mini amps are so much fun - you did a great job on those Brad ! they sound fantastic but i am not so hot on tube break up . its ok but ... i like variety . my acid box amp is solid state but it has mod'ed echo - long delay , and tremolo .i also have a metal chassis mini amp with distortion , and univibe and a flanger . the other one is a solid stage with chorus and delay that has a nice clean sound . after playing around with cigar box amps i started building class d based amps . right now i am working on a jfet marshal preamp to put in a classs d tpa3116d2 mono 100 watt mono chip board . i enjoy amp building even though most folks would laff at them as they arent tube , but i also have my fair share of tube conversions and builds . i just dont use those as much . i make music outdoors often using lithium ion battery packs and sla type battery's . the final solution for us is a powered mixer with built in mp3 for drum loops , using a 2x10 sub and a pair of 8 inch pa speakers with compression driver tweeters .we employ digital amp cab sim. i am adding a all analog dry channel this summer but thats mainly so i can say STFU if anyone comments about digital and i am sure i will use it a few times and ditch it . guitar players on line are a bit obsessed about the tube thing . its just not always feasible , AND if you have decent gear and make your own patches well you find yourself not missing the incredibly ridiculous amounts of wasted power and heat that is generated in a tube circuit . it sure would be nice to just say what i use and not have to make such a huge deal out if it NOT being tube based . the minute i do NOT type all this extra bullshit i get some ignorant comment from someone who has NOTHING to show for their big talk .
Perfect . Never seen this one . I only subbed to you in 2018 I think . I have already made one , but have a few more cigar boxes left so I would like to make another . The boxes are so tight and well made . They sound great I think .
I just love the amps making the camera vibrate and shake. True rockin' amps that give me ideas. I've got some old PA speakers and some old crates lying around. I wonder...
I love your cigar box amps and guitar! I learn a lot from your videos. I always enjoy them. But one thing that sets you apart from other amp tech people is that you have some solid chops as a player too! I would love to jam with you sometime!
@@TheGuitologist I see them as great for a beginner. I could see a kid in a dorm room playing a Squire through one of these. It would beat the hell out of an LM386 amp in an Altoids tin, especially if you added an external speaker jack, which allow them to use a decent speaker with the thing so it would at least have some bass response. Adding Bluetooth would also allow them to play Spotify through a cell phone as well.
Very cool reuse of parts... Really liked the song or noodling at the end, The guitar though you have shown before is just awesome..... and the 2nd tube amp sounded fuller (i guess because deeper) then the 1st. All are really neat though...
@@TheGuitologist Which tells me that they'd all sound a lot better if you attached them to a decent cab. Maybe you could try that on all of them, just so folks can hear what they sound like with a decent speaker and enclosure?
in order of sounds best on video is ,best is #2, then #3, and lastly #1, to my ears anyway. it would be great to see a step by step build of one of those. cheers!
+August Lyons Thanks, August. I'd already done a few widowmaker service vids. I figured it might be a bit redundant to go through the whole thing. If you're thinking of doing one, start with an old 45RPM record player, maybe. Look for one that's not working and get it cheap. Hit your antique malls.
Hi, I absolutely love your work. Well done. That last tiny guy blew my mind. Perfect sound. Could you please share schematic diagram of the amp and the type speaker you are using? I'd love to build this myself.
"finger jointed" or Dovetailed to us in civilised countries .lol.....I like the amps, i'm not into the usual 4 string cigar-box "guitars" they make. I love the Cox's cigar box amp effect on the screen
Hi Brad what does the first amp sound like with it opened up? Also what would an amp like these sound like with a mic plugged in and singing. Just wondering.
all I can find on Synsonics are "travel guitars with built-in amplifiers", but I'm guessing this is simply a single-in-line TDA mono power amp with a built-in preamp, and that the volume and tone are between the pre and power. Distortion is achieved by driving the power harder. Example: www.newtoncbraga.com.br/images/stories/artigos8/art0388_02.jpg In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the exact chip in your amp. Can't be 100% sure withouth a pic from the top of the PCB.
I want to play cigar box guitar, but I can't find any information on whether I need an acoustic amp or an electric one. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, im just not finding anything on google
I like how the pooch(dog) photo-bombed the video! He didn't seem to flinch!......Cool amp's too!
These sound way better than they have any right to. I actually prefer this to demos of some much more expensive amps I've seen.

Every now and again UA-cam surprises you with a 5 year old video suggestion.
You were told to play softly too , you made it happen , all fantastic !

COOL AMPS BRAD, GREAT KITCHEN JAM RIGS! GREAT VID.
Thanks Dave. Kitchen and couch amps. That's the idea on these. Thanks for the comment!

The House Blend Amp sounds really Sweet...!!!!
They sound amazing and look great!
Thanks, Marc. They are more novelty than anything. Not overly loud, but good fun to make!

I liked the way the camera rocked to your playing,Like there was a half stack in the background.Hahaha,👍🎸😎✌
Nice playing bud! Cool gear demo too. Sub'd
Thanks. Welcome aboard the crazy train!
Got yourself a new sub. Nice videos.
Welcome aboard!
Very cool thinking of making a miniature stack myself.
that black one is way awesome!

+Bucyrus Erie12 I agree with that assessment. The second one has a bigger cigar box, so that might be part of it.

What batteries, and how long do they last?

thanx and...

Hi Brad what does the first amp sound like with it opened up? Also what would an amp like these sound like with a mic plugged in and singing. Just wondering.
Im in the process of making a cbg out of a battery powered amp, it will be all one unit, ( a blackstar practice amp.)
Brad, just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if you sell those amps and if there is actually a market for the things?
7:26 "Hi there"
I'm curious about that last one. What amp did you get the guts from? It doesn't say in the panel.
+blackcorvo Good question. Not sure. The original 'cabinet' was a plastic jobbie that was probably sold through Fingerhut or something.
+The Guitologist if you can get a few pics or video closeups of the pcb at some point, that would be great
It was a Synsonics MG-53

Shouldn't you add a isolation transformer?
Stolen? Is this a confession? 😄
Nice little amps!

if your cigar box guitar got an output connected to either a piezo or a mag pick up, you could use any amp you want or got available.
do you sell these?
Pliss skema power ampli sher !! In buy link ,,??
Nice amps, but I am worried about your health....
