I always took my Turo cars to a shop for an accurate estimate then when Turo wrote me the check I replaced everything with used parts and pocketed the cash.
I just had a couple weeks like that. Tundra was totaled, Prius bumper and fog light smashed, Yaris driver door was bent so far forward it bent the pillar a and hinges, and the Corolla had a rear bumper dent similar to your Fusion dent. The rain usually comes in three's for us every couple months. I think the Corolla didn't count in our three's because the guest paid us right away for that repair. :)
I just had a total loss on one of my Turo vehicles. First time ever!
Hopefully it works out with the payment! Total losses can sometimes be a win!
Why not the 75 plan? The 5% extra does not seem worth it for that bigger deductible
We look at it on a semi yearly basis and change when it makes sense, it has historically made since to be on the 80 but that could always change! We were on the 75 for a long time prior
Do the math, it’s not just 5%. For example, from 75% to 90% plan you make 20% more on all your income..
I’m a new Turo host (a month now with 3 reservations and 3 five star reviews). Found your channel this month and thought I’d ask you a question I’m not sure about. I was told to not rent to first time renters that just signed up to Turo…. You don’t know what you’re getting?? Do you guys have a system for first time guest (charge more, say no, extra cautious, anything). My next reservation is a newby to Turo???
I've been a host on Turo for about 2 years, and I've had multiple damage claims, a theft and a total loss, and honestly if you purchased right, if the vehicle is making money, and you have the right protection plan for your level of risk tolerance it's really hard to lose $$ if you follow the terms of service.
Sometimes, Turo can be really slow to payout.
I usually fix it myself, then pay it, then submit the receipt to Turo to speed up the process and not submit a supplemental. 🧾
I have the same happening with me.

@@AubreyHP Turo is advertising like crazy also in my market daily rate is up by 10$ / day on the economy cars and they are still being booked, but some of the renters are 😱

I don't know what it is about Turo renters. They seem to think they can trash the cars they rent without paying for damages.
I think it just reveals a flaw amongst a lot of people, not just turo people...and that is that people are gross and negligent.
@@AubreyHP Are you sure about that? Because it literally seems as if, because of the app being a business person to customer thing would make people feel like they can do whatever to your car. 😂 Like the backing of a large corporation with a history would probably scare half of them into being careful with the car.

when you have 30 cars it is not passive -- it can be pretty passive with less than 10! Also depends on how much you are in your fleet, we opt to work on our own cars which creates a lot more work, but also more profit.
With just one vehicle it's considered active income and you could say semi passive if you were only putting a few hours in per week. Otherwise, Passive Income by definition is something that requires no active work. So owning Stock or buying Stocks via Dollar Cost Averaging etc all Passive. Owning a rental property is semi passive unless you have a property management company then it's purely passive.
Why would you self repo the car wouldn't you just report it to Turo??

We did -- Report right away, always. This guest was driving around the entire city so Turo didn't want to repo until he was settled into one spot, when he showed up just down the street we thought we would give it a try.
Yes. You can wait it out and collect the fees from Turo.

Whats your tip for filing the claim so quick for the Fusion or did you actually take the car to a shop to get all the quote and submit it?
I don’t know that there is a strategy more so it’s luck of the draw of your support rep. The rep who helped us with the fusion is one we’ve worked with before and he is excellent. Some reps are more responsive than others and this can really either bog down or speed up the process

So since the Hyundai was damaged the person that was supposed to rent that hyundai that day wasn’t able to, what do they do or what happens when an event like that occurs
With our fleet, we typically have a car we can swap the guest we will just do that, otherwise we will cancel and it won't count against our metrics

I’m curious. Did you say you got your key back from the guest who hadn’t returned a vehicle? How did that happen? Did he return it? Or did I completely misunderstand that part?

That’s my biggest worry about using cash cars for Turo due to lower daily rates you’re more than likely to bring in less than favorable clients , can I get your opinion on this take ?
We had a Maserati a few years ago and also have a Lincoln Navigator now (as well as cars that are nicer cash cars) and in our experience people abuse the crap out of every car -- our Lincoln was damaged on it's first trip, and then again on it's third -- this is why we like cash cars because it at least leaves us open to profit off of that damage. Damage is, at least in our opinion, just a part of people renting cars.

Yes, the lower daily rates can bring in less than favorable clientele. But this can work in your favor with excess cleaning fees, smoking fees, late fees, etc... you just have to be prepared. I use Spiffy Smart Tumbler for smoking odor. If you purchase the cars right and they damage them or wreck them or even steal it, you should be able to profit.
Are they accepting Hyundais again?
Not all Hyundai's are effected by the recall - of our 4 Hyundai's 2 are out and 2 are not....depends on the VIN
I tried turo for 4 months. people treat the car like crap. sold the car after multiple headaches and bad guests.

Escape - Okay, so you have a 'cheap' vehicle that is obviously old and worn out (I see those faded headlights and it's a 2012 or [probably] older so it's at least 14 years old) and got in a minor accident, and you're hoping it'll be totaled and you can make some money on it. Gotcha.
We are not hoping it’s totaled, but we want to be realistic with the claim - if it was totaled, this car has like a $3500 ACV, we certainly wouldn’t be able to replace it with that same price. we will happily get this vehicle fixed
Turo typically doesn't total out the car unless they're undrivable. Which is good because the repairs sometimes cost more than the replacement of the car.
