BOTH: Dude, you are giving yourself the answer! Take weird stuff and give it the science explanation. That's my favorite take on your channel
Yes, that sums it up perfectly!!!
Yup
Yes!
Agree!
exactly what I was going to suggest.
Severed frog heads that collapse into magnetars--and sing show tunes, could be a winner.
Sounds like an acid trip I was on, one time. 👀
Hell, I just like me some Michigan J. Frog story. Was expecting something along the line. Wasn't disappointed though (not with the singing frog).
Eureka!
If ever the question arises “Do I have to go weirder”, the answers is always yes!
Nailed it! He should always go weird
Oh yea!
I found a toad inside a wooden stump in my backyard. My brother and I, we were just kids exploring digging in an overgrown back corner of our yard. Our arms were almost a foot deep into the ground, ripping away chunks of the soft wood. It was fun, the wood was softened enough to rip by hand but still solid and crunchy. We exposed the side and face of a toad. Within a minute, it was chirping and agitated. It was surrounded by harder roots, it couldn't get itself free the way it came in. We struggled to get the wood away without injuring it. I thought maybe we were being too invasive at one point like we should just leave it alone. But it kept making noises and struggling. We went and brought my Dad. He was a little dismissive at first, kids just leave the creatures alone, but then he saw it for himself. He was able to break enough of the stump away and the toad came out, alive.
Now this wasn't rock, it was old spongy wood, but wedged, surrounded on all sides, there was a cavity and the opening we made, no other!
Perhaps it was hibernating and trapped? The roots swelled and encased it during the winter? This tree had been dead for years, maybe decade or more.
It may have to do with how HEAVY everything has been lately (not just your channel)... we were all happy to see something we could be momentarily distracted with.
Go weirder? Maybe. Maybe not. Whatever inspires the humor. I really think your humor is the selling point, whether it's genuinely educational material about cutting edge science... or entombed animals.
YES! I think Joe's best videos are the ones that have a perfect balance between Interesting Topic and Humor. I love all his Space/Science videos, but I really enjoy the ones that teach me something unique that I haven't heard of and does that with a bit of Joe-humor. Weird ones? _"I luv me sum weir sht me-self"_ I just hope this doesn't turn into woo-hoo videos all of the sudden. XD
Just keep doing what you are doing. You seriously remind me of my buddy Steve I grew up with.
He sounds amazing.
@@joescott-tmi doesnt he, though?
Perhaps he should look into extreme body modification and its potential in the future?
I think everyone likes to know the weird stories, like how people like morbid things. The thing is to keep it true and informative in the Joe Scott way.
Any video that has a “Believe it or Not” vibe to it then, yeah, we’re gonna eat it it up.
Believe it or not George isn't at home please leave a message at the beep
I must be out, or i'd pick up the phone, where could I be...
Believe it or not I'm not home
Joe Scott, Believe it Or Not... Nice sound to it :-)
Sorry about your kidney issues! For what it's worth, I watch all your videos, and "like" them all. You have important things to say, IMHO.
Had my first kidney stone about '93 when I was 37. About 11 am at work one morning I thought I felt some gas. By the time I got home I could barely walk from the stabbing pain. I was almost in shock. My wife drove me 5 miles to the hospital as fast as she could, which was not nearly enough. I walked into the ER holding my side and crying like a 3rd grader. Luckily the nurse recognized immediately that it was a kidney stone from his own episode a few years before, IV morphine gave me immediate relief. They gave me a bunch of paper cone-shaped strainers and told me to try to pass and catch it for analysis (which I did). I don't know if you have sand spurs in Texas (I'd bet on it) but that's exactly what it looked like, an old one, not a fresh one, with the spines all pointing in the same direction from when it passes from the kidney to the bladder. Generally there is little to no pain when it passes from the bladder to the toilet.
They gave me a pamphlet which told me that most people who have their first episode can expect another in about a year. They were right. It also had a list of food that could be the possible cause. Seemed like every food known was on that list. I had 5 or 6 episodes over the next 11 years or so. They last one was about 2004 and it was 7mm and had to be surgically removed. I started drinking about 5 times the amount of water I had been. Since then no more stones (knock wood). Good luck Joe!
