You have the one in a million Subaru. I have a 2012 Forester with 117,000 miles and she leaks like a sieve. 1 quart every 300 miles. The worse is it's leaking on the exhaust heat shield and every time I stop the cabin fills with burned oil smoke. Right now I'm hoping she bursts into flames she's worth more as a insurance write off then trying to sell it. I'd use the pay off to buy a good used Toyota Corolla.

There are no issues or problems with head gaskets anymore. They've completely fixed the problem with leaking head gaskets. That's quite awhile ago now. People have long memories of problems in the past. The new global platform is a dramatic improvement of the previous generation. Especially in the interior fit and finish and very good looking and a nice place to be inside. Subaru was named the best company by Kelly Blue Book in 2018. Consumers Reports named Subaru the best company for 2019. Mainly because of the new global platform Forester, Crosstrek and new Ascent 7 seater. The entire lineup for Subaru has the least depreciation of any company. The Crosstrek is the least depreciation after one year at just over 8% in its class. Crosstrek also was the least cost to own over a 5 year period in its class. Most all vehicles depreciation is over 30% over just one year. All luxury brands especially. Except for Porsche. There are quite a few different models that retain a high value after one year. The Honda HRV, only 10% drop. There were 4 Honda's out of the top 10 that made that list. Of course the Jeep Wrangler, which is a cult following for decades has one of the highest resale values too. Same as the Subaru Crosstrek. The Dodge Challenger has a high resale value also. Pick up truck value is high also for Toyota, and the American manufacturers made.
