No, most the writers know nothing about Star Wars, even the showrunner hasn't seen most the films which is why she doesn't like any particular one more than the other or have any favorite scenes. The idiot doesnt know any.
So after the head writer wrote this B.S. she watched Star Wars when they are already filming. That doesn't fix anything.

Rogue One isn't the best example though. At least five people were doing rewrites on that script and Gilroy's been upfront that it was a mess before he was brought in the second time. Plus there were a handful of reshoots and you can tell in the first two acts. Act III is still a blast but I get the sense Andor was a more refinded version of what he wrote for Rogue One.

Lol, it's so funny how people act like 'canon' isn't what makes a story a story. If you want to do something different then don't call it Star Wars. It's stupid to pretend like it's a real universe with 'all these stories to tell' when it's all fiction. Hugely ironic to say 'not bogged down by canon' when fundamentally calling it Star Wars means you're either going with canon or not writing Star Wars. Time to stop acting it's real, and stop acting like it's 'artistic freedom' to cram some random story under the Star Wars banner like it means anything.

@jamescarter3196 to a degree, canon is important, yes. But it’s not so important that every writer needs to have incredibly intimate knowledge of every detail of the history of the universe. That’s part of what the story group and Filoni are there for. But with writers and people that aren’t as familiar, or as reverent, they can bring new ideas. Andor was fabulous despite Tony having as much reverence, possibly even as a result partly from that lack.
People are freaking out about the writer…but she did go back and watch the movies. The writers room knows the content. The one person did her research, and apparently became a valuable resource because then they have a “new viewer” perspective in the room to bounce ideas off of to make sure they land.
Canon is, ultimately, malleable in a lot of ways. It’s not set in stone. Retcons change things. New stories could shed different light. It’s not like their gonna, say just as a purely hypothetical example, kill Yoda in this if he were to appear, but perhaps his appearance helps bridge a gap, or shed light on a different point of his story between The High Republic books and the prequels.

It's not using the Volume, its action is apparently influenced by the Darth Maul fight, and it's based on books with a unique take on the Jedi and Force. In other words, this is what fans claim they wanted in a new Star Wars show - they really can't be mad at The Acolyte for doing something new.

Trust me HG, from the future, Acolyte is trash. As a minority, and someone who identifies under the LGBT, I never asked for them to make this insult to lore writers by changing Ki Adi Mundi's age and racial origins, I never asked them to make a non-binary caricature gopher, I never asked for characters that make unbelievable decisions for the sake of progressing the plot, I never asked for Anakin's origins to be rendered meaningless, I never asked to have Luke Skywalker ignore the failures of the Jedi and his father, I never asked for them to have Anakin tell Ashoka to change the Jedi as a force spirit when he should have told Kylo that the voice he was hearing was Palpatine, or Anakin should have told Luke that it is wrong to want to kill his nephew just because of a force vision that may or may not come to pass, I never asked for them to replace all the amazing characters we had from the EU that were all diverse amounts of races genders and species. Kathleen Kennedy failed, Leslie Headland is pandering to people like me with basic stereotype checkboxes instead of focusing on telling a character focused story, and blaming all of us fans who think its bad calling us "bigots", even fans who are not white or straight like myself, not even the female audience they are marketing to like this show either. The fact this had $190 million behind it makes me think that I wasted my life focusing on creative writing.

This is what worries me, obviously in the EU the Jedi did encounter Sith after Darth Banes Rule of Two but they were killed off before they could say anything, so any Jedi who encounters a Sith in this series has to die in order for the show to make sense.

I'm very curious to see how they'll handle it. I think it could be believable since the PT also showed how the Jedi's hubris got in the way of their actual job. It could also be that we either may not be seeing a Sith and just a Dark Jedi or a non Rule of Two Sith and either way it gets swept under the rug.

All of Grievous is pointless filler lol we really have no reason to give a shit about him at all, like you know he's gonna die less than an hour after he's introduced, and all he does is give a sidequest to Obi-Wan, who is characterized like an idiot for it.
And even if Queen Amidala was bland as hell, and ep 2 Senator Padme was an idiot for sleeping in an open window with a known hit on her, and for getting with Anakin a known fascist-supporting megalomaniacal murderer who gives her the creepy eyes and is just a whiny asshole in general, she at least had personal motivations and goals in those two movies. Ep 3 Padme purely exists to be pregnant, be manipulated by Palpatine, and die.

Nicholas Meyer was the writer and director of 'Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan'. For many, that's the best Star Trek film to date. When he was hired, he was not exactly a fan. He said, "When I was a kid and 'Star Trek' was on TV, I had no use for it." He also directed 'The Undiscovered Country', which is also an excellent film. The notion that only knowledgeable fans of an IP are capable, or even worth it, of writing/directing films and series of that particular IP is stupid.

Is it bad to say that I am just getting a little bit tired of new Star Wars content? I don't mean this because I particularly liked or disliked any of the new media, but just because we are overmilking it. When will the time come to let Star Wars rest on its laurels? The more we build on it, not only do we run the risk of messing with a good thing, but every single time the universe is revisited it comes with more and more baggage in the "lore." When Irvin Kershner directed Empire Strikes Back he wasn't particularly invested in lore or if it "felt like Star Wars" but that was fine and in fact worked to his benefit and generated what I believe is the single best piece of Star Wars media ever produced purely because the story was so new at that time. There was no baggage to be weighed down by and that creative freedom is what generates good stories.
I think Greedo is making a good point when he is saying he wants new stories, but I don't think he is getting all the way there because he still wants it in the Star Wars universe which I believe fundamentally hurts it. To this show's credit they are bringing in a director who doesn't have a preexisting knowledge of Star Wars and isn't necessarily invested in it from a fan perspective all in a setting within Star Wars that isn't particularly tied up with preexisting lore. I think that is a good thing, and it sounds like something I could possibly like considering by criticisms of where Star Wars is right now. But frankly, I still don't know if I am going to watch it simply because it is in the Star Wars universe. Don't get me wrong I love Star Wars deeply. The original trilogy will always be some of my favorite films of all time, I love Revenge of the Sith and the style of the Phantom Menace, I believe the Clone Wars (especially the final season) is some of the best Star Wars content out there, and Andor really was a great breath of fresh air. But Star Wars has gotten to a point where there being a group decrying "lore discontinuities" is a given, and maybe this show will break lore or not "feel like Star Wars" and maybe it won't. But for it to even be possibly weighed down by that and for people to already dismiss the show because of that is such a shame because I believe the best art is made when creativity is allowed to flourish, and having to follow lore hurts creativity just as much as any studio exec.
Of course this show hasn't come out, but when it does and if people lambast it for not following continuity or not feeling like Star Wars all I can think then is how differently it may have been received if it wasn't set in the Star Wars universe. What if this was a brand new sci-fi show coming out? How would the reception already be different? There are so many great and creative directors out there with new and exciting ideas that are being completely hindered when they get attached to universes like Star Wars.

Personally i just felt that the show would have been better being its own original media instead of being what it was and not having anything familiar. For star wars i think that could be fine considering the vast amount of content we have and are continuing to get so people unfamiliar could be a breath of fresh air with how vast the star wars universe is it has the size to compensate for it. where as the Halo it was Halos first major production outside the games and some short animated series