Water. Yes yes yes. By far the most important part of managing kidney stones. I used to drink quite heavily (alcohol). My job at the time was building/ tearing down scaffolding. I never drank on the job, but would drink all evening after work until I passed out. This went on for a while (months). Anyway, one day I'm about 200 feet up in the top of a building that was being prepped to be demolished when my right arm started spasming. Fast forward 3 hours... I'm being driven to the E.R. and feel like im dying. They tell me I have kidney failure. The doc tells me that if I don't quit drinking alcohol and replace it with water, then I'll have to deal with kidney stones on a regular basis for the rest of my life. I took the advice. No problems.
"are you putting pop rocks and whisky in your coffee?"
"what can I say, I like my Joe a little weird"
I love all of the science/space stuff the most.
You did get me clicking with 'stoned' in your title...
Thank you for putting out amazing content! ❤️
Bro, I just want to say that I have been binge watching everything I see by your channels over the last few days. You are kind of a hero to me now. If you want to be weird bring on the weird. It's your personality that is awesome. Just keep being authentic Joe Scott.
Hey just wanted to say I love your videos! I hope (selfishly) that you never stop making them. Not just the funny and weird ones, but especially the really thoughtful ones where you dive into current world issues. Keep up the great variety.
Get weird joe, “Weirdness is a side effect of being awesome.”-Some random guy.
Joe Scott: “‘cause I’m into the weird stuff...”🧐🤣
Didn't Captain Hammer's fan club say that?
Me too!I'm a freak
I love the quirky and weird stories best, especially if it's something I haven't heard of before.
Don't go cheap Joe. You're the only youtuber who consistently produces interesting and engaging videos! I even enjoy rewatching old videos :)
Dude I love all your stories. Don't be so hard on yourself. Also, I hope you feel better. Weird is always good, people are drawn to the "train wreck."
Joe
Ever thought of doing a more in depth video on the double-slit experiment?
In particular what science means by the observer interaction and the woo surrounding the semantics of the term observer. Also how removing the recording connections to experiment detector the double slit wave form to not collapse. And how the double-slit delayed choice experiment may allow the observer choose to collapse the waveform or not in the future.
I was thinking the same thing, one of my favorite physics problems. That and the black hole information paradox.
I don't wish that on his brain. Thinking too hard about the delayed choice quantum eraser will really break your brain. Time in general is wack to think about.
Some weird stuff would be great. Thanks for taking me down memory lane with the dancing frog.
Hi Joe! IMHO your mystery videos are doing so well has two reasons. First, mysteries are interesting to most. A lot of us are driven by learning new stuff (or old stuff that has not yet been explained, but you hear different stories everywhere). Which brings me to the second reason: You present those mysteries (and also all other topics) in a very neutral way without to much taking sides and you research that stuff quite well. Which makes you a reasonably trustworthy source for stuff you find different versions and claims everywhere. Also: Get well soon!
This !
I'm a space/universe/physics kind of nerd, my favorites. So sorry about your suffering and hope you get some answers and course of treatment.
Not TMI, this is a service. Perfect description of the pain and some people need to hear that so they can better diagnose pain. Good on you.
Kidney stones SUCK. And I know the feel of "here we go" omfg do I. I thought I was friggin dying the first time, and yeah, once your body feels that the one time it reacts with screaming dread whenever you feel a twinge that feels even REMOTELY like it, drink LOTS of water. And weird is good, but then again I think everything you do is ok. Maybe a video about kidney stones? lmao. Be well man, love your content, never stop. You are the man.
When I felt like peeing ALL THE TIME it was a prostate infection. When I retired from work it was because I wanted to retire before I died -- kidney stone!
I went through it due to a med I was on. 1 full day in the ER, then to my GP, then 3 days in hospital with a morphine drip. When it “passed” it felt like a “ toilet bowl” flushed inside. Never felt the urge to pee that badly come on soooo fast! 🙄 The doc looking after me there told me, It’s the closest thing, that as a man, feels like childbirth!
Yeah man, that dread is almost the worst part. I feel that tickle at the end of the urethra and my blood pressure skyrockets. It last a day or two and then either goes away or the nightmare begins. I've had five of these damn things and I know more will come because the CT scans show I have others waiting in my kidneys like a time bomb. The worst.
