I am so glad you always take into consideration the fact that Lego is a toy company and they are allowed to make models that aren’t for collectors. I am tired of people saying that ‘Lego is ROBBING us of our phase 2 Captain Rex or whatever else, and that we as fans DESERVE it’ which is not the case, Lego is a toy company and these loud minority are not Lego’s main customers and are certainly not ‘owed’ anything by Lego.
After getting into Lego earlier this year I decided pretty quickly to avoid these fanatics that just complain about everything the company does. Those people forgot that Lego is a toy company & doesn't need to only cater to your hardcore collector lifestyle with every release.
Jang. I started watching your channel in 2014. I continued to watch your videos up until my dark ages in 2019 Im 19 now and I just wanted to say thank you for the content you make. Your videos were a big part of my childhood. I always looked forward to getting home from school to watch your videos, and I watched them all. I mean ALL of them. After watching this video I was hit with a huge wave of nostalgia. Above all else I enjoyed watching your custom build videos, mainly the ones about your city. I remember your old city you had before you moved houses. Thank you Jang for making my childhood.
I am in the same boat as you, but currently in my dark ages. I try to watch jangs video whenever I can, and still collect Lego for myself and play with my siblings. Thank you jang for being such an amazing part of my childhood as well, I could spend hours watching you which would inspire me to create my own city layout. Glad to see you are still touching so many lives and inspiring so many people. 😃
I started watching JANG around the same time as you in 2014 and now I’m 20 years old. The fact that JANG’s videos have not changed much in style, format, or content since back then show that his work stands the test of time and is of the highest quality. Keep it up JANG!
I can see this being loads of fun for kids to pit against their rebels. Reminds me of something that might be in The Force Unleashed or Jedi Fallen Order series
I have all the previous Marvel mechs and I was worried about how drastically these designs changed from those… but oh my goodness these new ones are so much better. They feel so much sturdier and bulkier. Even the elbow/knee piece is growing on me. Thanks for the look at this one Jang, and for always being a calm voice of reason in the community!
Like the Boba mech, I can see this exiting as well, despite not being canon. There's already lots of variation of Storm Trooper types, and Storm Troopers have been known to have heavy mechanical armor before!
I like the prebuilt bigger pieces for the mechs. When my kids play, they are constantly breaking the torso in half, so this looks to make the build stronger for play.
As an adult who is also a big SW canon nerd... this rocks tbh. It looks cool, and while the pre-formed parts mean they're a lil samey, they provide a solid platform for kids to customise and use for their own mechs. Also nice to see we're still getting small sets like this (although I yearn for the days sets like this were only £8.99). At the end of the day they're no different from like, Microfighters, and if kids are digging mechs right now, this seems like a solid choice
Even if someone doesn't like the mech idea, the set is still an easy and cheaper way to get a load of Stormtroopers, so this set still has appeal to both demographics, same with the Vader and Fett ones.
I bought both the Stormtrooper mech and Boba Fett mech because of the minifigures. Obviously the Boba figure is outstanding, the stormtrooper whilst not as good is still nice to have. I thought I would not like the mechs and I still don’t really but I have to say I did enjoy building them and for a mech I actually thought they looked pretty good. Not one to display for particularly long but I think the Boba Fett minifigure especially is worth it 👍🏻 Thank you Jang for another great review love from Great Britain 🇬🇧
As a Star Wars canon fanatic myself, I was a little unsure of these at first but I now think that these are a great interactive toy and this one look very good. 10/10 imo
Fellas be mad that this isn't Canon but if there was one tiny pencil drawing of this in one comic from 1995 they all would love it cause Lego would be doing a "deep cut reference"
I find it strange the picked Darth Vader, Boba Fett and a Storm Trooper for the first wave of these. I’d say a phase 3 Dark Trooper (as featured in the Mandalorian) would’ve been more appropriate given that canonically that’s what Dark Troopers are- mechanised storm troopers. At least in one phase of their development.
I think it actually makes very much sense that they chose those 3 as they are the most iconic Star Wars imagery if you ask me that could be turned into mechs and sold to kids. These are aimed towards kids first, not super fans of the franchise and I feel like dark troopers wouldn’t connect to kids as well as say a stormtrooper, Darth Vader, or boba fett
You cannot understand how happy it makes me that this is so affordable for kids. For my entire childhood I wanted a Lego stormtrooper but they were never in sets I or my family could afford. I am over the moon kids today who want stormtroopers have easy access to them. Dream come true so glad this exists.
Of the three, this is the best looking. I like the chunky arms and legs. Conceptually, it's not my thing but for kids this is perfect. Hasbro (Kenner) made their own designs back in the eighties for SW as well in the form of small action vehicles for the figures.
