Remember when gasoline was $1.80 per gal? Wasn't that long ago. Also remember when the pipeline from Canada to the USA was in full swing, being built and refineries were coming to life? Gas jumped .25 or more a gallon within 24 hours last week to $3.39 to 3.54.
Some of the prices were a little bit higher than here but not as outrageous as I expected. Prices in general have gone up exorbitant amount. The cost of living increases are becoming insane.

Hi Stace, the green screen is kinda weird, what is it? Do you have a big screen behind you? The price of gas here is $3.79.9 per gal. to fill a 25 lb. propane bottle, $18 and a 100 lb. bottle would be $82. Never had goat cheese so, don't know if I would like it or not, I do like Extra Sharp Chedder Cheese, Jalapeno cheese and Horseradish.
Haha my fave cheese! I'm finding it's not totally outrageous up here. Now if you go outside of Whitehorse it's a lot more costly but in town is where most people do the bulk of their shopping.
I have to say, things looked, say, 10% higher than southern Alberta....much better than I expected. And there is no such thing as too much cheese! 🙃 gas is around $1.43 / L now.
um your prices are cheaper than ours, i generally spend $350-$400 a week, three adults, two monster dogs and two cats. our bread is $4.30 a loaf. cheese, unnamed block 1 kg $10, as for petrol um $2.80 nzd per litre- i dont use a vehicle anymore, i use an electric mobility scooter so thankfully i dont need to worry about that.
I was curious after last week. I am surprised how much the prices are the same as ours in Southern B.C. Gas is going up here so we will be the same on that as well. What are land and house prices like up there? Thanks for sharing.
Oh real estate is INSANE up here!! I guess similar to BC in that it's so hard for people to be able to afford to buy now. You can't find a home in town for under $500k.
Good video. Prices are not that out of line compared to Save on Foods in Calgary. Enjoyed this video. Amazing how inexpensive gas is in the US compared to Canada. Taxes Taxes and Taxes.
169 a liter Here in Kapuskasing Ontario an hour north from me a n Hearst Ontario 179 a liter. You pay the same amount as produce same issue with use empty shelves issue. You guys have the same prices as us at the grocery store.
Prices are rising everywhere on everything. Even gas to heat my home went up 30 percent, so I keep temps around 63 degrees. I hear gasoline has gone up 50 cents a gallon since I last filled my car. I recently had out patient surgery and had to pay over 900 hundred dollars that my insurance didn’t pay and I think I still have to pay anesthesia. Prices rising but my income is the same. Yet I’m not going to complain too much, some are struggling to fed their family. Today my heart hurts for Ukraine with the horrific crimes they suffer from that evil so called man, I can’t even speak his name. I watched the story line with the group, you were last in line but not in the final part. I think the third person (lady) really got off track, it was funny. Oh, are you still stuck in the creek? It has been around 70 degrees here but temperatures drop this weekend. Things are blooming here in north Georgia. Okay, stay warm and safe. See you next video.
It's so true about income not increasing, hard to adjust to that imbalance. Poor Ukraine is right, unreal. I might just be out of the creek, stay tuned haha!
Hi Stacie, I think the Canadian $1 is worth .79 in US currency. So if something is $1 there it'd be $.79 in US?. I pay $60 a week on groceries for me.....$30 on gas . My utilities run sbout $200 per month My place is paid for and my ex pays the taxes on the 6 acres l live on. If l lived in Alaska ld be eating cornbread and beans...lol. Oh l meant to ask you if you had insurance on your cabin?
That was an interesting tour. The lemons are 20 cents more here in the rural high desert of S. Calif. I've never seen octopus sold in a grocery store! Who eats octopus? I've never heard anyone say, oh, I need me some octopus. Our cheaper gas is around $4.30 a gallon but the big-name stations are close to $5.00 a gallon. Sourdough is the best. We have a small local bakery that makes several types of loaves but if I don't get there by 10 am the sourdough is gone (they open at 9am). It's about $4.99 for a loaf. The best sourdough is in San Francisco so if you ever get there you've got to test all the best bakeries.
@@CabinDweller Yes this small specialty bakery is pricey but it's a small tourist town near Joshua Tree National Park and they give a discount to locals. There is a line waiting when they open for the warm bread. All you need with this sourdough is some luscious butter. This loaf has the crusty top.