Only thing worse than kidney stones is having surgery for a large one. Only thing worse than that surgery is afterwards finding out how they remove the stint!
@@Claytone-Records Amen to that! I'm 35 and have passed over 100 in the last 15 or so years...but the HUGE one that had to be surgically removed was by FAR the WORST!!
Yes, I like the science, space, & green energy stuff. Sometimes a quirky "I always wondered about this thing I heard" video is refreshing. To be honest, I'll let you slog through the research and I enjoy your writing and delivery. In summary, take us both where your mind dwells and wanders, because they are both interesting.
I love the little niche science story's, particularly the unresolved or open ended story's as they often spark small highly rewarding research sessions after your video's.
The weirder the subject the less I already know about it, I say go for it!
It's the algorithm. It's always the algorithm. Accept your destiny, kneel before your master.
My best advice: do what you love. There's nothing more appealing to me than watching a content creator that truly enjoys the content they make and shows genuine interest. I know that may not be the kind of advice you were looking for, but I can speak for myself that genuine interest and passion are what draws me to a creator.
I've also told as many friends that will listen about your channels!
Gustavo Flaubert: “Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work.”
... in answer to your “should I do more weird”
"...inspired Mel Brooks"
That's a nice way to put it
Yes, go weirder, it always makes the science more fun and interesting.
As someone that has had kidney stones 9 different times, has cut my foot up in a lawn mower, has had multiple broken bones, and 2 sinus surgeries, the kidney stones hurt far more than all of the rest of the stuff I mentioned. Good luck with it, and I hope you don't have any more.
Don't doubt your talent bro- your creative and thought provoking-congrats!
Love me some weird Joe! Go to the fringe man, hit the tunnels and caves of our imaginations. I'm tired of the same ol lame ol stuff. Be different Joe. Love your shows!
We love any Joe. Weird is just a bonus 😂
We love Joe because he is weird.
Also unsolicited advice from my stones experience : i was advised to chill on the sugar (mostly energy drinks, soft drinks). And excercise. And all the water.
Also, i put a splotch of lemon juice in all my water. Supposedly it helps stops the crystals from clumping and causing stones.
And honestly, so far so good. I've only had one stone since i started this. And this was after an insane workout (lacid acidosis is a bitch).
If your stone does make an appearance, let them treat it. Based on its composition they can see what is causing them (ie sodium, calcium etc malabsorption).
Just my two cents.
Good luck my dude.
I’ve found that beer has reduced my episodes from once every four years to once every six. Mine are NOT diet related. . . For years, my kidneys were on an eight year build and release cycle. . . Left, four years later, the right. Wash rinse, repeat.
When imminent, something that’s almost guaranteed to start a stone moving on its painful journey is extreme, unusual, heavy lifting, or a heavy fall (pushing a car out of a ditch; having a high speed bicycle crash, ditch digging for a hedge, etc). . .
I’m 60 and thankfully I have never had kidney stones. About eating more veg and not drinking coffee, as I got older, gradually, unintentionally I reduced my meat intake and switched to decaf coffee. For no other reason than it made me feel better. I no longer have the caffeine induced roller coaster energy levels and the veg diet makes me feel much more spritely. Just adding this in to cheer you up that although you are dreading loosing the things you love at the moment, some relationships are best moving on from. Especially if you feel your lover is kicking you in the kidneys.
That lemon juice thing seems questionable. But… shrug.
@@jimatsydney my guy... you cannot really add your 2 cents about kidney stones if you've never had them. also, this condition is genetic mostly, so your healthy eating hippie lifestyle had nothing to do with the equation.
@Adele Horn, yep you are right, since I have never had them my 2 cents is a bit devalued, just making the point it’s easier to make lifestyle changes recommended by your doctor if you feel there could be an additional silver lining.
Weird is awesome weird is interesting and weird is always something worth having a conversation over. So yes pls.
I loved the frogs in rocks video, and this one as well. My kids always look at me funny when I sing the "Hello my baby" song, and it's great 🤣. I think we all need a little weird and lighthearted right now, along with all of your other awesome videos. Thank you.
that's cool that your rock frog video is doing so well! You mentioned that people liked to comment on their local versions of the tale or that they'd even seen it themselves, I wonder if doing some folklore vids would work out.