These mechs remind me of the starwars transformers from many years ago. Still hoping Hasbro would bring that line back and I hope Lego continues the starwars mech line. It's a fun line and a good way to get some cool figures pretty cheap
That new back piece is theoretically specialized, but I automatically thought of so many vehicular builds that would benefit from it. Looking forward to picking this up myself, despite it lacking the mech torso piece that the front panel was built to go with.
I absolutely love your positivity on this one! Every hardcore Star wars fan who only happened to buy Lego are complaining way too much about these mechs. I'm most excited for you to look at the boba Fett one
Super Easy, not an inconvenience whatsoever. If that was a Ryan George nod then I love it, if it was a coincidence then I love it as well. As someone who's been playing Skywalker Saga a lot lately I can see this existing in that universe and love that I can get it
Tip: you can put a stud or two on the minifig head, this should allow clearance for the helmet to rotate. Not ideal, but good enough for posing. I really like this stormtrooper mech, it really feels like something the Empire would (should) pull off
My 4 and 6 year old love these mechs as do a lot of their friends, which explains why they’re a go-to for Lego. AFOLs need to understand that everything is about them.
i love when i saw at a toy / kit and my mind is already thinking of ways to modify / add things to it, and this thing gave me that feeling in spades! (it's "oh he needs a beefy backpack" for this one) gonna buy at least a pair for tinkering haha.
Hey, it's an Imperial Dreadknight! :D It's a neat little set, even if I don't think it would be the sort of thing I'd want as a kid. I'm impressed by the poses it can take, even without elbow or knee articulation.
For some reason, I think mechs look better with melee weapons instead of firearms. Give him that First Order baton from Force Awakens and you are ready to rock n roll.
It’s the gigachad trooper! For as simple as this sets color scheme and minifigure are I still think it’s my favorite of the mechs and the one I’d consider getting out of the three. It looks like it’d be a lot of fun to customize too
I hope we get a few of these Star Wars mechs in the future but for the good guys. I really like small mechs so I am happy that these exist and I hope to pick them up soon
I saw this at the store last night for the first time and had to buy it. Its just so goofy looking that I loved it! I just wish the print on my stormtrooper's helmet wasn't so bad.
I don't mind the canonicity of the thing, but if I/anyone wanted to tie it into the cannon stuff, I can see it as an off shoot of *Zero-G Assault Stormtrooper* or something. (Or Darktrooper) Just missing a bigger helmet and a huge backpack. (There are a few types of the Zero-G Trooper Suit, and I'm referring to the big one; which looks like a big -ugly- stomtrooper themed EVA suit. Look it up, Wookiepedia has the pictures.)
Bought this and have posed next to my Rocket Raccoon mech. I do like the beefy/ sturdiness for the stormtrooper one compared to rocket's but it's not a posable. No hip articulation and can't move the minifig head. Overall good set though.
I wished the limbs where movable and the back piece would be made of multiple parts, that would allow some more possibilities for customization. But besides that, it looks fun. Thanks for your positive perspective on this, it's about toys and fun after all - always a joy to watch your reviews!
I wasn’t sure at first but since I watched your pre-release videos of he mechs you’ve made me realise and remember one thing: Lego is a TOY first and foremost. I’ve been kinda disappointed by Lego recently but now I realise why-I was putting form over function. Now I realise that Lego is still a masterpiece but in a different way I used to think. If you want a display piece buy UCS or Ideas or buy/build a MOC P.S You could probably use the older Stormtrooper helmet mold to turn the head easier
If these sets had a secondary build where you could make a micro fighter like ship I think more people would buy it. The same thing with the brick headz if they made them slightly larger so you could open it and have a small diorama with a figure that would be more popular imo.
Really liked the arm and leg details on this one. It also makes the most sense to me of the three since it feels like something the Empire would probably have made at some point (although unless you're stomping on Ewoks you could probably be picked off fairly quickly). Thinking of using it as a load lifter or combining it with the other one I got and liked. Sort of wondering what others might be interesting for this treatment. Clone troopers maybe... well if I'm honest I want all the original Empire bounty hunters to get one so I can have a latest set of the figures :)
I've already stated my interpretation of these mechs in the stream where you built the Ghost Rider mech. I don't consider them "non-canon," but as a large figure that "transforms into" a minifig as a play feature.
Honestly..I really like this! It would be pretty cool to see the Empire utilize some sort of exo-suit of some sort! This could honesty fit in quite well! Would definitely mod it in a couple areas, but honesty this works!
this looks like a pretty cool set and the price is also decent. like it's not canon friendly, but it doesn't matter. it's an awesome little mech. as a mecha fanatic, I am almost tempted to buy it
i actually really want the upcoming boba fett mech, the mech itself looks pretty fun and of course the new Boba Fett minifig is excellent for such a small set.

