do have special admission programs to help them get higher education.
Hey! Jewish, zionist, half-Persian-half-European Israeli here, and so thankful to you and the Sharaka people for your work and your visit! Let me provide a bit of context to some of the things you mentioned: Israel is indeed filled with shelters, especially in the area surrounding Gaza, where I spent most of my life. We always continue living under this threat, but some have been deeply harmed. My little brother, for example, has serious PTSD, and is afraid of holidays, because Hamas often shoots on Jewish holidays. Jerusalem definitely has a significant ultraorthodox community, though they make up roughly one third of the city population, another third is Arabs, and the other is secular and moderately religious Jews. The three dates thig is only among ultraorthodox, secular Jews will take years before marriage. Not all restaurants in Jerusalem are Kosher. The vast majority are, and this is because of demand. Some of the non-kosher restaurants face bureaucratic difficulties, which could be an intentional strategy to dissuade this, but there certainly is no law forcing kosher, and there are non kosher places in any city where there is a market for them. You offered restaurants that serve kosher and non kosher - unfortunately this is impossible. The rules of kosher are very complicated and it is not really possible for a kitchen to prepare something kosher if there is non kosher food near it. I don't doubt your friend Sabach's perspective, but Arab presence in academia is on the rise in recent years. For Arab women, it is very near the statistics for Jews, and I heard from Arab friends that in certain parts of rhe Arab community, there is a great push for serious studies, this is evinced in the high precentage of Arab doctors and pharmacists in Israel. Muaseen is generally not seen as an issue in Israel, except for in Jewish neighborhoods that are sometimes woken up at the crack of dawn with the call. They are indeed not fans. Everyone else doesn't really care. Bibi still has a lot of support, unfortunately, though most supporters ar this point just don't see an alternative so they stick with the evil they know. Our last elections took place under the influence of widespread terror and crime in the Arab community, which pushed many people to the extreme right. The leftist parties were also very weak and had a lot of infighting. I am not defending the right, I protested for months against them and the reform, but this comes in context... Regarding views on the war: there probably are some vengeful feelings, but almost every Israeli would personally sign an agreement to release the hostages and stop the war, if Hamas surrenders. Israelis have no problem with Palestinian neighbors, as long as those neighbors are not trying to kill them. Arabs living in Israel experience some discrimination, but also enjoy some legal advantages compared to Jews. It can be hard to be an Arab in Israel, but it is in no way Apartheid
I justvwant to say thank you so much jasmine for all that you. Your channel and all your interviews have given me so much hope, after dealing with so much hate from my friends in the western world, mainly from south Africa. No one believes me.. Because bo one believes the Israeli.. So it has to cone from you, and from the muslim world. All strength to all you that are so brave to speak openly

Hello ladies:) As an Israeli let me make some comments that will maybe shed some light on your observations. As someone that has a brother in the Jewish orthodox community - These arranged marriages are not coerced. The potential spouses get to make their own decision. My brother took over a year to find his wife, and she took even longer than that. This is a very communal and familial community, of course the parents are involved, but if the young woman/man are not interested no one will make them marry someone they don't like. As for the short dating process - well.. it's a matter of perspective. In this community you do not take time to FIND the correct partnership, but you CREATE it. With God's help and guidance. The relationship is part of the spiritual path. We can be critical as secular people, but in reality at least research show that they are overwhelmingly more pleased with their marraige life. It's a perspective on life, and I think it should be respected. Yes, the men in Orthodox community are more involved in the home and family life, that is those that study in the Yeshiva's. Since their wives are the breadwinners and are the only ones working - the men are much more involved with raising the kids. As for the Israeli Arabs - Obviously, as a tourist you got more of a look into the service industry. If you'd visitied hospitals and medical centers you'd see that there's an over representation for Arabs there too. 40-50% of medical staff in Israel - doctors, nurses, pharmacists, are Arabs, although they are 20% of the population. There are also a lot of Arabs in the infrastructure and building industry. There are also a lot of Arab lawyers. These are all industries of higher middle class where you'd see Arabs making a very good living. Also take into account that these restaurants where you see Arabs in service - many times are also owned by Arabs, so at least someone there is taking the cashier home. As for the call for prayer - how ironic, that I as a Jewish person don't see any problem with that. The Arabs are 20% of this country's population, it is their country as well, they are not guests here. And I would not want anyone to limit and take away their worship rights, same as I wouldn't allow anyone to hurt Jewish people's right to worship. Israel is a liberal democratic country, and freedom of religion is a major principal for us. We live alongside the Muslims, and we are used to them practicing their religion next to us. Thank you for visiting our country, you are so welcome to come back, it's so interesting to hear a visitor's perspective of my homeland. 💙🤍💙
Hello Yasmin. New sub here. Listened to the interview from Cult to Consciousness about your extraordinary life experience. Looking forward to future podcasts. Nira
Omg I had no idea in the koran it implies that child sacrifice is encouraged and seen as virtuous/pious. In Judaism is told specifically to point out NOT to do that and no matter what, god would never want that from you. That’s the life lesson. And yes it was seen as a test of his devotion to god that he almost went that far even though all in his nature was against it and was crying asking god why would you want me to do something like this, please don’t make me do this
Yasmine I just adore you, you are such a courageous woman and true to your convictions. What a wonderful adventure, and I am so happy for you and the path your life has taken.
And yes, Israeli food is the best in the world. Iraqi Jewish food in Israel is the best, amba as well. The chili sauce is "chili matok", sweet chili. It's Thai :)
Also, it's legal to sell non-kosher food anywhere in Israel, but opening a non-kosher restaurant in Jerusalem would probably not do very well. In Tel Aviv, there are tones lol.
I love listening to you. As an Israeli living in Europe listening to you makes me smile and enjoy your experiences. I wish i wish i wish we could bring all the muslims in the world and all the anti semites to come visit and be true to their real feelings without envy to just admit that they blindly hate people who do not mean them harm and want to to see the day come when they wont be hated for nothing but envy.
Nobody forces restaurants or food factories to be kosher. Knowing that having kosher food will bring more customers makes most places prefer to be kosher in Israel. Naturally, there are a lot of non kosher restaurants in Tel Aviv and other secular areas. Just like vegan restaurants are more popular in certain areas...
You made me cry. “They go there to that exact mosque to curse you, and you let them.” Yes. Because we cannot change someone else, we can only change our reaction. Therefore, you saw the shelters at the playground. You ladies are wise, wise beyond your years. You get it. I am so sorry that you have to get it, but you do. ❤
Thank you for your warm words. It is so wonderful to hear your experience and thoughts on my beloved homeland. I am a Jewish israeli and I support netaniyahu and Ben Gvir. I support that because they understand the islamists better then the leftists. They understand that there are no negotiation with these extremists while the left thinks if we give them the heart of the homeland than the islamist would stop killing us
I'm an Israeli.

