Brian is a highly intelligent man, holding 2 or 3 degrees as well as a Ph.d. In astrophysics. He is a brainiac with a musical touch of genius. What an awesome problem to have.
Isaak dr.brian may is an astrophysicist with PhD and a professor at Oxford aside from being the lead guitarist of Queen. I once read in Rolling Stone or Mojo that he was in Spain doing his dissertation in Astronomy and was looking at the night sky when he also "thought" of a guitar riff for a song in Queen
Brian May has a Doctorate in Astronomy?! Who would have thought. I wonder if he is as awesome with astronomy as he is with guitar? Long Live Queen. Rock on.
@lindowan123 Yes, very average: a bunch who squander innate talent (and probably publicly-funded education) on making horrible noises. 'Artists' can get away with anything ... there is always some sucker who will like it.
@lindowan123 You have guessed correctly: I despise 'the arts' in general ... and I am not at all 'sad' about it. Paying taxes is not an excuse; some of the most successful prostitutes apparently do that.
@lindowan123 HaHa, the typical and vaguely sinister response of the 'touchy-feelies' who think that they speak for 'humanity'. They are always the same sort of people; the ones who get suckered-in by any dubious populist movement ... provided that it has a good backing score (Internationale, Horst Wessel song). How can anybody in their right mind admit to liking acoustic tripe like Bohemian ... whatever. I shall not even clap their funerals.
Spread Love GALILEO (the Italian astronomer, physicist and engineer) from BOH RAP is Brian. Figaro the cat from Pinocchio is John (Freddie loved Disney and Cats) , Beelzebub is Roger ( well he is a little devil) and Scaramouch ( the clown) is Freddie
Very very awesome. Everyone in Queen was/is talented. Freddie the greatest showman, Brian the guitarist and astrophysicist, Roger the drummer with a voice that could belong to a rock legend and let's not forget about the most underrated band member, John Deacon he was a phenomenal bassist but it's sad that people look past his talent.
I used a stereoscope to do geological mapping of Red Rock Canyon (CA) and it was SO AWESOME being able to see depth and it felt like being there in person doing the mapping. I'll have to borrow one from my professor to try it on Pluto!
Would you explain your theory about how fat bottom girls drive the angular velocity of the rocking world, and how rocky worlds like Pluto attain and maintain rotational momentum without fat bottom girls?
I used military filmroll style stereoscopes for years when i worked for an epa contractor right out of college. I can now merge two side by side images at will even twenty years later due to how strong my eyes have become in that regard. I cant wait for the oculus rift to come out this next year :)
To Bad this Stereophotographs won´t work for me in case of an eye issue . It´t great to see one of my favourite Guitarrist/ Rockstars ever is also an Expert in one of my favourite topics ! thanks for sharing amy
Dr May always, and I mean from my first exposure to the band as like, a 6 yea old kid looking through my parents' albums and reading the covers - he always looked like a medieval scientist and for him to actually be a DR now is just destiny manifest.. or whatever. Hero status for sure (8
0:17 Commercial 3D Photographic film cameras came out over thirty years ago, and they used 4 lenses to produce a stereoscopic full-color image. 1:56 Never heard of a VIEWMASTER?
The picture also works when you put your hand or a piece of paper in between the pictures and focus really hard... still gave me a head ache but still worked and super cool
When the Viking apacecraft landed on Mars in 1976, I bought the book of photos from NASA. At the back they provided stereoscopic photo pairs and you could view them to feel like you were on the surface of Mars looking at some famous red rocks.
The video is cool and all that but, is it me or did they get it wrong with the pen? I mean, if you look with your left eye, the pen should seem to be on the right and if you look at it with your right eye, it will seem to be on the left side, huh?
fadetounforgiven Nothing is wrong with the pen, they are showing exactly what you wrote, that each eye see things from a subtle different angle and it combines both images in the brain to form a 3D image.
Federico Astica yes... except they're doing the other way around. If you watch again, you'll see they've put the pen on the left when they're writing "left eye" and on the right with "right eye". Unless that means "left eye closed" and "right eye closed" respectively, it's wrong.
Brian thankfully is not as ignorant as Dawkins and Brian COx he actually recognises we don't cease to exist at the point of death as Cox arrogantly stated recently. In fact the true nature of consciousness has never been understood by science.
How can he recognize that if there's no actual proof that we don't cease to exist when we die? How could anybody know that? I'm sorry, but YOU are the ignorant here (and everybody who believes that).
I envy them. I don't have stereoscopic vision because of my strabismus (my left eye doesn't look forward, but to the side) and I'm never able to see a stereoscopic image with this kind of gizmo.
Interestingly enough, if you look at a photo with just one eye (the way the camera "saw" the subject), and keep looking for a while, you will start seeing depth and 3D shape of the scene. I know it sounds ridiculous, but try it anyway. My theory is that the camera, with its one "eye", captures more than just the flat 2D scene, and you need to look at the photo the same way the camera was "looking" - using just one eye.
No... without two points of view there is no stereoscopic reference to gather any data about depth. What IS happening though is your brain, being the unbelievably powerful thing it is, is attempting to fill in depth information based on previous experience. If you close one eye the entire world doesn't suddenly go flat... because your brain has amassed an insane about of experience with how the world actually looks and just maps that onto the single visual input. When both your eyes are open looking at a photo your brain knows it's 2d. With one eye closed your brain only knows it is getting half of the input signal and so attempts to fill in the missing data. Your brain does this all the time, on the fly, in real time in an attempt to make the most sense possible of the world around you.
I agree. Actually, the IAU should admit our solar system only has 4 real planets - Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The rest (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Pluto) are so small. They're just tiny, insignificant little turds you'd never see from another star. It's kinda like the idiot who decided that Europe and Asia are TWO continents. How can that be? Pluto should have a special place as a real planet. Then let the IAU call the rest of the Kuiper belt objects dwarf/sub planets, or whatever. I feel much better now, thank you.
It's still in the Solar system, it's just not defined as a planet any more, just like the Moon, Sun, Ceres, Juno, Vesta, and Pallas they got new designations ...
@MrAaronvee I see you're another UA-cam Certified Fact Checker and "Expert Keyboard Warrior" who had little positive to say about this video and Dr, May. Why don't you give us the title of your "book" so we can have at it, too. I can almost see your hands stained with the juice of sour grapes.
Dr. May rocks on many levels.
Totally agree!
Robert Blaskiewicz So true it's almost an understatement.
So does Amy. Big fan of her too!
You got to work with Brian May??? I'm sooooo jealous!!!
USWaterRockets he’s an Astrophysicist
Hard rocking astrophysicist. My mind is BLOWN.

