Man, I've had two 6.0's. First one was a 06 cred cab long bed 4x4. 11 inch lift on 37's . nothing but a money pit! Head studs , bullet proof remote mount oil cooler, Turbo, injectors, fuel system and tuned...ect. . Fun? Yes.. reliable..HELL NO!! That sucker ate oil coolers for some reason. Every 10k miles I had to put a new oil cooler on. Then the heads cracked. It never over heated. So then new O-ringe heads. It still would build pressure in the degas bottle.. up to 20 psi under boost. So Had new gaskets done again! Sold the truck. Then I had a 07 reg cab 4x4 6 speed.. best truck I ever owned! Why? I Left it stock!
@@iamn360 you think so?? Lmao everyone was OEM Ford parts with a Bullet proof remote mount system. It's a junk motor that there is no fix to. I've had 2 of them as well as my brother has had two of them
I have the intermittent leak also. I found that my cap was bad. Holding pressure sometimes and other times not. So i think the leak is when it is over pressurized and not venting at the cap. Unfortunately, It looks like a head gasket leak causing the pressure in the first place.....
It's been awhile since I put the dual shocks on cost wise back then they were about $100 per shock for the icons not sure how much they are now and the brakes was maybe $75. As far as the ride it's very stiff and rough but could be the stiff leaf springs up front as well.
@@chriswools638 heck yeah man sounds awesome hold on to that X they hold their value. I'm gonna be doing some more work to my 05 X upgrading the rear bumper with a tire carrier and some interior upgrades. Hopefully I'll have enough time to post some videos on it.
ASTEW'S GARAGE thanks was just wondering, I have the same leak. But also looks like my front cover gasket is leaking too. Just hope not a head gasket. Have you ever hooked up a pressure gauge from reservoir overflow line and seen what pressure you run? I can’t find a video of one with a good head gasket to compare it too.
What kind of test kit is that? I’m having the same issue, had my truck running in the driveway while my son and I waited for the bus. Once the bus picked him up I backed down the driveway and shut it off. Came out to get him ofc the bus and I had a puddle of coolant on the ground where I parked
It's the powerbuilt kit number 70 I just rented it from my local advance auto parts shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/powerbuilt-tools-kit-70-cooling-system-pressure-kit-22-piece-940427/9150049-p?product_channel=local&store=5243&adtype=pla&product_channel=local&store_code=5243&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtf_tBRDtARIsAIbAKe2eFyP3Bc7goULx6WJixgcz2vjtnDnZEAsAYL4y8M847apKPKkHEpIaAqorEALw_wcB
And non OEM degas caps cannot be trusted, they can leak when brand new and not hold pressure when new. Your cap is OEM motorcraft BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE A STICKER WITH THE PSI INFO ON IT..IT IS EMBOSSED WITH THE INFO..THIS IS GOOD
Yeah it did end up being the o ring. Since then I have been leaking coolant from the degas bottle cap under heavy load. So unfortunately I think the head gasket is on its way out.
ASTEW'S GARAGE I’ve got an 05, after my engine was bulletproofed I had a leak as you’re describing. It wound up being my thermostat housing o-ring as well. I’ve had a lot of work done to mine, still gotta ways to go.😂 Never ending with these 6.0’s! But for the price of a new PS, I can rebuild mine again twice over.🤣
@@remembertheblacksabbath yeah I hear you. I have put a ton of money and man hours into mine and will probably never get rid of it. I have six kids and this is the only vehicle out there that that can haul the whole family and cargo while still being able to tow 5.5 tons behind it.

You went through so many oil coolers cause you cheaped out.

Sounds like a cold water leak. Did you find it?
I think (THINK)with a head gasket leak the radiator fluid leaks into the engine and comes out the exhaust pipe as white smoke (
Honestly most HG leaks on the 6.0 dont leak in oil or out of the tail pipe
I see you’ve got a set of double shocks. How much did that entire setup cost you and do you like the ride now?

Was it just the thermostat that was the leak? Is your problem fixed
Yeah it ended up being the thermostat o ring. Problem solved I was in a pinch at the time so I couldn't record the replacement of it.
