​​@@mrtomas0990 I am Newport fan and it's not a derby. Before the Hollywood circus rocked up Wrexham a match between us and them wouldn't get anything close to this sort of crowd. We'd get bigger crowds for real derbies, like Hereford United than we would for a Wrexham match. Fans turned up in numbers because they're sick of Wrexham this Wrexham that and wanted to get behind them in the hope of victory, which at least we managed this time.

Suprised they managed 9 minutes of highlights, wrexham did not have a shot hardly on target or threaten the home goal and newport were poor considering they played against ten men for 70 mins. As a spectacle it was awful.

Didn't look like a red to me. He cleanly hit the ball, and was a good half step or more ahead of the attacker. The attacker never even made contact with the ball. Defender's momentum from the slide carried I'm into the attacker because the attacker didn't let off of his run even though he was clearly beat.

Ref ruined the match at the outset with a red card on what was a very iffy penalty. Way back in my teens when I was playing that wouldn't have even been a penalty. Anyone saying his studs were up needs to think about what happens if your studs are down, you destroy your knee if they catch in the turf (saw that happen to two teammates, one when I was 15 and another when I was 18). They just shouldn't be high off the turf.

They weren't top, and as a Newport fan I wish everyone would drop this Welsh Derby nonsense. Yes Wrexham are a fellow Welsh club and that does create a bit of a rivalry (and the media attention to Wrexham no doubt bolsters crowds wherever they are playing), but they're nowhere near us. It's not a derby. Before the Hollywood circus rocked up a Wrexham match would get a decent crowd, but Hereford or Bristol Rovers would always get more.

Anyway, stockport lost to newport earlier in the season too, and we were second before this, and still are second, in the grand scheme this loss doesn't mean too much, just gonna be a bit harder to get top spot as we've lost our game-in-hand advantage.

@@mickboswell3484 Not a red at all lmfao, there was a genuine attempt to win the ball, and they did indeed win the ball, the other player failing the challenge and running striaght into him, not to mention it was early in the game.
In almost every other case this would have been a yellow or more likely just a scolding by the ref.
In a game like rugby though, the fouled player would've been sent off with a red for that kind of diving

Ridiculous refereeing decision that ruined the game. He got the ball his feet were on the ground but as always football is becoming more noncontact like basketball. Perhaps a freekick harshest would be a yellow card but never never never a red card.
