- Sound selection is one of the most important aspects when it comes to music production/beat making. Whichever genre you are producing in, sound selection makes your music and beats sound consistent, full, and well put together. In this video I give you a couple tips on how to pick the right sounds for your instruments and drums!

Somehow this is the best mixing tutorial I've ever seen and it's not even about mixing.
Direct and actionable advice that applies to every scenario, the kind of content I love to see.
Simon you never fail to help me without I even knew it, I needed this for the Cymatics beat contest
I am falling in love with your ad beat. Loved it yesterday, loving it more now.
We would love if you post it as a beat on UA-cam so we can listen to the whole thing.
I'll do a soundcloud
That works too
@@ServidaMusic yessssss I love that beat
I like this. It gives us an idea of what your course is like and how serious you are and lastly, how much information you give. And you sir, gave a lot of information.

Best producer who simplify the music for us. Thank u simon ❤️
The light they need
Former dubstep and rddim producer in a dubstep drop there Generally is layering like background elements and sometimes basses are made by layering 2 or 3 togeather but we have to be quite careful with an eq to aviid mud and we almost always sidechain to get the kick and snare cut though
Make a video for mixing and mastering 808 and kicks on Reggaeton/trap/drill etc. Beats ... And the perfect 808/kick selection for every type😜
Thank you for sharing this with us
I swear everytime i need to learn something you already got a vid for it thanks bro

Awesome !
been searching for a vid like this. Simon you're de goat
This video is everything, I have always been aware of sound selection but I feel I will be more mindful now. Thank you
Well guess I'm going back to the course again☺ for every 30 minutes of video I had to watch 2 hours to understand... no lie. I started of as a legit goon 0 music theory.
the king is back yet again, amen to this one
The Kick2 plugin can make kicks, but it can also make HYDRO BANGIN 808s, and i love that i bought it. Its a bit hard to get a whole comprehension on it but its incredible. I even layer it with another kick
Yes, sir!
Dislikes are from people who say ‘’music theory doesn’t matter’

This is a really great and informative video, Simon! You're like my mentor 💪
I don't need to see the video to like it, if it's servida music, it's very good.
5:13 i was just typing this question in the comments and you answered it before i could click send lol
another question: is it recommended to tune your drum sounds (kicks, snares, hats) to the key of the song all the time ?
5:32 lately ive been overthinking trying to make sure my drums hit on one of the main 3 notes from the key of the song
this clip helped me go back to listening to the ears and not being too technical with it.

Mans changed it from Simon servida to servida music 😭😭
Changed what?
@@ServidaMusic 👀
After spending 5k on drum kits ,Out of 50k kicks 50k snares 50k808 etc ,I only kept 500 of each ,A lot of kits have the same sounds just name different ,But there are some gems out there that sound clean and more alive ,I recommend just buying random kits that you see the hard work put in and not the kits that ya favorite producer drop
Sounds like rulessss to me
Bro you're such a good teacher 🔥🔥🔥 Hope you're doing well
Very usefull!

Hey Simon! You make some smooth-ass beats man...but I was wondering if you could do a beginner's guide to Fl studio? I want to start making music, but I have NO IDEA where to start or how fl studio works
@@CommonHuman04 Thanks! I just came across a youtube channel called "In the mix", and he explains FL Studio to complete noobs like me 😂
So today, I'm gonna make my first beat. I just downloaded the trial version, so I guess I'll just record the beats I make since I can't save them
@@CommonHuman04 Thank you. No Sana no life ✌
This guy makes pretty good beats, he should start an online beatmaking course or something
So many dumb ideas today
I needed this so baddd

Yo this is the best commercial for the full course. Seriously considering

It might sound crazy to some but The important thing to remember is that there are other drum sounds than the roland 808's out there.
BLASPHEMY
SOUND. SELECTION.
omg i asked recently myself about clap or snare lol
This is gold
Notif gang
I miss this kind of videos😔
I don't understand WHY all trap producers treat "open hats" as a separate instrument. I think the open hat should usually match a closed hat used and be integrated in a pattern, where the hat opens and closes. (That's how drums work in when played live)
It depends on the style of the song
Who else prefers clap to snare? ✋
I've been enjoying the rim lately
@@ServidaMusic It depends :}
Why pick if u can use both?
hola pops
Bro i wish i had money to buy opro level beats!
no one really explains the psychological aspect of sound
selection. Most producers just to tell you to pick a sound that's nice
and goes well with the other elements. From a victim's perspective I'd
like to know "HOW DO I KNOW IF A SOUND IS APPROPRIATE??". You may get
certain sounds for a melody and you find yourself liking them but then
experienced musicians tell you your sound selection is off. It's sort of
a mental block. It sounds okay to you but not okay to someone else. Now
"HOW DO YOU ACHIEVE THAT PERCEPTION OF GOOD AND BAD SOUNDS?" is the
question that should be addressed... This tutorial covered most of it
Hi Simon...I'm just starting out as a music producer...but recently I feel like nothing's coming to my mind...no drum patterns, no melodies, nothing at all. Can you give me any suggestions that might help??
snares > claps 😤💯
5:02 I forgot you were talking because it low key sounded like a rap 😂
wow.... exactly what I needed haha
My teacher
When i confused between clap & snare what should I used, i just say " Two is better than one" like BOYS LIKES GIRLS say 😅
Man where can I get the shiver 808?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Clap
I would say only start experimenting once you've mastered the basics.
I totally agree
The video editing is different, someone else edited this one video right?
