It was amazing to be there and share the experience! My words are just not enough, but the video was there. I'm so happy to be a part of this sport! Thank you for your friendship!
Man I just miss it so much! It was great to meet with you and glad I had a chance to capture the moment! Can not wait to shoot with you again! Greetings to you and Sarah as well! Next time we should ride a BMX and shoot some cans LOL :)
Wow it looks like fun. I never knew Slingshot is so popular around the world. As a kid I used to hunt small games with Slingshot. This is a total new experience. World Cup?? This is more like people coming together to have fun. My love for Slingshot is rekindled. Thanks for upload
Hello Benny D, Thanks to internet and improvement of elastics the sport is constantly gaining popularity over a decade. Many of us enjoying this renaissance. If you are interested about the community, please check slingshotforum.com or slingshotcommunity.com. If you look around at Facebook you will be surprised how many groups we have. US and UK shooters are fairly active, but you will find many around the world. If you are looking for slingshot gear I can suggest to take a look at the simple-shot.com website. Have fun!
Wow what a awesome video thanks for taking the time to put it together! Out of all those high end frames and high tech aiming aids the world champion used one of the most basic shape frames at the event with no sighting methods or other add ons....... Looked like u all had a fantastic time and some excellent shooting 👍
Thank you very much John for taking time and stopping by to make a comment here. You've been missed, and I hope next time with different circumstance you can join. Can't wait to meet in person. Indeed the top Chinese shooters were using "plain" frames, but a large number of shooters (dozens of Spanish and Italian competitors, also Brazil) were using Spanish Style aiming systems with a convincing accuracy. I was happy to see that ALL SCHOOL was represented and many things are proven working. It just helps to grow the sport just as your superb instructional videos. Cheers mate!
Thanks for an awesome video! Many well known faces among the contestants. Sheer joy to see how slingshooting is doing well and growing on an international scale. Wish I could have joined in, but at least I have the Swedish National Tournament to look forward to this month. Thanks for sharing this inspiring and well made video! 👍
Thank you very much Harry! I hope I will be able to do more myself in the future and also to inspire other competitors to edit their recordings. It was plenty of work indeed. Thanks for taking the time to show support! Cheers, Mark
Oh yes, it was a humbling experience for me. So many amazing shooters and such intensity of excitement made it a memorable event. If you have the chance to attend, participate or just visit a slingshot shooting event such as this don't miss the opportunity. Great folks!
geraszimov78 Szia Gergő! Nagyon köszönöm. Igyekeztem élvezetes videót vágni. Nagyon nagy élmény volt. Legközelebb többen kell menjünk itthonról. Jó, hogy írtál, nagyra értékelem 😃!
So 2 of the top 3 individual guys that year were Chinese and they seem to use smaller regular type frames held sideways but the Spanish and Italian team both placed in top 3 and they all seem to use those large contraptions held upright.
Hi Ike, Yes, but if you want a better picture you have to look for a broader comparison. Italian team used Lumbro Davids in a horizontal hold with mouth anchor. Small ammo (about 8mm) and adjustable sight, hammergrip. That frame is heavyfor the added stability. Spanish shooters used the classic tirachinas. Small ammo, straight up hold with adjustable sights. These two groups are using light draws and durable bands. The ammo is traveling with medium speed. Chinese shooters were using 0,4-0,5 bands tapered small ammo and narrow forks. Narrow forks means you have to create an anchor that is very close to the eye. This is why the Chinese shooters are "laying" on the bands. The advantage is the high speed this is why you don't need to worry about sights when using a feihu type fork. It is acting more like a pointing device, but you have to form your stance and body to fit to the instrument. Here is a summary if you are looking for accuracy. Use a small ammo (8mm or smaller) and make sure you have a tuned fast band (max stretch, short life, you may need to change it frequently) OR have a common band with adjustable sights. Almost everything else comes down to personal preference. Just trust your equipment, that is all.
Mark Seljan thanks for the detailed explanation! Based on the video it would appear that slingshots are popular in Italy but I was surprised at the relative lack of UA-cam content about them coming out of Italy.
@@ikejimenez3836 I think it is because most of their videos are in Italian. If you search for Fionda, Fionde, Lumbro, Marco Brunetti, Tiro di fionda more hits will come up.
Mark Seljan yeah I speak Italian so I was especially interested in Italian slingshot stuff. I searched those terms and there was some stuff but it was just a few videos by the guy who makes the Lumbro (which I watched) and the some old vids of kids in their gardens. I just meant the relative lack of content (versus all the great stuff from the states and UK) was disappointing.
@@ikejimenez3836 Oh, I see! In this case I suggest to contact with Marco Brunetti. I am sure he may introduce you to the Italian Slingshot scene as it is now.

The rules you may looking for are in English lower on this long webpage. slingshot-world-cup.webnode.it/about-us/ some may change over time. Thanks a lot! :) Was there a world cup in 2019 or 2020 too? I only find reports from this one in 2018 but nothing for 2019 except a "2019 warm up" video by Fowler. If not, it's a real shame because this one seems really profesionally organized. Is there a global slingshot organisation like there is for e.g. archery?
@@no-trick-pony You are looking for the WSA wsaslingshot.com/ 2019 was held in Shanghai, China. They made a few hours long footage that was pretty mixed. @@markseljan Wow, thank you so much for the information! I searched endlessly for "slingshot world cup" etc. but I never found that website. Sounds good mate :) You just have to keep up with precision and hit almost every time. When you start counting misses instead of hits then you can be sure you have a fat chance to win :)
Hi Lucky Luke, No there was no specific category for power, but was no restriction on draw weight or draw length for example. Most of the competitors were interested in accuracy over power. On the other hand many shooters like flat trajectory, so small ammo like 9,5mm and 8mm even 7 was used with behind-ear DL and quite decent draw weight.
I think it's like when people ask what it's like to ride a Harley. We usually say, if you have to ask the question, you probably won't understand the answer! I design, build and shoot for a relaxing hobby, and can be a great defense once you're proficient. I ride Harley's because it's a part of me.
Hi Michkanm, Yes, using safety glasses is a common legal advice to protect beginners and production companies. It is always better to be safe. On the other side if an experienced shooter makes a decision to shoot without a safety glass he/she may does it for a reason and in understanding of taking a risk. But it's the shooters choice. Since everybody was checking his/hers own equipment the responsibility goes for the shooter. There was plenty of time to repair equipment before/after shooting sessions. Last but not least there were shooters with safety glasses even if minority. There was also a team of ambulance officers at the shooting range ALL THE TIME. Where performance is the most important competitors may take a risk to get an advantage even if it is against the cultural/social barriers.
They're shooting a weapon in competition, inside a building. With lots of people. Why can't this be sport in schools. There's more violence and danger in football or hockey.
Thank you for stopping by. We work a lot to let people know this sport exists and our community is responsible.
