My husband and I have a 30-year-old son who has special needs. He attended the in-person Night to Shine in 2020, right before the explosion of Covid. That was his very first Night to Shine event. Oh, how glorious it was! Everything was PERFECT! Even the parents were invited to enjoy a Parents Dinner in a separate room.
I am thrilled to say that this year my husband and I will be a part of the Shine Thru Crew, we are going to be cheering all of the wonderfully made and beautiful individuals as they drive-thru with their smiling faces, honoring each King and Queen!
Our son will be attending, along with his " brothers" ( his roommates that live with him in a beautiful group home)
I told my husband, we can't forget to bring kleenex, because I know BOTH of us will get a bit misty-eyed...Happy tears of JOY!
I want to give a shout-out to our home church , Bay Presbyterian, and also to the partnering Strongsville United Methodist Church.

I went to the drive thru thing and it was amazing, I loved it and watched the video and I cried in tears of joy as Tim and his wife crowned King and queen of prom. Thank you Tim, I had a wonderful time. I knew you would never cancel this perfect event. Thank you and thank you God. Amen. 💜💜💜💜
I did not get to go to the Shine Through because of weather and my parents work schedule, I really hope next year we have night to shine in person because I have a feeling that if this COVID crap is still going on during Night To Shine I won’t be able to go to the shine through again.

I just bawled my eyes out ! This has been my passion 29 years ! I have a son with cerebral palsy ( I’m his caregiver it’s easier to call me mom ) I’m his POA he would love something-like this !!

I would never go to A Night to Shine and I have autism spectrum disorders. It would be scary to be with all these people I didn't even know, be with a buddy, be followed by the press, be pushed to dance and socialize with people I don't know and in front of others. It's not my goal to do cute things in front of others and mingle with a whole bunch of people I don't even know. This dance is overrated.
I'm autistic too and I went to night to shine in person. Your not pushed to dance and there is always a quiet room and other things. But everyone likes different things.