@@CabinDweller regular loaf unsliced. Sourdough gonna be more for sure, but it’s hot and fresh, kinda a French loaf style. Can’t go wrong. I’ve been buying the frozen bread dough loaves, just thaw and rise, bake. 5 loaves for $6.99 also very good and does wonders for the smell of your house. Enjoy
amazing I thought it would be cheaper inyour state than in France, but everything is increasing everywhere now. If we reach your price level, I think people will pull out their forks to go talk to the "decision-makers", the old-fashioned way...😅
The prices are a little higher than ares in Indiana USA 🇺🇸 but that's why it's better to grow your own and hunt for meat it's better for and cheaper yes more work but worth it I think
Definitely more work. Not sure if growing veggies actually works out to be cheaper? I see how much people here spend on it and it’s crazy expensive. But if you’re able to grow enough to seek it might balance out.
You and I would get along just fine as I also think sourdough is the most excellent bread in the world. Can a man (or woman) live on bread alone? No but add butter to warm sourdough and I will give it a go. As for which animal based protein to eat my rule is - if it has less than two or more than four observable appendages I do not eat it! Lets have octopus for supper.... NO! How about snake.... NO! How about bugs... DOUBLE NO!! Pass the moose please (but not the tongue because who knows what it has been licking😄). In all seriousness food security is certainly becoming an issue.
Wow, prices are not that different in Toronto. What a pleasant surprise. I thought it would be that of Nunavut ($30+/lb. for grapes?)

Dairy and cheese- not on my list anymore. I look at nutrition density per dollar.
Yah it’s a green screen so you can edit it out and place images or video over top. Our propane is about $1/lb to fill.
Octopus... I don't eat anything that's still holding onto the plate! 😂😂
I'm really surprised that the prices aren't that much higher than here (in the Outaouais, Qc) and YES! Armstrong cheese is pretty darn tasty!
Haha my fave cheese! I'm finding it's not totally outrageous up here. Now if you go outside of Whitehorse it's a lot more costly but in town is where most people do the bulk of their shopping.
Thanks for sharing
What is your food budget?
I'm in Edmonton, and I have seen grocery prices go up very much. It's commonplace in so many places. I actually do like goat cheese. Cheers! ✌️🇨🇦
Haha goat cheese! I know some people love it but I just can't do it.
This is crazy because food could be grown locally in greenhouses, with geothermal electricity like Greenland does
That would be amazing
I lived in the Yukon for over 20 years and your idea is crazy due to weather year roun not being conducent to it.
This is so true!!🥐🥐🥐😂😂😂✌️✌️✌️🥐🥐🥐🥐
I have to say, things looked, say, 10% higher than southern Alberta....much better than I expected. And there is no such thing as too much cheese! 🙃 gas is around $1.43 / L now.
haha true! Apparently Shopping Stacie thought so as I kept gravitating towards cheese aisles. 😂
um your prices are cheaper than ours, i generally spend $350-$400 a week, three adults, two monster dogs and two cats. our bread is $4.30 a loaf. cheese, unnamed block 1 kg $10, as for petrol um $2.80 nzd per litre- i dont use a vehicle anymore, i use an electric mobility scooter so thankfully i dont need to worry about that.
I shop every 2 weeks or so and it’s for myself, easily $200
You may have answered, but why so many empty shelves? Txs for your videos.
It actually wasn't too bad but who knows, a while ago we had more empty shelves but it seems to be better now.
Food has gone up in past 2 years in Fairbanks
Yep, same
I was curious after last week.
@@CabinDweller Well I guess I won't be selling high and moving north. Prices seem to be crazy everywhere, I don't know who can afford it.
Good video. Prices are not that out of line compared to Save on Foods in Calgary. Enjoyed this video. Amazing how inexpensive gas is in the US compared to Canada. Taxes Taxes and Taxes.
I know right, so much cheaper in the US!
2024 and I live outside of detroit, Michigan.. your prices are cheaper or the same as many of ours 😵💫
Stacy great video thank you😎
thanks for this useful video
169 a liter Here in Kapuskasing Ontario an hour north from me a n Hearst Ontario 179 a liter. You pay the same amount as produce same issue with use empty shelves issue. You guys have the same prices as us at the grocery store.
