These don’t get “signed off” the site manager looks around and sees that the roofs, windows and doors are intact and there’s no obvious slant or potential for falling down and then signs that it’s done. My granddad recently retired from building homes for Persimmon and he said he hasn’t seen the site manager for 3 months. He loves these videos because he uses them to encourage his mates to not build shitty homes
I've had to install a lot of laminate in voctorian buildings, so I know it can be installed against extremely pissed walls. It takes time, and you have to feed it under the existing skirting board if you're not replacing it. The fact they've just given up and left it is pretty hilarious to me. Also a 100 year old wall being that pissed is understandable, a brand new one not so much.
5 houses built near me 2 years ago 2 still unsold due to how badly built they are the windows plinths are broken and you can see this from 20 metres away the insides are poor etc, this week the developer has gone into administration
The big housing and construction companies abuse apprentices, they take them on because they can pay them next to nothing and give them barely any training. Lack of proper site management and oversight is also a problem, especially on the larger sites, the relevant trades aren't brought in early enough so they rush to get them in at the end and don't check the quality of work. There is a lack of qualified tradespeople also so the quality is generally lacking. I have a highly energy-efficient new build but I never thought I would buy a new build, luckily it was a small developer who prioritised quality over quantity.
Its a sad fact thar goes back to Thatcher and the 80s, she stopped the old apprentice system and started a bunch of training schools that were supposed to cram or dilute the trade that took 4yrs to learn, become proficient and quick enough to earn a living on piss poor prices into a six month scheme where guys were lucky if they managed to get the basics down! They used to turn out on site with training school Dilutee tools and wonder why they were struggling, only a few guys who are good with their hands and have a bit about them actually stayed in the trade, they have modern apprenticeships now for 2yrs which is better than 6 months but half what we did. The problem is a lot of these guys are being trained by guys who did 6month schemes and know FA and so the skilled guys that I served 4yrs with will never come again! They and their knowledge will disappear like a lot of craft trades, you cant learn a craft trade from a book alone, you need to be shown and then 5yrs of practice and you got it nailed! they shouldn't even be putting the laminate "tightly to the skirting" it goes under the skirting.
It's not even laminate

Why is it, is it that we don’t correctly teach the skills required anymore? Or is that people just don’t give a fluff? Thoughts pls…

Its clearly about the quantity not the quality. For 100s of thousands...

Name and shame the contractors and house builder so future customers know what to look out for and more likely to call you to check 😂
I can fix everything, exept electric. 250 (+materials, fuel)per day. full set of tools+van. Kent.
All new houses are a rip off they cost around 30k to build and you pay 300k 😂😂😂
Not sure where you're buying your materials from.
Why is every single vanity a landfill? We should study the psychology behind this

The thing is it doesn't look like crap. It has a few very minor snags.

I mean in a new build, who puts the skirting board on before the flooring is laid???😂😂
It could be the laminate flooring is an optional extra and the skirting was fitted before the extras were agreed.
Everyone. Literally every developer lays the flooring last. Believe it or not it's the best way to do things
