- In this video, you will learn how to use Google Drive for Desktop. I will show you how to install and set up Google Drive for Desktop. Once it is set up you can quickly drag and drop files into Google Drive for desktop or create new files within it. All changes will be quickly synched between your Google Drive for Desktop and your Google Drive. You were the only resource I found who mentioned that THEY GO TO THE G: DRIVE by default. Holy cow, that was annoying. All my files were there the whole time. We have subscribed Google Workspace Business Standard plan, and we found that the XLSX may not notify if someone is opening the files and may loss the edited data if 2 people open the file at the same time...

Hello thanks for the video first of all, I add a big folder at google drive with subfolder subsubfolder etc big folder that I want to keep it sync and when I press done and save nothing is sync on a cloud even after 6 hours

Hi, Thank you for the informative and very helpful video. I've two Google Drives - one on my private Google account and one on my business Google account. I've created a G: folder on my desktop for my private Google drive. I was wondering how I can create a separate folder for my work-related Google drive.
You can sync both accounts (up to 4) using Google Drive for Desktop and you'll see each account listed individually on your computer so you can easily access the content of either. I add shortcuts to each on my desktop.

Hi, thank you for this detailed video. I have some issues loading my drive. I have a normal Drive account. I also have some documents shared with me. there are a couple of errors that I get: 1) The server encountered an error. Please try again later. The other error I get is "There were some problems loading your apps." I've tried emptying the cache. I've tried uninstalling chrome and reinstalling it, I have also tried opening on other browsers like Opera mini, but I encounter the same issue. Nothing works. I just need access to my drive documents and other documents people have shared with me. I would appreciate some help with the problem. Thank you so much.
How do you view .heic extension? I'm not sure what that is, but I noticed it comes up on photos now some, and windows doesn't always want to open those files.....is it an apple extension?

Syncs with everything you're using DFD with.
Does it make a difference if you save something directly to the Google drive? Or does it sync both ways? I ask because I saved a bunch of photos directly to Google Drive but they are not showing when I look on my computer.

does google drive affect the space on your computer. e.g. my compes drives say local drive has 320 gb of free space and google drive has 310 gb of free space. if i add to google drive online does it take up space on my computer. so say i get 1 tb on google drive will it even be able to transfer to google app on my computer? thank you
I set this up on my personal Google account some time ago. I also selected some folders on my PC to back up. I now see that I accidently selected My Drive to back up, so I think I have My Drive in the cloud twice. And they are not identical. I see some folders in the back-up version that are not in my current My Drive. Could that be because I deleted it from My Drive but the back-up keeps it? When I look in Activity for the back-up version nothing has happened for a long time, so it is not backing up? confused.

Previous version of Google drive was better where we used to have it as a folder and not as a Virtual Drive. It's easy to access on Jupyter Notebook while coding..

Quick question... would adobe files like indesign and photoshop also work? I want to save adobe files in the google drive folder but will I be able to edit them and save them? Like would it save my work and I can continuously work on the file thats saved in my google drive? Basically the same example you used for Microsoft word.
I don't see why not. The files are still saved on your computer. Though if the files are very large and your upload speed is not that fast, it may take a long time for the files to sync up to Google Drive. But otherwise it should work fine.
Hello thanks for the video Any idea why "my computer" shows on my google pixel in the drive app, but t does NOT show up in google drive on my laptop, or on my desktop (both windows 11). The "my computer" folder is avaialble on the web page version, and on my pixel phone drive up, but NOT my laptop or PC google drive desktop app. Its very confusing. I've tried to re install, delete cache, etc on both machines. But nothing i do will allow it to show. Strangley "my laptop" DOES appear on the laptop and desktop pc google drive app, and ive never used that folder and it has nothing in. But "my computer" is full of stuff that i've synced, it just won't show. Any help would be great please!

Thanks for the guide. But, I still have the same concern. The capacity of G drive is the same as my hard disk. That defies the entire point of having a large capacity (2TB) cloud storage. I never chose "mirror" option, I didn't even select a folder to be available online. I've seen the same question in many forums without a concrete solution. I didn't have such issue with Dropbox for many years. I switched to Google because it was much cheaper. Anyone knows how to manage this? For instance, I have 100gb empty space in my hard disk but 2tb of Google storage. I only see 100gb G drive. (note: I'm not worried about slow access to cloud files, most of them are for my back up, not for daily use)
Does anybody here know why the new Google Drive app for Windows 10 sometimes just stops working? It's an issue because it's a virtual drive now and if that stops I can't save my open files anymore since the location doesn't exist anymore.
Also I could not even locate where the app stores the files now on my computer and that's nagging me too.

This should be EASY... but it's not, because I can't find the way to do it.
At first, I built all my files in Google Drive (GD) on my PC-1. I have tons of files of all types. I can see them, rename them, move them etc. No problem there.
THEN: I bought a new pc. PC-2
I soon realized I wanted to SEE all my files on my PC-1 on the new PC... And that is where the problem begins.

What's the point of the google drive app? I've tried looking into it. I assumed you'd be able to open your docs and sheets files via an application, like how it works on the phone, but instead it always opens in browser. I can't imagine an actual usage for this other than that but it seems like that's not what this does.

I want to switch accounts. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and when I reinstalled it, it instantly signed me in instead of letting me choose an account in the browser. Why?!
Since I moved to drive for desktop it has been a nightmare. The g drive disappears from my PC all the time. The old sync software worked great

I have a similar issue. Frequently have to disconnect drive and then reconnect by login in through my browser. This only happens on the newest of my 2 Lenovo laptops and not on my desktop either. The issue migrated along to Win 11. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and have just resigned myself to living with it.

Like your voice. Like your knowledge, but your presentation is full of the word "here", which means i have to be able to quickly see where your cursor is. Instead of "here", plse use the the name of the location your are moving to. then I would find your video helpful.

In your presentation, there is no "Computers" selection under Google Drive on the web - simply "My Drive". I believe this has been introduced since your video was created two years ago. Can you clarify the difference between these options? Everything I find reads like stereo instructions!