Yeah I heard there were similar gas prices out East. Crazy. The shelves weren't too bad this time, they were worse about a month ago.
Its the same price here in Australia... no big difference.
How often do you make the trip in for groceries?
Depends on if I'm working in town at all but usually every 2 weeks or so.
Hi Stacie, I think the Canadian $1 is worth .79 in US currency. So if something is $1 there it'd be $.79 in US?.
I pay $60 a week on groceries for me.....$30 on gas
. My utilities run sbout $200 per month My place is paid for and my ex pays the taxes on the 6 acres l live on.
If l lived in Alaska ld be eating cornbread and beans...lol.
Oh l meant to ask you if you had insurance on your cabin?
Please share some prices of clothing in yukon
Haha that’s exactly what I thought about the octopus! I’ve never seen it either, so weird. Wow that’s some pricey sourdough you have!
@@CabinDweller Yes this small specialty bakery is pricey but it's a small tourist town near Joshua Tree National Park and they give a discount to locals. There is a line waiting when they open for the warm bread. All you need with this sourdough is some luscious butter. This loaf has the crusty top.
Wow…I pay .99 for a loaf of bakery bread here in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦
@@deanjollow2892 sourdough or regular bread?
@@CabinDweller regular loaf unsliced. Sourdough gonna be more for sure, but it’s hot and fresh, kinda a French loaf style. Can’t go wrong. I’ve been buying the frozen bread dough loaves, just thaw and rise, bake. 5 loaves for $6.99 also very good and does wonders for the smell of your house. Enjoy
So is this the superstore Walmart or superstore in Whitehorse when I was there in Whitemarsh they only had Walmart
This is Superstore, not Walmart. They’ve both been here for years now.
Okay when I was there living in Whitehorse while actually in carcrose
amazing I thought it would be cheaper inyour state than in France, but everything is increasing everywhere now. If we reach your price level, I think people will pull out their forks to go talk to the "decision-makers", the old-fashioned way...😅
Medicine Hat, Alberta . Superstore. Bakery bread.99, bananas.79 kg, milk $4.00
Is there a Walmart near by? What are the prices like there?
There is, they don’t have groceries though. But for other stuff, it’s pretty cheap.
Not much difference from where I live, I spent $8 for 3 boneless pork ribs. Over $10 for stew meat
Its About the Same in Niagara falls area.
I thought only Food prices in Malaysia are not looking good .
You have good pricing on bread and chips that's about it dam how's the pricing on craft beer 🍺
Ha I'll get those prices next time, good question!
It's everywhere not just up there.
I live in northern Michigan, and the only price difference I saw was for chicken. Yours is much more expensive.
Yah I don’t remember those being that expensive!
Cheaper than where I am in australia. I am sort of surprised for some reason
Wow, interesting.
Your prices are a little bit more than here, Hamilton, Ont. but not crazy expensive. I heard Tuktoyaktuk prices are brutal
Oh yeah if you go further north here or to fly-in only communities, prices are outrageous.
1.51 : is your windshield cracked?
Of course! Everyone has a cracked windshield here 😆
@@CabinDweller Most people aren’t so optimistic about these issues.
I’d have been in tears.
Its not expensive, its the same price like here in Australia not a big difference.
Hey mate. Your prices on petrol and groceries are very similar to Australian prices. 😀
Interesting!
Lol you are hilarious
Similarly prices in Edmonton
Interesting!
Price of groceries has jumped so much
It's crazy now.
🤣🤣Yep I agree about the octopus, just gross! And sourdough is the best!
Why doesn't Canada make their own food?
Prices are exactly the same where im at right, gas food, exact.. sw ontario
Gas has gone up .10 since that video, now at 1.79 for regular. Has it gone up there?
@@CabinDweller Sunday here were around 1.65
2 ltr. Milk $4
Good Lord!
Meat prices compared to the east coast.
After your gas bill, I don't see how you afford it.
Luckily I don’t go to town that often.
$12 for cheese?
Dam,i never check prices. That must mean I'm rich or a fool
haha, to be honest, I usually do the same!
We're far too important and busy for that sort of stuff😂😂
