Black people and Mexicans have a long history. I’m a black man from Cali so I have lived it. On the other hand we all have that black or Mexican friend we grew up with. We know each other’s families and usually someone wants to date someone’s sister or cousin lol… point is we have been a close community and we have always faced similar struggles in this country. The fact is if black, Asian and Latinos come together, we would be unstoppable and the white man, establishment or whatever you want to call it would have to start making changes that benefit all of our communities as a whole.

As a Texan, the tension between blacks and latinos in South California is so foreign to me. And the fact that the majority of the tension is rooted in prison gang politics is wild. Blacks and Hispanics in Texas can live around each other just fine. Moving to LA as a Native Hawaiian the racial climate in general is deafening. I never dealt with (personally) this type of racial climate. It was more so cultural. Being Brown myself being profiled as Hispanic and seeing the racial history with Browns n Blacks made me worry. Imagine being secluded on an island walking into something you know nothing about but somehow get involved because of your skin-tone and physical characteristics ... its rough as hell. In situations like these the term Brown really needs to be specified to the specific brown culture that has history with blacks (imo). It's sad on both ends because I understand where both cultures are coming from. But in reality this affects more than just two of your cultures, it affects Non-Hispanic Brown cultures too. Although this has nothing to do with me personally and it has to do with the healing of relationships between these two cultures I pray for a good outcome.

I appreciate everyone's response and comments. Like I said being secluded on an island for majority of my life to coming to the continental U.S, California has really been the only state side experience I have with this issue. It makes me happy to say at least in other areas this type of racism towards each other isn't true. I'm a huge believer in not speaking on things that I don't know because there's always more to the story/history. My issue really is with the generalization of how Mexicans/Chicanos (in this instance) are throwing around the term Brown. By using a generalized term it can be interpreted that ALL BROWN people share the same feelings/hostility towards Blacks. This is definitely not the case. Even the term Hispanic can be generalized too as there are many different Hispanics (i.e: Puerto Ricans, Cubans, etc.) This is why I say to use the proper brown ethnicitiy. In order to heal the correct people need to be addressed. When I get "racially profiled" as an ethnicity i am not and then face backlash on the people I'm being racially profiled as is scary as hell and somewhat sad. I don't want ANYONE to feel I will be prejudice against them because I share the same skin-tone as another ethnicity who has a background with another culture. I get along with pretty much anyone that isn't an asshole. Again, I'm only commenting on my sole personal experience I have faced. Regarding the history of this issue I am still clueless, hence why I am not addressing either side entirely but acknowledging BOTH sides standpoint on where they are coming from. I really do appreciate the insight everyone is writing. Your personal experiences are valid. In all fairness we all have bad eggs in our respective cultures that can put a negative image on all of us. On some real solid ass shit this is where RESPECT comes a long ass way. With my original comment my stance still ultimately stands with finding healing & a positive outcome for these cultures who are affected (regarding this video). It's about NUMBERS. The reality is that if minorities, especially Hispanic and Black, want to have more power, control, and say so in America, they have to come together. White ppl are too deep and once we isolate ourselves our impact is even smaller. That's the truth. Look up the U.S population by race(even though I don't fully believe the data cuz a lot hispanics get categorized as white) white ppl are VERY deep that's why they have the most control. Together we have a bigger impact and can actually change things but that's what they're afraid...and that's why they divide and conquer.
I have never seen adam defend any of his hosts/employees like a good boss should. Just always defends himself. Ya know, take the heat and confront them later to handle it. I think the reason why AD can be level headed is because he is actually from Southern California. He knows what it’s like here. Adam and flako are tourists that are taking advantage out the Southern California culture.

Now the numbers of Hispanics claiming white went down in the 2020 census, but it was still a good amount. The difference was made up in some Hispanics claiming Other. Even going back to 1930 census, within a year of it's founding. LULAC which was founded in 1929. They fought against the Mexican designation. It was the actual stance for many Hispanics (mainly Mexican due to the time period), leaders to identify and push for white for around the first 65-70yrs of the 20th century. This is not some random or abnormal occurrence, that I'm speaking on.

And then I started going to juvie and then prison and never knew any black people outside of prison. I honestly thought all black people were either drug dealers, drug users, or gangbangers. Moving to LA as a Native Hawaiian the racial climate in general is deafening. I never dealt with (personally) this type of racial climate. It was more so cultural. Being Brown myself being profiled as Hispanic and seeing the racial history with Browns n Blacks made me worry. Imagine being secluded on an island walking into something you know nothing about but somehow get involved because of your skin-tone and physical characteristics ... its rough as hell. In situations like these the term Brown really needs to be specified to the specific brown culture that has history with blacks (imo). It's sad on both ends because I understand where both cultures are coming from. But in reality this affects more than just two of your cultures, it affects Non-Hispanic Brown cultures too. Although this has nothing to do with me personally and it has to do with the healing of relationships between these two cultures I pray for a good outcome.

I appreciate everyone's response and comments. Like I said being secluded on an island for majority of my life to coming to the continental U.S, California has really been the only state side experience I have with this issue. It makes me happy to say at least in other areas this type of racism towards each other isn't true. I'm a huge believer in not speaking on things that I don't know because there's always more to the story/history. My issue really is with the generalization of how Mexicans/Chicanos (in this instance) are throwing around the term Brown. By using a generalized term it can be interpreted that ALL BROWN people share the same feelings/hostility towards Blacks. This is definitely not the case. Even the term Hispanic can be generalized too as there are many different Hispanics (i.e: Puerto Ricans, Cubans, etc.) This is why I say to use the proper brown ethnicitiy. In order to heal the correct people need to be addressed.
When I get "racially profiled" as an ethnicity i am not and then face backlash on the people I'm being racially profiled as is scary as hell and somewhat sad. I don't want ANYONE to feel I will be prejudice against them because I share the same skin-tone as another ethnicity who has a background with another culture. I get along with pretty much anyone that isn't an asshole. Again, I'm only commenting on my sole personal experience I have faced. Regarding the history of this issue I am still clueless, hence why I am not addressing either side entirely but acknowledging BOTH sides standpoint on where they are coming from.
I really do appreciate the insight everyone is writing. Your personal experiences are valid. In all fairness we all have bad eggs in our respective cultures that can put a negative image on all of us. On some real solid ass shit this is where RESPECT comes a long ass way. With my original comment my stance still ultimately stands with finding healing & a positive outcome for these cultures who are affected (regarding this video).

There are articles on the 2010 census specifically talking about this very issue. Now the numbers of Hispanics claiming white went down in the 2020 census, but it was still a good amount. The difference was made up in some Hispanics claiming Other.
Even going back to 1930 census, within a year of it's founding. LULAC which was founded in 1929. They fought against the Mexican designation.
It was the actual stance for many Hispanics (mainly Mexican due to the time period), leaders to identify and push for white for around the first 65-70yrs of the 20th century.
This is not some random or abnormal occurrence, that I'm speaking on.
