These guys came out to a party in rural, and I mean way rural, Geneseo farm party that my band just happened to be playing cover tunes at (Metallica Megadeth etc.) We had no idea they were there and just happened to be covering "indecent obsessions". I don't know who was more shocked, them for driving two hours west of Chicago and hearing themselves being covered, or us when two of them came up on stage, stopped the song, brought some of their own stuff and joined us. Greatest night I've ever had. Lit the fire. Zoetrope forever.
this album fucking rocks. Have it on vinyl. Got it for 2 bucks in a box of "damaged" records at a local store and it plays fine. In that same box I also got Speak english or die, Hell Hammers apocalyptic raid and Ravens wiped out all for 2 bucks each...I sold hell hammer for 100 bucks lol.
I was with these guys a lot in their early stages before this album was released. First time I heard them in a club called Rusty Nail (Chicago) I knew where they were headed. From that point we became good friends One night I had my Gibson S.G. and Kevin Michael jammed on it for their first set. Great band with so many memories. RIP Barry but I have this feeling your kicking it out up there. Only thing I wish is where they all ended up. Kenny Black I believe is living in Hawaii leaving after his stint with Sharon Tate's Baby. As for the rest I have no clue.
Oh the personal irony for me in your post. lol My cousin is Kevin Michael, the founder and guitarist of Zoetrope. I’m from Scottsdale Arizona and used to see Jason around locally in his Flotsam and Jetsam days. Then Jason gets the gig with Metallica and that pic you are mentioning with him wearing my cuz’s band shirt. I called Kevin and teased him that Jason owes him royalties for advertising Zoetrope lol.
I played this album to death in the 80's. Why didn't it get more credit?? Kick ass in your face street metal with a real high testosterone energy level! 🔥🤘🔥
Barry Stern was a Metal Legend. Chicago Legend and a super nice guy. I was only 12 when I would see him at Metal shows at Rosemont Horizon with his long curly hair and thick glasses and he would always say hi to us kids 🤘
Seen this band at The Metro in Chicago back in 1985 excellent show, Barry Stern.R.I.P. was a great drummer he went on to drum in Trouble another great Chicago band. \m/
Great album, fantastic band. I have known them since the Metal Log Vol.I demo. The Amnesty album rips. This band deserved WAY MORE attention; Chicago's answer to Exciter!
@@indamood8806Way less boring than Exciter and especially the mid-80’s stuff with enticing titles like “ Long Live The Loud”? Wtf does that even mean, right? My brother, Eric Stevenson was the biggest Zoetrope fan. I believe that his friend Steve Fahy turned him on to them. Either way it meant Zoetrope on the turntable all day, in between Sticky Fingers and Led Zeppelin, ha! This one got alot of play in our house. I loved it too but, you know. Then came Life Of Crime and, HOLY SHIT! Twice the Zoetrope twice the plays. I was in Zoetrope overload.
love this band..smoked weed with barry and calvin outside city limits in pittsburgh pa..they headlined an all day show i believe..saw them 3 or 4 times..raw band, but really rocked.
Barry’s dead? Oh dang. RIP bro! Loved the band. Never had a chance to see them. Not sure if they ever came to Boston. Probably. wished I had seen 5hem.
I remember seeing these guys the first I was wondering who the hell is singing I'll be damned it's the drum player I met Barry one time at the Oak he was very cool guy We miss him greatly
Saw these guys in east moline, IL. 1986. Local band Insane Aggression opened. Zoetrope killed. Nuclear Assault headlined. Met em all at the bar. All drunk as fuck. Especially N.A. great show!
RIP Barry met them at the metro Barry was very cool guy they would hang with the fans they were ahead of time should got more regonition .bought there albums played the hell out of them .
Loved this album from when it came out. Still love it. For me it will always be one of the greatest Thrash albums, up there with Bonded by Blood, Kill em All, Feel the Fire, Killing Technology, Master of Disguise, Speak English or die and Metal Church - which are all debut albums btw (ok, Killing Technology isn`t)... ☺☺☺
it's not part of the original pressing. It was added on the re issues. I have no idea why, this album doesn't need it. This is a great rip if you don't have the original album. I seen them many times as a teenager and stage dived like crazy at their shows.

These guys perfectly blended power, thrash and groove!! Such a kick-ass album start to finish!!!

Same Here 25p!
I got S.O.D too!!!! hehe!!!!!
one of the few thrash band , that pefectly knew how to groove it !!! barry's singing was just like paul stanley on pcp ...
Zoetrope was definitely ahead of their time fellow metal brothers and sisters!!!!!! All of their music is current and as brutal as today's metal is

First time i checked these guys out was because of Jason Newsted, wearing a Zoetrope shirt, back in the day.

But the second album was a disappointement...

Killer early thrash/speed metal album. Barry Stern killed it on 1990 Trouble album as well, another Chicsgo metal masterpiece.

Yes, indeed: one of the reasons why this is such a good album…
love this band..smoked weed with barry and calvin outside city limits in pittsburgh pa..they headlined an all day show i believe..saw them 3 or 4 times..raw band, but really rocked.
This brings back a lot of memories. Diamond Rexx opened for these guys a bunch of times.
Love this album! good band, good songs & Barry was a hell of a talent, R.I.P.
Chicago metal at its best.. nothing like seeing them live.miss the old days 😌

Great Old School Thrash Metal! Loved it! Very underrated band back in the 80's. Thanks for sharing!

I talked To Barry at the Oak Theatre King DiamomnD show very nice guy I'm very sorry he passed super talented and nice guy
Thanks Bro!
where's the Uncommon Valor sample at the beginning?
Strangely missing from my copy. May have been on the Roadrunner version, if that's where the CD is sourced from.

Crazy, i had no idea. I have the original canadian Cobra Records pressing that has the sample when it was released.
Killer!
FUCKING THRASH METAL MAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!GODS OF THRASH!!!! \m/ \m/
Street metal
Rip is pretty good, I like it. Did you keep it lossless?
How do I get a cop?
But where´s the intro gone?
My US Combat copy didn't have it, oddly. Apparently the Cobra and (maybe) the Roadrunner versions still have it, as well as the later CD ones.
@@Bashe86 Ah, that´s the reason. I have the Roadrunner original. Well, actually I got 2 of them...
