Additional notes for hands of the video:
- In the simulation used, the river is never a donk shove for Stefan, but a range check
Re 79s vs 6To:
- flop play is approved, turn overbet is not a thing for Linus, solver only bets 50% pot
- Stefan would almost never raise turn and 79s is a close call. But raising is actually also slightly +ev
- Linus' 3bet is actually happening with many 6x
- Linus' river check is approved, Stefan would never use the tiny size, but only jam or check. 79s is 100% jam
-> Just for those that are interested. Not a judgement on good or bad play, as players might have reasons for deviations

Having thought about the 79s vs T6 hand, I actually like Stefan's turn raise:
He knows Linus shouldn't overbet here in theory and therefore the range is very polar, probably 6x or air / weak draws which he dominates (think hands like 78, 89, 74s, 43s). So he gets to punish this by raising for value vs these hands and checking back rivers (but also keeping the option to bluff river). Especially if Linus is imbalanced towards bluffs here (unlikely but possible since Linus is trying to exploit Stefan).
Linus 3b ott also makes sense because he's saying fuck you I actually do have tonnes of 6x, and now Stefan is getting a good enough price to peel.
Only thing I don't understand is river block bet from Stefan. What is he targeting? Surely he should jam to get fold equity or xb and win against the aforementioned missed draws he beats...
Any ideas about this river play?

@@consumer61 Yeah I like your explanation and agree both players basically rep extremely polarized ranges. Regarding the riverbet I can only imagine Stefan thinks Linus would have a few draws/air hands in there that beat 9 high and which he could fold out
@@2CardConfidence Yeah it's the only thing which makes sense, but it would have to be spades, like Txss/Jxss specifically, but I am not sure Linus would 3b turn with these. Seems to me the block just isn't great... But Stefan knows a lot more than me xD
I didn't fall for the "bad play". Population at NL10 would not have floated on the turn with KQo.

2:19 Interesting point about Stefan deviating from theory -- Magnus Carlsen does this as well in chess. He tends to deviate from the game tree in order to throw his opponents off.

What about the db ai river ? Is it Because Linus doesn't bluff Q-x that much while it's a big part of the SDV hands type Aq, Kq Steffen could have ? And that now Linus would X back a lot his underpairs ? What would Steff bluff here ? Turning As-x into a bluff like Ak-Aj, At, A2, A5 ? Also donking missed FD ?
Actually, the river donk is not happening in the solver. Because Linus would have too many bluffs which would barrel (and even a lot of low pairs would bet for thin value).
But yeah, if you wanted to implement a bluffing range on the river, choosing the hands you mentioned sounds reasonable

As a sticky player myself I don’t mind Stefan’s play until the donk jam. It’s just so hard to be balanced there while keeping a strong X raise range
I think a lot of those really high stakes players arent that better than a good nl1k player, i think they just had more time to get a bankroll and probably some luck involved as well, to move up from nl1k is really hard, there arent many tables above that, and even if you are really good, to get to nl100k, it would take at least 3 or 4 years with a good winrate .
yeah that for sure is very very wrong lot of players play with stakers anyways and their winrate determines the stakes the get to play and naturally over time the best will gather in the highest of stakes

GTO solvers are the new dogma of poker
Solvers and GTO in general are useful to study the theory, but they’re mostly useful when playing against other mathematically sound opponents.
If you tried to use the “best GTO plays” against average opponents in 90% of lower stakes games, without adjusting to how they play, you’re profitability will go out the window.
Stefan is always losing these hands

Agree with Michael. Also the river jam isn't solver approved and neither are the lines from the first hand, so not a convincing argument for RTA use

Solvers are bullshit anyways. Poker became boring because of solvers. I never used solvers and still 100% or more on every Site i play. Intuition is the key.