I was thinking the same! Shabbat or more pharmacies on any day really.
True, I keep telling people intelligent Arabs who wanted to live in a democracy live and fight for Israel.
We're supposed to be horribly racist yet put our lives in the hands of Arabs and Muslims every day.
@@dmeisler1 yes mixing is good as they see that Jewish people are not the demons that Gazans or other Arabs are brainwashed to believe.
Hello Yasmine, Israeli Arab here. multiple points that I want to mention.
1) A lot of Arabs in the service industry: yes, but at the same time they are somehow over represented as doctors pharmacists etc. in Israel
2) the Christian Arabs are actually the most educated population in Israel. but they are a tiny minority.
@gilyashar also, they are some of the tastiest, well made food Israel has to offer❤
Thank you so much for these facts!! Would love it if someone interviewed you :)
That all sounds 100% right
as u know, no one is stopping u from being educated. in israel, u r free to do what ever u think is right for u. not all the jewish people r educated as well. bcoz of money, bcoz of mentality ncoz of many reasons.
Happy you got a glimpse of my country. I honestly wish the beautiful people of Iran get to experience democracy and freedom as soon as possible

That is incredible.
As an Israeli from Haifa, I disagree about you saying Arab Israelies don't push their kids to be educated, it's not all Arab Israelies (Haifa Arab community is highly educated with many doctors, lawyers, engineers and more). It depends on the community. But I agree that Israeli Arabs in some areas get less educated than in other areas.
its the same for the jewish people. com on not all of us r edjucated.

The shiduchim (matchmaking) isn't something forced upon you. It's just that - matchmaking. Bringing two people together. You can say no.
It actually, against jewish law to force girls to marry against the their will.
Two very intelligent women with warm hearts and without prejudice. Thank you for being there, you are the ones who help me not to slip into despair!
Wow Yasmine, thank you for taking the time to visit our country ❤️
Yasmin, i want to tell you that with everyone Israeli lost, people start up charities, organizations, outreach programs to help, bring communities together and spread goodness.

Thank you very much from Israel! ❤️ I wish all Iranian, Palestinian and Israeli people were friends!
I loved this conversation!!! I can't stop crying.
I think most of them are traditional Arab Christians who are what I think the "Chinese of Israel", the most successful minority.
@@zjzr08 no, it's both Christians, Muslims and Druze. I live in the north of Israel which is very diverse, so I know this well. Many professionals with high education, also engineers and lawyers as mentioned before; and in the other end there are also many blue collar workers especially in construction trade.
@ayalasender That's actually nice to hear, because I know it's mostly the Christian Arabs that I know get the highest education.
you forgot the dentists ;)

they have no other choice to rebuild. one of the women literally said to her baby during the massacre "we do not have time to cry now. we must survive. we will cry later." i have heard other israeli influencers say almost the exact same thing. like, we are grieving, we are so devastated, but the time to cry is not now. now we must fight to survive. we will mourn and cry later.
That is heartbreaking.😢😢. .

