Jay, thank you so much for your feedback. I completely agree with every observation you made. Now, all I want to do is go back and re-record the sample! Thanks again!
Great job, Jessica! I know what you mean about wanting to re-record the sample. I felt the same way about the audiobook I'm working on after getting feedback from Jay. Still, you delivered a solid performance in the sample provided.
Nice read, Jessica :-) Really evocative delivery! Thanks, Jay, for the comments about breathing. I have struggled to handle breath control when reading long-form projects and you gave some good advice. cheers!
Nice one! Good performance and comments I think were absolutely right. I auditioned for a game, "struck while the iron was hot" and submitted my audition. I was just over Covid and, playing it back now, you can really hear it in my performance and my breathlessness. I should have waited 1 more week! :) Needless to say I wasn't called back.
Love it, Jay! Thanks as always for the immensely helpful tips. You graciously critiqued an audio of mine previously, and i was wondering if it's possible to send another in? I tried but the website said i had already sent one. If you only accept one, that's okay. But if you accept more than one I'd love to send my new VO promo! Thank you!
You bet! If you've already submitted I simply flag it and will get to it once all the newcomers have had their shot. That said, that list is growing somewhat. If you'd like, I also offer essentially this same thing via my website under "Quick Feedback" or "email coaching." No pressure, but you'd be able to skip the line.
Jay - I leave my breaths in my long form, but I do tend to quiet them (especially the “big” ones) when I’m processing - they are still there, but they don’t punch you in the face while your listening. Thoughts?
Yeah that's cool! However I think we VOs are often more sensitive to our breath than the average person will be, so, as long as you aren't gasping like you're drowning, more often than not I think the breaths are fine the way they are.
Great advice: focus on the thought, and the breath takes care of itself. Thank you, Jay!
Excellent advice as always.

Great work Jessica!! 😊

Ah. Next one!
Can you make a video regarding screaming, shouting grunting, you know the stuff from the diaphragm.
I’ll put it on the list!

Get the coaching if possible - even if it’s one session - I’ve done it - probably some of the best money I’ve spent related to VO