LOL!
Aah i see what you're doing there 😂
Well done

Astrophysicist+ Rock Guitarist=WOAH SUCH A GREAT TALENTED PERSON, MY MIND IS BLOWN! I LOOSE BRIAN MAY WINS!
You forgot to add his animal rights work.
Lose, not loose, unless you like to be on the loose
Brian May rocks, both literally and figuratively!
Brian May has a Doctorate in Astronomy?! Who would have thought. I wonder if he is as awesome with astronomy as he is with guitar? Long Live Queen. Rock on.
Perhaps everyone who judged his doctoral work was a Queen fan.

@lindowan123 Astronomy and astrophysics are basically the same thing and are most of the time used to mean the same thing.
i respect him for so many reasons. a music genius, a doctorate in astrophysics... if only i could be like him :’)
waitaminute brain may, founder of queen is actually also an astrophysic? holy cow how awesome is this guy?
Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy? Hey - I'm askin' a question here!

Saw Bohemian Rhapsody recently and I never knew Brian May is an Astrophysicist until after seeing it.
AMAZING!😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
"Who even is Galileo?" LOL
Brian May is amazing. I love his hair style.

I tip my hat to you sir! Dad humour and intellect mixed is the best :)

Amy AND Brian. Spaceflight historian AND epic guitarist? Just made my day.
Three of the coolest inhabitants of the solar system. Amy, Brian and Pluto.
Btw “Amy” is an anagram of “May”. What a team.
He had mercury and now he's educating us on pluto. He's really a rockstar astrophysicist... 😄👍👍👍
Awesome! Thank you, Dr. May!
Brian may is a f!!!ing Legend
Just when I thought this story couldn't get any better, Brian freaking May shows up!
Astrophysicist+Rock guitarist. I wish I was as awesome as Dr. Brian May :0
This man seems really great, he should give us a run down of interesting facts about all the planets in our solar system, starting from mercury.
Which he would copy from Wikipedia: why not cut out the pretend-scientist middle-man?
@@MrAaronvee Rude you are 😒
I see what you did there and I like it. Mercury.😄😃😀🤗
Stereoscopy + Cosmology = A Kind of Magic

Amy AND Brian May?! How did I not know about this until now...?!?! 🤯
Great job Amy, awesome video.
Brian May is amazing, so much respect for this man

Astrophysicist, Sir Isaac Newton impersonator and sometime musician, Brian May 🙂
You Sir, rock!
I dont have a stereoscope viewer, but I could see the 3-D effect by crossing my eyes until the center image lined up LOL
Mike Flavin The moon pics worked for me, but when I look at the stereoscopic pics of Pluto, I see the surface as the bottom of a round bowl.
Mike Flavin Yup. Works every time.
Jeff Lima may be you should stand on your head while watching it .... or just flip the paper around
That won't work. He has to turn 180degrees and look the other way.
I've also been fascinated about the parallax phenomenon when you alternately close your left and right eye to view an object.
That's not a minute and since you already broke the rule, give us more, please! MOAR!
Brian May has to be the coolest guy alive!

Tommy Lourdes If you look at pictures, he actually resembles Sir Isaac Newton quite a bit! Coincidence, or ????
@lindowan123 What do an Astrophysicist, Electrical Engineer Dentist/Biologist and Graphic artist have in common ...
Is Brian May your thesis director!? OMG!!!
Congratulations Brian! You got the job that you wished to had
Is Dr. Brian May that Brian May??
Yup. Started out with Mercury. And now he's taken us to Pluto.
Yes he is. Brian may of the band Queen, does have a PHD in astronomy.
@@smiffy1071 That does not make him a scientist. A scientist devotes himself to science.
@@lieutenantkettch Well done; you eschewed the obvious joke about Freddy Mercury and Uranus!
MrAaronvee I never said he was a scientist, you did! I only said he had a phd....

I know this is a science bit but how cool would it had been if he had produced a guitar at the end of the video and played some AWESOME guitar licks.
I guess you could say that Stereoscopic images are...A Kind of Magic

Wow! Amy you held it together amazingly well. If I met Brian May, I would probably pee my pants. Then again, if I met you I would probably faint.
Pluto Rhapsody .... cheers!
Freddie would be proud 😌
I love Amy, Brian rules and rocks :)
Nice explanation, but I think that the "left eye" and "right eye" labels are inverted in the pen animation.
The show must go on...
go on...
go on.....
go on........
Brian May, better known with his extensive work with Mercury, is also an expert on Pluto.
you two work well, together.
My two favorite topics... stereoscopy and space!
Amy is awesome!
Right and Left eyes see the pen like this then you must be standing upside down :)
Really appreciate the efforts ... Your videos ROCK!
I had to swap the images so I could see without aid of a device.

Bring Pluto back in the solar system. Having it removed has been 2 steps backwards in the progress of astronomy. It's an outrage.