I bet people like hearing their local legends referenced by a smart science-y dude like yourself!
Anyway, I like all your stuff so I am biased
soon: joe's third channel "X-Files"
👽👽👽👽
Yes plz
The masses love oddities. We're too pc to go to circus sideshows, but love to watch it on the Internet. Stick to your principles. All your videos are interesting
I just found your channel in December 2021 and have been binging your entire catalog. The severed head video is the one I specifically have *not* watched.
Its important that you stay around for awhile.
Your a great teacher and the numbers dont lie.
Should you get weirder?
Well, as good old Hunter S. said, "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
"The worst kind of stoned" is "being stoned to death for adultery". Just saying.
good point. um, do you ever do editing with a focus on stuff that most likely was not intended as offensive but might come off poorly? I might never be able to stop the verbal foot in mouth and refrain from shouting "I love Moorcock!" in mixed company when speaking of authors, but I would never want anything written to hurt anyone's feelings if there was time for an edit.
Theres a 'Weird' topic to do a video on.
That's honestly what I thought this video was going to be about!
Never had kidney stones then huh. Lol
Hojjat: with that comment, and that name, I fully suspect you are an immigrant from somewhere in the Middle East, where such practices are sadly, horribly common. I am glad you are now living in a society which is a tiny bit more civilized and tolerant... slightly, but still needing improvements.
You sound like someone with such a different perspective that I would enjoy knowing you.
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro" - Think that was another unmemorable quote form the The Freak Brothers in the 1970's. Go pro Joe, go pro.
The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers?
HST.
and also Hunter Thompson used the phrase. love the Brothers. Keep On Trucking. and is it just lately or has joe always looked so stoned?
I get shivers down my spine when I come across the good doctors words in my day to day life
Stolen from Hunter Thompson...
Sorry to hear about your kidney stones! I totally know how this feels!!! I have been battling a chronic UTI since October of last year :P . Sending you some big internet hugs!! Keep doing what you are doing. I look forward to Monday's because of your channel. Thank you Joe Scott!
3:11 I kept thinking about Michigan J Frog while watching Toads Found in Rocks. Funny you mentioned it.
Also, regarding what you "should do more of" - I think the mystery is indeed key. What's fun about that, is that it also ties in to your past about ghost hunting, and kind of in the same way too - it's not like you believe in the stuff, but it still makes a good story. A story worth telling and hearing, according to the analytics! :-)
People love their curiosities without a doubt, so many museums and subcultures built around it throughout history. 🤔
Hope the you are able to get the kidney stones addressed soon 😒
"I'm into weird stuff."
- Professor Joseph P Answers
joe rogan has entered the chat!
Joe, you'll find people like to learn. And your channel gives us exactly that. Entertainment and Facts. I had a sound technology lecturer once that told me he started including humor in his lessons and students paid attention more. Your comic timing is exactly that.
My favorite videos of yours are ones with lots of info, stories, jokes, and unique facts. It's not like the subject has to be something ultimate or spectacular.
Hey Joe! ❤ the channels!
I'm a retired RN who worked ER, so I've seen my fair share of kidney stones. Had MY one & only about a year ago. Women describe the pain as worse than childbirth when the stone is moving. Coffee will mainly cause the urge to urinate, plus it's best to drink clear liquids. We could always tell the person with the stone when they arrived because they did what we called "the kidney stone dance"... you know: unable to sit still, somewhat pale, bending & moving constantly. One guy crawled around in circles on the bed. Anyhow, good luck to you!
About the weird stuff. People do like fringe topics with weird content. But, your humor is what makes your channels. Keep it up & thanks for the laughs! (Loved the title of this particular video 😍).
I think it would be cool if he did a video on kidney stones but I dont want to make joe scared
Yeah, I was doing the squirm earlier today for a minute there. Not happy about that.
Ever watch the kidney stones scene in Dead Wood? I'm still cringing and I watched it two years ago! Such a great show!
Gary Anderson : I dislodged my most recent one (2014) on a 220 km bicycle ride on a racing bike that was essentially too stiff for me. Literally shook it loose. . . woke up at 3 a.m., with an “oh, oh”. . . Luckily, the dormitory where I was spending the night was a 200 metre walk from an Emergency Room.
