As already mentioned - you can make a lot of FX by yourself - sure - with the right equipment. In my opinion, the main reason for buying this is the simplicity of handling such instruments and its FX. I am using a lot of Heavyocity products because of those reasons: They are very easy and effective and very inspiring! Of course there might be more "professional realistic" sounding instruments, but that´s not the point of Heavyocity. I think they try to create new sounds and their purpose is as they mention it: "Raw inspiration".
I wonder if you can lower the volume of the principal piano sound in relation to the effects in case you want to use a different core piano VSTI blended with this instrument. I know Noire lets you do this, though I don't own it ...yet.
@@wardy2783 No I never did. I might gamble on it next time Ascend is on sale. I started an exploration on VST effects that could give me a similar sound and I upgraded to Ableton Suite to take advantage of Max4Live. There's also a cool VST called Phrasebox that can be combined with a multitap delay for very interesting auto accompaniment in key. But yeah I have my piano sound covered so I'm just exploring ways to get an inspiring auto accompaniment of sorts.
@@Garflips that sounds cool...yeah I have heard many others say to use your own vst effects etc to create you own sounds similar to ascend....ascend is nearly half price on native instruments at the moment although it's finished in a few days...I will go ask someone else who has this library your question and get back to you ....as I will grab it if I can add my own piano and just use the effects etc of ascend...cheers
@@wardy2783 Okay I see it now yeah 90 bucks - still kind of pricey for just the effect but it is cool. Seems I looked in the manual for an answer and didn't find it so if you find out something, post it here if you think about it. 😊
Hi I bought this and really like it .. almost a infinite library of piano expression. It is in fact exactly the instrument I have desired for years. Same thing goes for the Vocalise series and used in combination with the Ascend I really am inspired ...being creative and most all having fun with composition. I’m available for after dinner talks...showcase sessions interviews 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Best Limbic 👏👏👏👏🙏🎶🎵🦄🎩
while the sounds are impressive, it would be nice to have a camera on your keyboard, I cannot tell what you are playing and what the software is doing.
I got it, but the samples load so insanely slowly. I have an iMac pro with the 10-core processor, and 64gb of ram. I have about 2tb of other sample libraries that load within 3 seconds each. I can't figure out why. Once stuff loads it's super nice, but I won't be able to incorporate it in my work unless I figure out how to get the samples to load quicker
@@marshallusinger8302 I ended up moving it to a different SSD. Weirdly enough, it's the exact same brand and model as the initial SSD, but it loads very quickly now fortunately. Lovely library!
it made me think a little of Native Instruments / Niels Frahm's Noire piano and its particles engine, though there seems more of a focus on interesting production effects in this one. Despite loving the acoustic vibe of Noire, this sounds great too.
It's a very poorly sampled a piano sound overall. All the useless effects mask the poor sonic quality. The piano timbre itself is short with a thumpy cheap sound. They boast a Steinway Model D but that makes no difference whatsoever given the poorly implemented concept. Tons of reverb cover a poor quality piano sound. Better off with any other piano sample based instrument, there are plenty on the market that don't try and be something else. Unimpressed entirely. Noire and Una Corda are far far better and of high sonic quality. Even Steinberg's The Grand 3 is much much better.

Jean thanks for taking the time to share your detailed thought on this. Have to agree it’s about simplicity in sound design
Amazing! This is gorgeous. This piano combined with Native Instruments NOIRE Piano will get you a ticket to heaven...
Great review, thanks. Interested now that it is 50% off for the first time.
Pretty interesting piano. Love Heavyocity for bringing something special with every new instrument in comparing with other companies )))
Thanks for sharing your thoughts InsightTV. They do seem to have a special take on whatever they do
Thank you for such a comprehensive review - really covered all the bases! Awesomeness - I will get this just to experiment with - so inspirational!

@@Garflips have you heard of westwood instruments alt piano..that one is great and also a great price
In the relation to the rhythmic arps ...it would be interesting to experiment by routing the Ascend midi output to some string articulations 🙏🦄🎩
beside noire and cfx garritan one of the best piano vsts

I know it’s a bit of a silly question but can you use this if you are not a piano player? I can play the keyboard but I’m no pianist!
Of course you can.
You sound so alike Don :)
Contributors have to take a 5 week "How to sound like Don" course before they can make videos for the channel :)😂
heavocity guys always surprise

did you batch resave it? it loads pretty quickly on my end. hope you get a chance to use it.
