Hey, I can relate. Not a cat person. SOOO not a cat person. Had one walk on my face once and another bite me. So if somebody wants to eat a cat so that I won't have to deal with it, well that's just fine by me! Dr. Laura used to have a great comeback. Cats should be outdoors where they can be a food source for the coyotes, but instead the cats live in apartments where the coyotes can't get to them.
My ex had a sheriff serve me divorce/custody papers while playing piano for the residents at the nursing home where i entertained them every week. Class act

Was she dodging being served? Sometimes when they have tried and tried, and it’s obvious the person knows what’s coming and doesn’t want to be served, the servers have to be creative?
Exactly. Think about how hard it would be to get her autograph, and then consider the person serving the papers would have all of the same difficulties. Gated life, security guards, members only, no access areas, etc.

@@Tijuanabill I thought about that too. If I was a process server, I'd serve them in the restroom, and I'd wait for them to have to do a #2 so that they can't chase me with their drawers, smartphone, and belt buckle banging about on the floor as they run. Hehe!

There is so much drama in being served, having the locks changed while you’re at work or just coming home to an empty house no note no forwarding address & divorce mills.
My father served my mother with divorce papers, on my birthday, at his workplace, where Mom and I had gone to pick up his truck, so we could pick up my birthday present (a new bed).

Weird system. Here in Germany we just send it via registered mail. That way you get a receipt which shows that it's been delivered. Doesn't even need to be signed like a parcel. If they throw it in your mail box, you've been served. No detective work and personal contact required. What's the point of all that drama as if people were dodging their mail? It's their problem, if they ignore important mail they are required to react to.
We are based on the British law system. Plus, America is a bigger country with a lot of different jurisdictions.
@@SSN515 They could still drop it off via the mail system without interrupting peoples lives and they also seem to do to embarrass the other party. It almost seems like it's part of the show.
The problem is the mail system isn't perfect and you could claim to have never received it and nobody would know if it was the truth. Also, other people living with you could dispose if it. My brother in law just experienced this with his soon to be ex. Paperwork from friend of the court came to them in separate envelopes but he never got his. The only reason he knew it had been sent is because he found her's hidden and already filled out, called his lawyer and was told his was sent as well. Did she discard his envelope? Can't say for sure but he's going for 50/50 custody and she wants more, so it wouldn't surprise me.
@@SSN515 under UK law, legal documents are considered served something like 48 hours after they were posted to your registered address. And you are
legally obliged to update your address or change your address as soon as you move. If you don't, there's no excuses accepted.

I got served at home while my wife was in the kitchen. A horrible day. 10 years later I have a wonderful girlfriend and my ex is lonely and regrets her choice. I will never understand women at age 40-45 wanting to be “happy” And thinking something out there will do it.

She fully expected me to capitulate and let her do whatever she wanted.
Went to the courthouse and filed myself the next day. I had a friend of mine serve her at our house that night--so I'd have a witness.
A year later she was married to her ex-boyfriend.

It's an antiquated but necessary process. Imagine the government saying "you were served" and you're like "no I wasn't" and they're like "yes you were, we did it over in this here file." Then the cop starts clubbing you. Wonder if HS is going to start that?

And who's to say they would have had access to back stage to do it before or after. They knew where she would be and they knew she couldn't avoid them. It's actually pretty smart.

From a tech perspective, there are several problems with any technical services. First is confidentiality. The content of the papers is not always meant for public consumption, especially at that time. Email and other forms of electronic communication do NOT protect the information that is being sent. Second is integrity. Prove that what is being received has not been altered in any way. Again, most forms of general pubic communication do meet this standard. Third is verification. Prove that the sender of the information is who they say they are. How many spam emails, spam texts, etc., do people receive? Fourth is proof of receipt. A read-receipt on an email will not hold up in court with a competent lawyer who is the least bit tech savvy (or has a tech expert). Prove that it was opened by the person and prove it was the person in question. You cannot.

My guess is they asked about the laws, but not their history lol which is fine with me.
Besides, if he knew his history he'd know that Benjamin Franklin and his wire were never married but were considered common law married as she had been previously married and her husband took off on her never to be seen again. And that was definitely pre-1800s.

Role models? My eldest cousin was married and divorced six times. My brother was about as bad: six marriages and only(sic) five divorces. The change from the prior generations was colossal and said much of our generation's behavior.
Usually people getting served papers for child custody often suspect they will be coming. Not always, but most of the time. Unfortunately.

If they had tried to serve her before and her people were keeping them at a distance then this might have been the only way they could serve her without her people keeping them away. My concern would be that someone was able to get on the stage, did someone slip security $100 and they let them slip by?

Celebrities are insulated, need to be creative to get to them. I came up under a boat at Catalina, climbing up on the swim step, my buddy on the cliff with a Nikon took the picturs as I dropped the papers in his lap ( zip lock) then dropped over the side and down. $500 for some fun.
