The Pooka is similar to the Scottish Kelpie in that it will try to drag you under water to drown you, but with the Scottish Kelpie, it will lower itself to let you climb on its back first and then take you into a loch to drown. I have read that it will eat your heart as well.
My poor Irish father often adorned my face and back with black and yellow rose buds. None of my kin would politely request any of those. My beloved father now dwells in a much warmer Irish dreamland. And may the sidewalks rise to meet the faces of those who hinder my communications. Lol
You're right; Samhain is sort of a root of Halloween. It's probably more associated with it than it really should be, but it has some cool history- definitely builds on the Pooka legends.

I know this is old but I still think you might appreciate this I totally Envision that golf cart you were on has puka eyes and laughing my maniacally and who's this poker can't shape shift into golf carts or cars and this is totally got a lot darker than I intended. but if they can change into cars okay the love bug that is definitely a pooka.
