You are indeed "The Man" when it comes to succinctly describing how best to use a laser printer, particularly with an Ortur and using LightBurn! Please keep up the *great* job, you are really helping a LOT of people (including me). Thank you so very much.
If you want a super cheap and quiet air pump, rescue the compressor from an old refrigerator. It certainly made a huge difference to my laser cutter, and because it is basically a pump, inside a sealed enclosure, mounted on springs, and swimming in its own oil supply, the air coming out the pipe is noisier than the pump. Fridge compressors are piston pumps vs the one described in the vid, a diaphragm pump. I had to add a catch tank (jar with a hole in/out) to catch any oil vapour that might get pumped through, but is working beautifully and has the added bonus of smoothing out the pulsing of the airflow . It helps with both engraving and cutting as it keeps the airspace between the laser and target surface clear of smoke which tends to de-focus the laser beam. If you have built a home-grown laser like I did, you can add the on/off switch through a relay, tied to the coolant control of the CNC shield which powers the pump on only when required.
Great video! Just purchased my first laser yesterday. Do I need air assist if I plan to engrave only (not cutting) My plan is to engrave cups, coasters, and key chains!
Thank you!! Great news about your new laser!! You wouldn't really need it if you are just engraving. But if you wanted to get it and keep it at a very low pressure, it would keep the smoke etc. away from the lens. I would say use it when it comes and get used to it, then upgrade later if you want/need to!. :)
Congratulations to your new laser and have lots of fun :) I plan to upgrade my laser too with an air assist. From this and other videos I think the etching will be clearer and the lens will not get dirty so fast.
@@catiewiggins4312 its not too bad, if you can hang it with some bungies it goes almost silent. make sure you dont put it on something that will resonate the sounds.
No disrespect intended but fancy doing a test with etching, when the air assist is mostly useful for when you are cutting and deep engraving. You did acknowledge this in the video. Also the before and after... the before version, you mentioned that the laser had move and you could tell. how is it a fair before and after?
Hi, just ordered a little pump ;) I didn't find the nozzle and ball clamps anywhere to print them ? Are they avalaible on thingiverse or else ? That seems really great for accuracy.
Just got a new Ortur Laser Master Pro and have been watching your great videos while waiting for missing parts. In the mean time I've made some upgrades. I've added a base system, feet, riser blocks, and an easily replaceable sacrificial board between the base and the laser frame. If you're curious how this looks, tell me how to send you images. While making these upgrades I had an accident. I bumped the off switch and it popped off. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?
”Schools of thought”. There are several SCHOOLS of thought. A train of thought is something you lose when you ”blank out”. Great video tho, thanks a lot for sharing, I’ve already ordered one of these kits!
Hi Jim, Cool Video! Do they have an air assist kit for the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro? Does anyone know if it is safe to use an aluminum bake pan or foil to protect my tables' surface when using the laser?
They do have a kit for the pro! I would not use those things because they could reflect the laser and that's bad. If you set the whole thing on a thin piece of wood, that would be better.
Your hands be shaking! Need to switch to decaff dude cuz we wanna see more videos! Question for painted surfaces on metal would a "reverse air assist" (vacuum) in/out of a mason jar keep soot in the jar? Haven't seen anyone try making one yet so it probably wouldn't work but had to ask.
I really enjoy your videos, you explain things well with the least amount of B/S. Thank You taking your time to share your knowledge with us.

Thanks for the great video and advice. I've contacted the air assist people to see if they have a device for the new Ortur 3
Man I really like you video about laser engraving. I bought one last week and your video very helpful. You the best 👍🏽
Thank you! Glad you like the videos and hope they help!

@@olafb.2929 thanks! I definitely will get used to it and then upgrade.
Ive got the same pump on the k40, works quite well at keeping flames down
Agreed! It works good for sure!
How’s the noise level on it?

Is this a better pump then the regular berdair pump for 3d printers?
I was wondering if there is an air assist kit for a Two Trees 55 TT S Laser or if the one here in this video would work with it?
great video and super idea for upgrade! do they have air assist for TwoTrees lasers?
I've seen people using radial fans instead of air pumps would you recommend it or have you considered it?
I have not played with that, so I couldn't recommend it or not recommend it. But, it may be a cool thing to test!

Is an air assistant necessary? What happens if I don't use it?
Awesome Video! Can the air assist be used for the nasum A5 Pro laser engraver?
With a farm, set up a series of electric valves and controls to automate the on/off.
I like that!

VERY helpful!! Thanks so much - you are a lifesaver!! :)
Why not use it as a Vacuum to get the burnt smell and debree out of your room for exemple?
Is this compatible with other desk top lasers?

Can the Sculpfun S9 laser work with the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro S2?
How about a cut with and without air assist?

I would like to have seen it in action
ie lasering without air assist
then lasering with air assist
