I knew all of these men as a child back in the late 1960's and the 1970's. Sajad Haider, Daudpota, Atiq Sufi, Cecil Chaudry and many others. It is really sad that this generation of our nation who truly gave their heart and soul in the two wars are now slowly fading out of sight. And what is really heartbreaking is, as in the case of Bill Latif, some received absolutely no recognition whatsoever for their exemplary service. This was truly a special group and they made the Pakistan Airforce what it is today.
Pl. Dont bracket cecil with great names of Bill Latif, Mervin middlecoat, Eric hall , Christie and others who would die but never lie. Unfortunately Cecil did and no one from local to hi command corrected this shame.

Cecil never shot a single aircraft in 65, had run away from Halwara which caused loss of PAF’s two aces Sarfraz Rafiqui n Yunus. Same in 71 under my command he lied again shooting an SU 7. He brought the finest crop of Christian officers of PAF a shame they did not deserve. He used Media ruse because his father was Presidential photographer. He may have done well as educationist later but the wars he indulged in fables and contrived bravado. This is a fact but in Pakistan truth is covered with layers of falsehood as national malaise.

I was quite unfamiliar with the controversial aspects (as you have related) of some folks which were spoken about by my father (Cecil included) much later in life. You knew my father quite well and vice versa.

I'm now 55 years old and son of an retired sobedar. Since my child hood I read the stories of PAF heroes and their actions. My salute to both legendary war heroes, they are bold, courageous and straight forward. I love and appreciate the Christian pilots of PAF as well.
Was the base commander of Masroor(Mauri pur) air base in 1971 Abdur Rahim Khan. Sir correct me if I m wrong, I just search Wikipedia to know the name of base commander during 1971 war.

But never the the men in the field or pilots in the air. IAF official losses were declared by them as 74 to all causes vs PAF losses of 22 aircraft.