Weird sells! You should make a “what does it feel like to die” video.
I second this!
This definitely sounds like a weird video he would/have put out.
IndiaMW81 and you KNOW Joe would deliver it to perfection!
You don't want to know what that feels like... Trust me
That sounds like an awesome idea
I definitely see how weird things gets you views and likes. However, I love your stuff on the modern space race, energy, and electric cars etc. So don’t overdo the weird stuff.
I love you doing weird topics because of the research you apply. Some people deliver stories and basically say 'and yeh. So that's weird', but you look into it on a deeper level. Honestly, I'll support anything you cover, but weird is always good.
I grew some questions and perspectives right in my backyard. and boy howdy once you stare right into the eye of infinity... even just a glimpse... seems to awaken a taste for the ever weirder abstractions and curiosities.
Seriously?
Where were you on Saturday mornings as a child?
Weirder? Oh, hell yes! It's 2020, bring it on!
Couldn't have said it better myself!
In fact: I didn't! 🤣
I'm with you too....
"The worst kind of stoned" women and homosexuals in Saudi Arabia disagree.
Lmfao.
I thought that might have been the topic here...or maybe he was going to talk about trying some strong weed
@@Scott-eg6wm I seriously thought it was going to be about the stonings in Saudi Arabia.
too soon? j/k lol
Let's go to a stoning. Local guy. Supposedly uttered the name of our lord.
I'd love it if you performed a vaudeville act, singing and dancing to "Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime girl . . ." I'd give it two thumbs up.
Only if he does it in green latex body paint and a top hat and bow-tie-collar.
My uncle left his fish tank out in the yard for the Winter, & when it thawed in the Spring, the fish came back to life!
So sorry Joe about your "stones". As a nurse and having had kidney stones, I can tell you truthfully that a man having kidney stone pain is the equivalent of a woman in labor pain. I worked in a trauma ER years ago when a man came in having severe kidney pain due to stones. His wife was very concerned as they had recently wed and were still on their honeymoon. After I told the man that his pain was likened to a woman's labor pain, he looked at his wife and said "we are NEVER having kids". Great idea about Ebay. Hope it turns out well. Stay safe and take care.
Joe Scott: "I like doing the weird stuff"
Me: "That's what she said"
Hey Joe, I find all of your content interesting. I like the mix you have and would be disappointed if the science stuff dwindled. I say, 1 part weird, 1 part science, 1 part conscience shaking. They may be mixed or enjoyed separately.
Hey Joe!
I'm a big fan of your videos and a long time viewer. Regarding your health. I've been predominantly vegan for the last five years after eating meat heavily my entire life. My wife and I both made the switch and honestly. Our health and energy levels improved. It's been really fun and exciting trying new foods and recipes.
It doesn't need to feel like you're sacrificing anything. I can make a veg version of almost any meat dish and I'd bet money that you'd have a difficult time telling the difference. Vegan meat alternatives are processed and not always super healthy but I'd still argue that they're better than meat and in your case won't cause kidney stones.
Try the beyond burger, try veggie ground beef, try seitan, tempeh, etc. All delicious, better for you and contain a lot of protein.
As far as coffee goes there's also a mushroom alternative to coffee that tastes fantastic and is good for you brain. There's a lot of products to choose from and my understanding is that they have less actual coffee in them than normal. Chicory coffee is another option or matcha tea.
All in all. I encourage you to try new things! You don't know how you'll feel or what you'll like until you've given it a chance. Keep an open mind and do your own research. All the best Joe!
I subbed for the space stuff, stayed for your personality.. still enjoy all the non-space related videos and TMI
Most UA-camrs will give you their real name at most when it comes to personal info. Joe tells us the health of his urinary tract. Joe is king.
I like the fringe stuff without the Ancient Aliens, "Isn't it possible?"
Also, kidney stones can go rot in hell. My grandma described it as the closest thing to childbirth she'd ever felt.
Yeah, I've been told the same but childbirth that lasts for 5 days or longer if you're unlucky! Talking from two episodes of kidney stones, hang in there brother! Best of luck Joe - Love the channel!