Israeli Food is THE BEST I EVER had in my life.
I have read that Israelis eat a lot of Arabic foods
@@timothykeith1367 they eat a mix of European, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern foods

Every public playground in Israel has shelters nearby
Many of us in the north live with Arabs in our daily life and with great joy. And it depends on which area. And precisely the right-wingers will surprise you with their deep thinking and their acceptance of the Arab side.
As for Netanyahu, we are a democratic country, although Netanyahu is not so popular now, but even if it were to be understood, the choice of him is since the second intifada and the fear of terror. We tried so hard to lend a hand to peace and we got terror in return.. It's hard for us to trust the Palestinian side, it will probably take years now after October 7th.

Also Netanyahu strengthened the economy in Israel
Also Netanyahu sits at like 28 mandates
I would feel safer in Israel than my birth country which is like 1930s nazi Europe

I love Yasmine!
thank you for your kind words.
This is a truly beautiful video. You tackle all the difficult issues, but in such a positive way. This video should go viral.
Every Sabbath, Jews sing a song called Oseh Shalom, whose lyrics translate to:
May the one who creates peace on high bring peace to us and to all the world.
They do start families, but not before they finish their studies and work a few years in their professions.

It feels hopeless to make them see who and how we really are,
so we must keep going and focus on our path to better our lives and society.

Hi Jasmine,
As an Israeli person, I will take liberty to correct you about the food in Jerusalem.
@mashkanyc
Honestly, I respect your response and I'd be happy to go into more detail, but our space is limited.
@@mashkanyc But in the end, honestly I don't care to convince you of anything other than to not hurt anyone based on what you think you know.
You are so right we are all IDF in Israel. that’s the beauty the IDF is the people’s army it’s built from the people of the country all political sides
So lovely to listen to you unbiased girls speaking honestly about your trip to Israel. May God bless you. An Aussie here 🇦🇺
I love your description of the Israeli people.
💙💙
There are many arab Dr. and lawyers in Israel. My family Dr. is a muslim arab, a very normal thing for us.
Blessings to you two beautiful ladies from Jerusalem 💙🇮🇱🙏 Hope you enjoyed and please come again.
The green prince is not from Gaza, he is from Judea and samaria.
Amazing two women with a unusual understanding of Israel society, very impressive, thank you!
When i was in Mexico years ago, i went to a wonderful Japanese-Argentinian fusion restaurant. I often think about that restaurant when people decry "cultural appropriation."😆
Lol no such thing in Israel. We all adopt characteristics from each other's origins.

I’m so happy you enjoyed your visit and the food 🤍
I grew up in tel Aviv and the call to prayer in Yaffa was always there, it was never a thing to us because it was the norm. We called it ‘moazin’ and it was always understood that we live with Muslims and it’s their thing. It was interesting to hear your take on it.
How old are you?
Let me provide a bit of context to some of the things you mentioned:
Israel is indeed filled with shelters, especially in the area surrounding Gaza, where I spent most of my life.
Thank you ❤ from Copenhagen. Israel is SO on my bucket list.
Thank you both for visiting our country and creating this video to share your experiences with the world. Blessings and so much gratitude.
Thank you both for this talk, I really enjoyed it. More people should come and visit
The church bells had a secular reason I believe.
Used to tell people when an hour passed every time so they know.
It’s less religious.
Also the frequency is actually healing when you’re in the church. A lot of people don’t know this though!
I hear the Church bells ring out in Czechia on the hour etc, its beautiful.
Doesn't feel invasive. It's their Culture and love it.
That's the issue hearing call to prays over and over again in the UK.
Imo, it's taking the p1ss from an agnostic Christian. I'm British and I understand why the English Defence League and associates are wound up.
Research Egypt and Coptic Christians. No University protects about them.
Thank you for your amazing work of giving more people a voice Yasmine!
Hello ladies:)
As an Israeli let me make some comments that will maybe shed some light on your observations.
As someone that has a brother in the Jewish orthodox community -
These arranged marriages are not coerced.
As for the Israeli Arabs -
Obviously, as a tourist you got more of a look into the service industry.
People should learn from these women. They come from a background that proves their knowledge and experience of that ideology.
Voices like yours need to be heard!!!
And yes, Israeli food is the best in the world. Iraqi Jewish food in Israel is the best, amba as well.
The chili sauce is "chili matok", sweet chili. It's Thai :)
I think she talked about Shoug סחוג
@@xydoit2024 ah ok! For anyone who doesn't know, it's Yemenite
Love that you mentionned amba!! Also, we don't care if people talk shit about our food, more for us! :D
Also, it's legal to sell non-kosher food anywhere in Israel, but opening a non-kosher restaurant in Jerusalem would probably not do very well. In Tel Aviv, there are tones lol.
Two beautiful souls❤
