Great restoration video.I Love the time and patience you have with this Classic gems from the past. I love 70's toys so much! Especially SMDM and the Bionic Woman. They were my favorite toys as a kid!
Tim! We have so much in common! We must really be brothers! I love your videos! I cleaned my bionic woman that I found in UP just the wY u did. But I probably used baby shampoo n regular conditioner. Then I blow dried the hair. Do u recommended blow drying on vintage toys. I found a Farrah fawcett doll n clean her up n blow dried her hair n some her hair melted. Wat can I do. Tim all these toys must be yours. I have lots too. I saw the Star Wars life size action figures a few years ago in holland. Princess, Luke , boba fette, ect... $125 for all I think. Played with but still looked great. My brother found my Star Wars cards. Maybe with stickers never used. Awesome my friend! James
+James Gomez , glad you like the video. Any figure with rooted hair let air dry, the heat from a dryer would most likely damage the synthetic hair. Don't forget to subscribe ✌🏼
@TOY TINKER TIM Okay I wrote down about the pants dying and have actually bought that dye and have about eight pairs of those pants with 8 dolls some 1's and some of the 2's. Now i saw you dab the pockets as well so how did the white stitching come out white and not the saphire blue?? Asking because I am all set to do this as I have done all the dolls hair and it looks so much better thank you. But really want to know about why you still have white seams on pockets???? I wrote down all steps of dabbing rinsing 3x's etc, a steam iron, cold rinse-great info. so just need the answer to that one question...Thank you. These videos were very helpful. I watched them a while ago and am now just getting around to doing it. I have the exact dye you recommended so I am all set and ready. Hope you see this. Thanks
Great restoration I will use these tips on my figure. What do you think would've happened if you submerged the pants in the dye ? Do you think it might've been too dark ? Great job
Thanks Francisco, hope the info/video helps. Knowing now that the dye did not absorb into the thread like the fabric it may be safe to submerge them. I think it's still safest to do multiple times in dye, versus one long soak or it may change thread color.
Edit: Sorry I read down the comments and saw what you told someone else so I will go for it and maybe that will happen for me too, if not oh well they will still be better than the purple.....
Great job. I just purchased rit color dye to bring back life to a gijoe green commander outfit it's the powder dye could 2 tablespoon in hot water work also and could I immerse it in the dye because these have no stitching. What's a quick run down steps to get it done right and not mess it up. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Great video
Thanks for checking out the video. A few things will be different with what your working on compared to this video. The fabric your working with is a very different blend of material and weight, so dye time and absorption rate will vary. Working with the powder version compared to liquid could be a variable too. I would recommend using the guide on RIT dye website: www.ritdye.com/how-to-dye/ I'm sure your project will go well!
How much were the price of these dolls back in 1977 or 1978. My sister got the doll with Mission Purse in 1977....I got the Steve Austin doll in 1978 where he holds the orange bar...
I got the Bionic Woman for my birthday in 1976 and it was $7.95 at K-Mart. Then I got the SMDM for Christmas. We lived in a very small town and there were no stores around. I got Oscar Goldman in 1977 for something like $1.99 on clearance at Bi Mart. They were THE coolest toys I ever had. I got Maskatron in about 1979 or so. I wanted the Fembot to complete the whole enchilada but they weren’t available any more and we didn’t get toys outside of birthdays and Christmas. I still have the SMDM and BW with bits and pieces from Maskatron and Oscar. That exploding briefcase was FIRE! I remember the neighbor girl got the Farrah Fawcett doll for Christmas the year I got SMDM and she used to make the dolls knock boots. And it wasn’t bad because they were married in real life. LOL! Great memories.
@@chevydude658 Knock boots....what does that mean? I remember I played with Jaime Sommers more and each time I did I had to be careful Mom and Dad did not walk in the room otherwise I would be punished....so it had to be played in secret. My one sister got the CINDI doll ballerina, and with my other sister's Barbie doll....CINDI was the doll to avoid. She was kind of like the geek or nerd because of her size compared to Barbie.....Barbie was perfect! I also wanted the Wonder Woman doll so bad and the Charlie's Angels dolls although the Charles' Angels dolls looked real cheap although I loved their van....
I was pretty pleased that the stitching did stay mainly white, there is a blue tint but very slight. Nothing other than steps shown in video were taken, but I believe there were a few of reasons why the white thread didn't take the dye well: 1) I think the pant fabric may be a mixed blend of polyester and cotton (the thread being 100% polyester) 2) The pants already had a color base for the dye to work from 3) Taking the initial 'dab' method of dye application versus letting the pants just soak for hours in a dye bath

I need to find three bionic woman skin arms. Would you know where I can get some?
ebay has the replacement and they came with dusting powder. I think mine came from the UK as that's the only place I could find them, I am in US.

Do you have any of these for sale ?
You do seem to have retained the white stitching on her pants. I'm not seeing how you accomplished that?

Interesting. Thanks! I'll give it a try.
Good luck, and it helps to have patience with the spot dyeing process.
hi what is the colour called. thanks Chris