You're falling apart Joe.
Edit: I gave myself a thumbs up.
Most people on here are just science nerds. That's the thing though, most science nerds are geeks, we're into sci-fi and fantasy shit. Even if it's not real, it's cool and interesting nonetheless.
I'm 45 tomorrow!! As soon as you showed the first 2 seconds of the demolition cartoon, I remembered it!! I wanna be a kid again!! Who's with me??? 😛😛
So Joe, I've had kidney stones for more than half of my life (I'm 56 as of this writing). I passed them for the most part. I had to drive myself to Baptist in Beaumont, to Parkland when I was working a project in Dallas one morning staying at the Renaissance (I threw up twice while driving), drove myself to a bunch of hospitals here in Houston because of sudden "stone attacks". I've had two lithrotripsy procedures, two stone removals through the urethra and one surgical removal through my back. I've had different advise on removing tea, removing coffee, removing cokes, cashews, peanuts, spinach, milk and just about every kind of meat. Some suggest too much calcium, some suggest to little calcium. I've caught the damn things when passed (I kept one for years until I moved...it was pretty but lost it). I had them analyzed and given the recipe...just about always an oxalate with some minerals mixed in. I made real efforts on all those but my conclusion: most of this advice was bullshit. Your anatomy and the microbes living in you have a greater determinant on your own stones. The most perfect predictor for getting a stone is if you've had one. You're in the risk group my friend.
It's been 8 years since my last one (surgically removed here in Houston). After that stone I started taking Potassium Citrate daily. It's non-prescription and since taking it everyday, my every 3-5 years, alternating stones stopped. I know the feeling you're getting. I've had it so many times. I too used to carry some vicodin with me all over the country as I traveled (always keep that prescription bottle with you) and dread ever having to take it. The K-Citrate has something to do with free-floating radicals in your urine and the microbes that use them to create a shell that eventually becomes your stone but the citrate radical replace it and the buggers never get a decent house going or something like that.
Talk to your urologist. It doesn't work for everyone but it worked for me. I no longer worry about my diet or the color of the liquids I drink. Good luck stone brother...I know the hell you endure.

Watch it weirdo.
Sorry for being all fanboy, but I found your channel through Joe's and think you guys are great! Currently saving for my first E.V. because of your content. Keep up the great work!
We want everything simplified and in 15 minutes or less. Frogs 🐸 in rocks curious easy click for me!! you can connect a lot of the dots for us. Also hope you feel better
Disagree personally. If it’s an “answers with Joe” video the longer the better for me. I’m also much more interested in the videos he posts on science and definitely don’t want him to make it more simple.
if you haven't read the book series "We Are Legion (We Are Bob)" by Dennis E. Taylor I'd be very surprised. If you haven't i am 99.9% sure you'd love it, a video i would love to see is a view on some of the technology discussed in the book and how far away you think we are from achieving it. Such as human replicating tech, interstellar surge drive, bubble cities capable of floating in a gas giant, faster than light communications, and realistic andriods. Love your channel, my fiancee is a research scientist that works with Crispr and she has been getting into your weird stuff lately and its something we've both enjoyed sitting down and watching together, keep up the great work!
You just popped back in my feed and I realized that you are way more entertaining than the depressing stuff that's been on my feed welcome back Joe
Well just like you I also grew up with these big books about mysterious creatures, stories and occurrences and those 'real' mysteries and I love it when you dive into these topics that regular scientists just shrug of and explain these phenomena in a scientific way, so these topics that are on the edges between science and mysticism are quiet fascinating, especially if looked at properly without just blindly falling for them
Hey Joe! Just want to say that you are hands down my favorite UA-camr!! I hope you don't feel too disheartened that some of your recent videos aren't doing as well as you'd like. You are funny and hard working and very informative. Thank you (and everyone you've collaborated with) for making your channel possible. Just keep it up! You have a dedicated base audience and we got you no matter if your videos are popular mainstream or not. I want you to be successful too but I also want you to feel like you are valued too!
All the topics you choose are so well done that you are always entertaining ...
You have a great facility for sifting through odd histories and delivering with self-deprecating irony. We like you weird, Joe.
WEIRD WEIRD WEIRDER ... love it.