Yes, well said!
True
Although it would be nice to pay less than $500 on Bricklink for a Captain Rex figure. But we’re not entitled to it.

Hey, it's an Imperial Dreadknight! :D
It's a neat little set, even if I don't think it would be the sort of thing I'd want as a kid. I'm impressed by the poses it can take, even without elbow or knee articulation.
Well thought out mech toys that are also very useful parts packs. Would like to see some rebel versions. Good review 👍
As an adult builder, this isn't fir me. However, kids will love it! There is definitely a place for this. Good review!
I love all the mech sets, they're perfect for making custom... well, mechs. They also come with great figures. (Most of the time)
There have been too many mechs but a storm trooper mech would make sense. Looks fun and I like that the firearm shoots a projectile.
For some reason, I think mechs look better with melee weapons instead of firearms. Give him that First Order baton from Force Awakens and you are ready to rock n roll.

Both hilarious and epic. Excellent review, I want to see how Lego can improve on this for future SW mechs.

Therapist: Giga Chad stormtrooper isn't real, he can't hurt you
GIGA CHAD STORMTROOPER:
Long ago, people thought that we would have flying cars in the future.
But instead, we have LEGO Star Wars mechs.
Toys are great, and this looks really fun
I would have loved playing with these new SW mechs as a kid. I think Boba Fett is my favorite, but this design is just so much fun too!
Does it have any knee or elbow articulation?
Bought this and have posed next to my Rocket Raccoon mech. I do like the beefy/ sturdiness for the stormtrooper one compared to rocket's but it's not a posable. No hip articulation and can't move the minifig head. Overall good set though.
Already got 25 of these!!! My mech stormtrooper army is going to be epic!!! I’m a fan of em.

I can see these being great bases for Armored Core MOCs. Such good proportions for the mech.
Want to get one to try to transform it into an Aestartes
I like this design, it gives me Warhammer vibes. Hope they make more of this with the different variation of stormtropers.
I want to buy like 10 of these for the figure’s arm printing
I wasn't really a fan of the Marvel mechs but these are so cool Definitely need to pick this up
i actually really want the upcoming boba fett mech, the mech itself looks pretty fun and of course the new Boba Fett minifig is excellent for such a small set.
Think these are selling well, I saw one on shelves and since then I’ve only seen the other two at multiple stores
Awsome Trooper mech
I think the starwars mechs are really cool, I’m sure little me would’ve loved them
I actually like this because it resembles Dark Troopers from the old EU, the phase 2 or 3 variants at least.
I saw it at a shop the other day. I'd only get it for the Stormtrooper minifigure.
I hope they make a mech set for a B2 Super battle droid. It would be a great way to reintroduce B2s to the LEGO world with a new, less brittle, set of molds.
I built my Stormtrooper Mech on Saturday morning. Going to build Vader later today. Fett tomorrow then I guess. Spreading the joy of building over three days. 🙂
Gonna use 2 of these to upgrade my 2 rogue one troopers and give these the 2015 helmet
it’s a silly, fun little toy… but I love these, and I love the price… though I wouldn’t mind if they were a little bigger and a little pricier, with canopy pieces, maybe with unique prints.
also, the Vader one definitely needs a cape 👍
as someone who loved exo force as a kid these are an absolute no brainer for me!!
Thx for the vid i was thinking about buying this
Just got it defo my favorite of the 3
Color it black or dark bluish-grey and add a Kyle Katarn minifig and it would make a great Dark Trooper set. If only they made stuff from legends...
this makes sense to me because like in real life the military is starting to use exo suits or mechs so this makes sense to me from a military perspective
They are a little expensive. But nice to see there is a large special piece for the back. I don't mind them not being Canon, because their exactly what I like, Mech versions of characters. And I hope they do a bunch more. I'd like a final battle Mof Gideon and Bo Katan in this style.
what is the opposite of Chibi?
Well, I actually like these mechs and it would be cool and would give a good opportunity to make a version of a standard Phase 2 Trooper clone and one of General Grevious
Can’t wait to make a shield for this guy in the off-hand to make it a formidable opponent against lightsaber wielders!
this weird big back piece screams to me "4+ !!!!!"
Interesting figure, kind of reminds me of the Dark Troopers from Legends Canon.
huh, a new mech frame already. A shame, I preferred the last one that still allowed waist articulation
They finally made a body proportionate to the new Stormtrooper helmet.
Awesome!
Hopefully we get a jango fett mech sometime in the future, I want one without paying a fortune 😎
i don't mind this existing as a toy, i just think it's a stupid toy in its own right. Should've made it an AT-ST mech or something. And if it *had* to be humanoid mechs based on characters they should have had heads, not the mini figs sticking out.
aren't these pretty much the same as every other mech build Lego have released recently?
This actually seems very similar to the hazard troopers in Jedi Knight Jedi Academy.
Step one: buy four of these
Step two: build one of them as intended
Step three: use the other three sets’ parts to build an Imperial bunker
Yeah, that’s the one downside (imo) with the modern Stormtrooper helmet, they just can’t turn their heads. Otherwise this set is pretty cool! I’m looking forward to getting these!
👍👍
I like these as well.
Hope they do more. Darth Maul for example.
James 😁
One thing that does confuse me about these mecha Star Wars characters is that all three of them are villains, which somewhat limits playability. Maybe they only wanted characters who wear helmets that cover their faces.
Great point but who would make a good hero mech? C3P0 would be amazing I recon, or Chewy!! 😮
@@hanselmansell7555a Din Djarin Mando mech seems like a no brainer. An Obi-Wan mech based on his armored up look from the 2D clone wars would also be sick as well. And much like the stormtrooper, a clone soldier mech would be great.

I was surprised during my build to see how they went with locked knees and elbows.
I like how chunky it is.
