So happy to see the blind cats enjoying the great outdoors with their friends. That’s how it should be and you are giving them the best life possible.Well done😃👏💟My little blind Guinea Pig is also enjoying his life and having fun outside with his brother who can see.I am so happy to be able to give them opportunities to explore.😊😍

You've reinforced my point. It's not just about where we live, it's what we are prepared to do to make their lives better, & having the confidence to do it. So good to hear from people who do. 😍

I not long ago lost a remarkable friend. She was born with serious life limiting health issues, and was ‘advised’ not to have a family. This she and her husband totally ignored, and they went on to be loving parents. Her husband pre-deceased her, and she lived a very full and caring life until she was in her mid nineties. Had she listened to ‘the professionals’, her life wouldn’t have been nearly as fulfilled. Your cats have much the same attitude - good luck to them all. Bless you Andrew.

@@chrisberry9017 Thank you for that wonderful comment. I've been feeling so worthless lately with my disabilities and it really encouraged me.

The front paws are what he sees with?
You know what they did at the end of the garden: A *daytime* meeting. I'm surprised they'd have one so obvious during the day. Do you think it was to help integrate the new members? 😂

Could be Kathy. Dabbing with the front paws as they walk, testing the ground. Solid is safe. Another comment was about the rear paws & the center of gravity, but is that thinking for cats in general. William & co are coming down in the dark, so does the gravity thought, work in the same way for a blind cat? or is it their senses & instincts that come into play? 🤔
Daily meetings at the moment 🤣

It makes sense to me that rear paws are used for grip and forepaws for touch and friction from pads when going head first. I can't swear to this but I believe my sighted cat does that too when descending head first. He likes complicated descent routes.

There is a video coming from last weekend. I haven't edited it yet, but Harry's descent , was about as complicated as it gets. Be interesting to see how his paws were working.

Pertaining to the back paws opening when they are downward, that is the centre of its gravity when facing down. If you apply forces to the front paw , most of the weight would transfer down there, making that stressful.
