      If you have secured a place to live for a long time in advance, prepare the contract in advance and the Korean government will guide you through the process of checking with the owner of the facility directly, so that you can go to an immigration taxi or transportation, where you can self- quarantine.

    So nice how the Korean government treats travelers. It's funny that you mentioned how fast Koreans speak Korean, I met some Koreans came to Vietnam they told me the same thing about how fast Vietnamese talk , and I would say the same thing with your talking speed. However, I did understand everything you said, but I think Korean is harder since it is not as popular as English. It seems like linguistic learners always struggle with keeping up with native speakers. Good content, good luck, and god speed.

    • @SiennaSanter
      @SiennaSanter  4 роки тому +35

      right? i always thought it was me bc none of my friends could relate but i think it’s actually pretty common! what’s helped me is knowing that around the afternoon time, especially if i’m on my own, haven’t worked out or interacted with people all day, and if i’ve spent a lot of time on technology, that i’ll start to feel that way and i can take steps to prepare myself. i’ll usually make a “happy list” of things i can do when i feel that way, like going outside and being in nature, exercising, talking to a friend, or doing something creative, and that usually helps ! but you don’t have to “fix” that feeling all the time too sometimes you’re just sad and down and that’s totally okay and you can allow yourself to feel that way

    • @clara8793
      @clara8793 4 роки тому +6

      Sienna Santer i totally agree. acceptance is so important and as someone who has cyclothymic disorder it’s really important for me (and others of course!) to know that it is totally ok to be sad and everyone is like that sometimes even if it doesn’t seem that way. and i’m actually writing this in the late afternoon and I’m feeling a bit down so I’m gonna go on a run. the “happy list” is such a good idea I might steal that from you lol

    Firstly, congrats on making it through 14 days in quarantine. I know how stir crazy one gets - my dad and I are in quarantine right now, and it’s not fun. Thank goodness for the internet, huh? Also, I’m so glad you found vegetarian options! I’d love it if it could make a video about places where you can eat/buy vegetarian food in Seoul. I’m vegetarian myself, so it’s kinda a selfish video request, haha. And finally, when I was in Singapore, I accidentally got some flavoured peanuts which turned out to have prawn in them, so maybe checking the ramen ingredients might be a good idea? Angie M oh my goodness, where are you in quarantine for two weeks in a hotel like that? I was in quarantine in a hotel in the UK, and after I left, I ended up buying the stuff coffee and goodies for breakfast. I had some not so pleasant experiences, but a lot of it was just out of the stops control, and I also have a disability and was not being supported by any outsider organizations. I made a couple of videos during my quarantine two that are up on my channel. I speak many different languages, and some of the staff were from Greece, Arab speaking countries, Spain, etc. Had they not been around to talk to, I would have gone insane. I also took Arabic lessons every day. I had to order my food from places like restaurants delivering with Uber eats, and sometimes the drivers would arrive, not tell anyone they were at the lobby, and just go off and take my food, but I would still be charged. So it was a pretty anxiety inducing experience. I am visually impaired by the way, and I'm using dictation so I hope you can understand my posts.

    I've never seen any of your videos and am currently 14mins in to this one (was on a wormhole of Korean quarantine videos) and I had to just stop and comment about how I'm so happy seeing someone be so grateful, understanding, and appreciative of the situation they're in.
    I have had to stop and leave these other clickbaity "foreigner in quarantine videos" because it became glaringly obvious that they were not even being mindful of other cultures and though not outright, their attitudes showed a negative/selfish worldview.
    "No one spoke English!"
    "You have to bring shampoo because the ones here suck"
    "They gave me snacks, but I don't like (won't try) these"
    Thank you so much for sharing your experience wholeheartedly and with mutual respect! Good luck on your stay!

    Sienna, I found your vlog when I learned that we could visit South Korea with a 14-day quarantine. We had planned to travel abroad last year but the pandemic prohibited that. Our daughter's birth sister is in Seoul. She has visited us twice. We would love to see her again, so I looked for airline tickets next summer. Then I read the quarantine details.
    I appreciate how well you're showing your experience with this. You've answered many of my questions about what the quarantine is like. Both my husband and I are in our seventies. Seeing your videos, I have to conclude that although I could handle this very well, my husband would most definitely not. So we'll hope for a shorter quarantine or a different destination. Thank you for making the situation clear!
