Raymond's development last season was amazing. At the end of the season, he was already the best player of the Red Wings. Raymond was capable of great personal performances in tough spring games.. ( Raymond almost single-handedly kept the Red Wings in the Playoff fight with great personal performances.. Last 5 games: 5+4 = 9 points and +/- statistic: +5)
Question: how many seasons is it for each of them, before they would be unrestricted at the end of a contract? If they sign a bridge deal for 2-4 years, and are still restricted free agents at the end of that time, I would be OK with that, and we'll see how much the salary cap goes up during that time. But I wouldn't want to see either of them sign a short bridge deal, and then leave as an unrestricted free agent at the end of it.

8x8 is already kinda high for Raymond. He’s had half a year of real decent hockey. No idea what he turns into down the road. This team doesn’t need long bad contracts. That’s how we got here to begin with. You can’t compare him to draisaitl. That’s crazy

The Wings have 17.6 million left. That’s more than enough to get both signed to 8x8’s and signing Berggren. Not sure that’s the scenario that plays out though.
8X8's for both would be a dream come true. Any responsible forward scoring 70+ will typically get 8 mill. Raymond could score 80's or 90's down the road. Then, 8 mill would be a bargain. Common sense would suppose that their agents are probably asking for 9X8. Eventually something will get done though. Yzerman has shown that he will reward hard playing hockey players regardless of skill level (Rasmussen). Berggren though, they do not like very much. Most likely his offer is for 1 to 1.25 mill. Although his one year in the NHL suggests he is worth 1.75 to 2 mill for his 28 points provided that he can repeat it. I'm sure Yzerman wants a prove it deal with Berggren for one year like Veleno last year. Most likely Berggren's agent wants 2 or 3 years at full NHL pay. To his credit he did not file for arbitration. That filing would have put him on bad terms with Yzerman right off the rip.
I understand these guys want to make as much as possible but at the same time why would you want to handicap your team in the future by demanding more money? Take your 8 million, move and be a competing team for years to come. Imagine these guys want another million each. Now in the future that 2 million can be the difference between a great signing to keep them contenders.
Let's hope their egos don't get in the way of their value for the team , They may want "ALL STAR" player money and they are NOT "ALL STARS", They're good and I'm glad we have them, but they didn't get at least one vote for the all star team. The're egos and their agents egos should accept "GOOD PLAYER" money and not "ALL STAR" money
