- Repairing the Sharp RT3151 Cassette Deck, after the repair I stumbled across the more official parts for sale, but the parts I used here work just fine and at a cheaper price, a total of £7.99. Though you might be more inclined to spend £27 for the full kit including the idler tyre.
That would just leave the belt kit and pinch roller rubber to get for a full replacement.
If you are unsure then be careful as you could do more damaged than good
I would end up with a lot of parts and no working deck ;)
Thanks for your comment on the 4 way speaker switch box video, I have an e-mail with the comment but for some reason it is not showing up in the comments for that video. I have tried to see why not, but have no idea why.

great explanation of how to replace the take-up pulley. I love the tubing idea! Every old cassette deck I've worked on has the gooey take-up pulley that must be replaced. Great demonstration! Thank You!
I appreciate this is an older video now but it's been very helpful, along with one from Vidtech, in getting my old Sharp RT-1144 working perfectly again. The mechanism in the 1144 is almost identical and uses the same idler and gear assembly so bought it from the guy in Romania, fitted it along with new belts and after calibration the deck now works perfectly. Not bad for a deck that only cost me £20 on Ebay as it wasn't working.

I have been thinking of getting a value amplifier for some time, but from what I have been told and reading the cheap sub £400 ones are probably not worth getting and at the moment that would be my budget for one. Thank you very much for this. I was able to replace the take up rubber (I ordered the kit) on my 3388 and it now works again. It gave me a chance to clean all the switches and controls as well. I couldn't have done it without this video.

Sorry for delay, I forgot . It might be worth given the record/playback long bar switch a clean, its the 6 inch bar switch that is in the center, slightly to the left, if you give a few squirts of some contact cleaner on top where a few small holes are, some should seep in and might do the trick , as the bar causes loads of problems when dirty.
