- Mexico Suspends Diplomatic Relations With Ecuador After Embassy Raid
Mexico has suspended diplomatic relations with Ecuador with immediate effect. This comes after the Ecuadorian Police raided the Mexican embassy in Quito on April 5 to arrest the former vice president of Ecuador, Jorge Glas. The arrest was made hours after Mexico granted Glas political asylum who sought safe passage to leave the country. He was living in the Mexican embassy to escape arrest in connection with a corruption case. He has already been convicted twice for corruption in different cases in the past. The raid to arrest Glas has sparked a massive row with global reactions coming in. The US has condemned any violation of the Vienna Convention. Meanwhile, Latin American countries like Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Uruguay supporting Mexico's stance. Ecuador defends its action saying the decision to raid the Mexican embassy was taken because the National Court of Justice had issued an arrest warrant against Glas.

This illustrates how incompetent and corrupted Ecuador 🇪🇨 is at this moment because this President feels above international law; no matter how his government wants to justify this damage; it is awful violation of international laws
Oh wow, we are now "trembling" in Ecuador 🙂
You will
If the V.P. was about to be lawfully arrested by Equadors Authorities why would Mexico grant asylum?
If the answer is that the question has no relevance then I will tell You where to stick that color of law! Local, Geographical or International! Enough of that B.S. (Period)
I cant imagine how frustrated they feel being invaded like that, must feel like a violation
Ecuador president is American born in Miami Florida
The point of giving political asylum to a person is because that gov says that you are a criminal, obviously it will not say that you are politically persecuted.
Good point, which leads to wonder if you are aware of why the V.P. was going to be arrested? Specifics to the misuse of funds?
Appreciated!
If there were legitimate charges awaiting this V.P. It should not be so easy to escape justice!
Diplomatic immunity must stop at Criminal Impunity!
al contrario amigo, a Latinoamerica la anclan en el tercer mundo los politicos korruptoz como el que fue detenido, es imperativo arrestarlos, combatir el crimen organizado. Mexico estaba protegiendo un krimminal
Furious Mexico? What are you on about dude? They actually acted extremely peacefully. The furious is not Mexico... Fix your thumbnail
The world is descending into madness.
Not even in WW1 or WW2 were embassies stormed or violated.
Ecuador is today a rogue narco state.
OBRADOR is having private meetings with some Latin American presidents, I think there will be sanctions against Ecuador
This whole world is just messed up at this point 🤦♂️
Appears to be, as has been! Certainly more to this story that should be aired out fully!
At this point, I would support Equadors action reserving right to justice not being so easily skirted!
@@jamesreagan9063you can’t raid a country’s embassy that’s a big no no

Does this mean the people in Ecuador will not be able to cross through Nexico into America illegally now?
It means Mexico is cutting diplomatic ties with Ecuador.
That’s a good one 😆

Why specifically was the V.P. about to be arrested?

Ecuador have better armed forces than mexico . Mexico doesnt even have a airforce😂
Foreign embassies should not accommodate the criminals to avoid this kind of conflict. Embassy rules need reform...
Correct
Is that why Ecuador gave asylum to assange? 😂🤡
It was Ecuador who give 72 hours to Mexico embassy diplomat to leave Ecuador.
The USA is involved in this issue. Since the president of Ecuador is a USA citizen.
You may very well be correct though your statement standing alone means nothing!
After a grant of asylum that may well be in order
Diplomatic means maintaining good relationship with host country. Any hostile action by diplomat toward host country means they dont respect the host.
U couldn't have said it better
It is even more disgusting for Mexico of all places to act like they don't have to acknowledge international laws in regard to controlling their cartels and migrants. But for a corrupt politician...they change their story to somehow "look good" with no honor towards respecting sovereign nations
Plenty of that sort going around!
Your 10th like chiming in!
Why, I wonder, was Mexico granting asylum?
@@jamesreagan9063 BCS it's a mexican Tradition, grantin asylum to ANY political persecuted. As Ecuador, the now aggressor, did with Assange UK, and UK or USA, NEVER invaded Ecuador embassy..
This is not an "he was a criminal" thing. This is a war declaration. Is that TERRIBLE the act.
I hear Ecuador has oil, time for MX and USA to spread some needed democracy in Ecuador
And here we go once again. Innocent people dying for our governments stupidity. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON US ALL. JESUS IS KING.
well, kudos to the young and strong political will of the Ecuadorian Pres., which is lacking today. He takes the risk.
And justified in this current arena he may be! We should, all of us, know the Particulars and follow closely while demanding precedent expeditiously!
Mexico must put a stop to this, give a lesson in geopolitics, if it does not do so, this will become common in the world.
If israel can do it...this is gonna be a common line now
Violation of international law like invading an embassy is an act of war, Ecuador seems to have been inspired by Israel

Embassy should not be refuge to criminals
Well said! Finally a country decides to take of this stupid "rule" of allowing Criminal Organizations, like the Mexican Government, to let other Criminal seek refuge in their Embassies! Viva Ecuador! Thank you for showing us the way!
Let us hope that this fight brings new precedent to the International color of law! Up against serious dark money and power!

Julian Assange was considered a criminal. Why did Ecuador give refuge to a convicted criminal for 5 years?

Ecuador is cutting down on the violence occurring in their country, Mexico is a country filled with cartel members, so a Mexican embassy in Ecuador tends to raise suspicion.

Ecuador is no better, in fact they are a total delinquent state. Ecuador is in violation of international law by raising a foreign embassy
Good job Ecuador. Mexico got involved. Should have rejected him.
Almost starting a war for one criminal is a good job? The only job well done here was Mexico’s restraint to not blockade Ecuador’s pacific ports after being invaded.
