I loved this when I was 13, and I still love it at 61! 🤣
Well what can you say Mike Batt a mastermind, and all the wombling songs he wrote still amazing today, added extra magic to my childhood thank you Mike and of course the Wombles!!!!
Memories of the golden age of life and Christmas and the music, films and tv, what a great time as a kid just felt like it always
underrated and rarely played at christmas
@@mickspastik4227 Really? You play Wobbling Merry Christmas at Easter? Well each to their own I suppose
I really like this eccentric British Christmas classic!! All day long!!
Classic Christmas song, deserves to be up there with Wizzard, Slade etc - Wombles songs were actually very good
@@claytonfox4107 I'm listening to all those old tunes. My 20 yr daughter and 19 son., Old times ' eh
Love this.My favourite all time Christmas song. It brings back so many happy memories.
I've listened to this fantastic song many times every christmas since 1975 and will continue to do so ,rock on wombles.
I was five, these guys were rock stars to me.
Arguably the most underrated British band of the 70s.
Loved the Wombles records as a child and still love them now. All due respect to Mike Batt for these well produced records, even my grandkids love 'em, say's it all really....
Christmas 2018. Still brilliant after all these years. It’s always been a tradition in my house since the 1970s to play this first on Christmas morning.
All day long we will wombling in the snow superb
Wow, that takes me back, I was 7 such magical memories 😊.
My kids loved the Wombles...so much part of their childhood in the 70's/80's. This is just great!
Smashes all other Christmas songs out of the frigging park!
Excellent 1970,s Christmas song
I used to watch the wombles as a kid.
my niece loves this song so much💟💟💟
I am beyond happy watching my favourite childhood memory ❤
Mike Batt sounds just like Bernard Cribbins who was the voice of the Wombles.
Love this. Doesn't get the recognition it deserves. We never hear it on radio at Christmas. I was 11 in 1974 when I heard this. Nice memories: mum, dad, and sisters.x
I still love this song and so do my kids now.
First heard this song with my Dad on his last Christmas before he passed. It’s now my go to Christmas song that brings me back so much joy and memories at this time of year.
Best Christmas song ever.
Am i just imagining it?.....or were people just happier back then?....much better times!
All the best Christmas songs came from the seventies ,maybe I think so because I was 10 when this came out , very happy days :-) .
I was 10 too. Let's see: Orinoco,Tobermory,Great Uncle Bulgaria,Madame Cholet,I can still nearly name them all!
Proud to be a Womble as I grew up in Wimbledon. :-)))
i HATE Christmas but LOVE the Wombles;they can do no wrong in my eyes! even a bloody christmas song.
1975 a great year for Christmas music...Greg Lake and the Wombles!
My childhood.
Impressive Xmas sound. Doesn't get enough air play
Ok I never have heard of the Wombles and I thought this was going to be a wizzard parody. I haven fallen into a deep 70s hole and I love it.
Is it sad that in my 50s I can still recall the words to so many Wombles songs...?!
You remember them Helen because although they were novelty records they were catchy, and very well produced songs.
Helen Birkbeck Not really because I do as well, know the words to a lot of their songs, and I'm 64 great group ,great times.
What a clever , innocent and wonderful Christmas song.
R.I.P. Elizabeth Beresford who past away on Christmas Day 2010, I loved your creations, the first three records I ever owned were Selling England by the Pound, Be Bop deluxe's Modern Music and this, I got them all for Christmas the year I got my first record player..
Classic Christmas song by the Wombles
The Wombles rocked!
Totally underated

This is enjoyable at anytime of the year ,
I'm convinced Roy Wood played sax for the Wombles.
Few wishes would be higher up my Christmas list, than to hear this on the radio, being introduced by the late Steve Wright. Ah, if only
Memories.. Good Memories.. X
Love this song !!!!! Wow the wombles havnt heard this song for yrs and yrs. !!!! Don't know why they have never put it on a Christmas album. !!!!
So many 70s hits featured a musical motif like that which kicks in at 2:06, sort of stopming effect.
December 75 was my first Christmas! Lol 😂
The important thing is....Mike Batt through The Wombles was/were a top act of the day.His/their timeless music lives on and gives a lot of pleasure to a lot of folk (of all ages) partic this track,A Seasonal Classic......................
+dw69ful yes! and what we didn't think about as kids is that we were learning about recycling and not littering!
Quite simply the greatest Christmas song EVER
My darling grand daughters love this x
Classic song my favourite Christmas song since I was 4
They were the Bay City Rollers after this... hahahaha
Very Underrated single, doesn't get enough air play. Reached an impressive N02 in the UK Chart.

My current ringtone love it!
I work with a guy who was a one-time member of The Wombles. Not sure what he played though.

This should be christmas number 1
I've never heard of this before...wish that my life had continued in such bliss.
womble for life come on u dons!!!!!!!
The Christmas song 2020 truly needs 🙏
I'm sorry, but this has to be by some distance the greatest Christmas song ever made.
under-rated Christmas song, excellent melody, not so worn out as a few I could mention
Yes it's the Wombles but this is actually a pretty decent tune! One of the long list of forgotten xmas pop songs that never get played year in year out, shame.
Visuals are so cheesy but I JUST LOVE this silly little song. I tune into you, you tune into me. It's a Bowie-esque concept. I listen to this every Christmas, happy December 1, 2018!
Still listening Christmas 2024! Merry Christmas, lovers of music and joy!
Wish this was played on the radio
This is the greatest piece of music ever recorded. Only a nincompoop (or perhaps some of the upper range buffoons) could possibly fail to appreciate this FACT.
They don't make songs like that anymore:(
The Wombles were Orinoco (Mike Batt) - vocals, piano. Wellington (Chris Spedding) - lead guitar. Tomsk (Les Hurdle) - bass. Bungo (Clem Cattini) - drums, percussion. Tobermory (Simon Chandler-Honnor) - piano, keyboards. Madame Cholet (Rex Morris) - saxophone. Great Uncle Bulgaria (Paul Peabody) - violin.
Superb!
I bet ALL the girls threw their knickers at 'The Womble's'!!! LMAO!!!!
they were the days , real christmas , 70s rule ,
v.v. funky i wish i could have seen them but wasn't born yet
ITS 2013 AND OCTOBER AND I'M WATCHING THIS AND THINKING "thats my childhood" because my mother recorded this on top of the pops when I was little just because we loved it that much

Just love the wombling Christmas ...Mike Batt also wrote Bright eyes for Art Garfunkel...not many people know that lol
Play it every year at Christmas. Memories of Christmas past .waiting for Santa to come and make your dreams come true . Family in and out for a small sherry or three. Would love one more Christmas like that
love this song
That's not the only thing. Madam Cholette is now the last surviving member of the Wombles after being captured by Special Forces back in 1987, she now lives in a cage deep inside Area 51 along with Alf and a small gang of Smurfs. We must save them!
He does this every FUCKING YEAR!
Remember you're a merry Womble.
American Apparel brought me here
52 years young and I still adore this song