The weird science videos have always been a huge hit with me. It's not like all your videos have to fall under that category but I've always loved those. This is my go-to channel to get educated about non-mainstream science and I hope it stays that way.
I really liked the circus freak episode. You stayed really consistently on the point that they were real people without a lot of great options. Finding ways to reach back in time and empathize with those people back then is always a thing I remember when authors do it well. I'm not a history buff at all, but Carlin's history podcasts are a related example. He'll spend 20 minutes getting you to understand the plight of some doomed guy in a bad situation. I've rambled, but that's my point really. A narrative that can relate to you other humans needs and troubles might have something to do with a video's success.
The frog video is what made the UA-cam algorithm introduce me to your channel. It earned my subscription
"Do I need to go weirder?"...Joe, you can never be weird enough. Those far out stories are awesome.
Joe, when I see one of your new videos and the thumbnails I often think “will this be interesting?”, and I’m always pleasantly surprised that you can make seemingly mundane topics very interesting. Thank you
One of my favorite things about this channel is the variety. Just keep putting out videos that interest you and the rest will work out.
I personally have loved the past few videos you have done. Keep up the great work
You are the best. The comedy mixed with interesting facts is addictive. Great work sir!
All I can tell you is that your canker sore info changed my life, so, thanks.
I haven't seen your other video yet... but... When I first moved to Austin, at the rental house, we opened a closed pipe that had something to do with the irrigation system (it covered a valve) because we were looking for defects/leaks (long story about a water bill). When we opened the cast metal lid to the pipe, we found a live frog. No telling how long that frog had been in there, but probably at least a month.
Hey Joe, Great vídeo. Nice when you open up in such a natural way. Keep up the good work. I have to say I really enjoy your videos on both channels. Good luck at the Drs
Usually not commenting. I really appreciated this bunch of confident honesty. Chapeau!
You're a good explainer, storyteller, presenter... keep going sir.
Hi Joe, I hope the stones are behaving. You have a great channel, and an excellent way of presenting complex and challenging concepts, so I think you’re the best judge of the subject ideas. Your sense of humour is great too, and I’m wondering if that is the angle to keep us all begging for more. Channels like zefrank and bad lip reading seem to have a consistently high hit rates. Funny and smart, with a comedy concept as the focus. When you talk to yourself (or a tree) for example, is so entertaining. Thanks for being you mate, you’re awesome :)
Joe:
Regarding your health, I wish you the best of luck. As someone who gets kidney stones frequently, I just recently have a relevant story. As a man in my mid-20s, I had been getting kidney stones ever since I was a child. Yet another thing I can blame on my physical situation, being wheelchair-bound, but I digress. I used to get them like clockwork every March, and this year was no different. It was, however, exacerbated by the fact that I had been dehydrated due to it being relatively hot where I live and that I sweat considerably. Finally, after 8 years of the cycle repeating, I finally said goodbye to my kidney and had it removed. It was the problem child of my body and the other one works just fine, so I felt like it was just necessary to have it removed.
I hope that your situation doesn't ever become so dire, but if it ever were to, my only advice would be to do your best to come to terms with it at your own pace and in your own way. Personally, I felt like the situation could escalate and I value a healthy life over having 2 kidneys. I wish you the absolute best of luck, my friend!

Hey, Joe. Name's Ryan. I enjoy your videos and often include my wife & two sons, 13 & 19, in watching them with me. Keep your spirits up at all times, my friend. Because you're doing extremely well with your subject matter, despite what the "stats" show you. An idea for a subject, maybe those weird sounds heard around the world in the sky & on radio stations occasionally. Sounds like two tanker ships colliding & metal noises, or loud deep trumpet sounds.
Aside from that, I'm so sorry you're in pain. I understand. I cared for my father who was suffering from a kidney stone the size of a large quarter, when I was around 13 yrs old. He was fortunate enough to have known a friend at the MAYO Clinic who got him in for the sonic treatment, high frequency sound waves broke it into 3 pieces with gravel. So sorry you have to suffer. Seek out available treatments, my dad's was in 1989. Hopefully they've made progress in ways og dealing with these thorny calcium stones from hell.
i like when some of your videos are about things other than hardcore science (even tho those are why i’m a sub) so that when i’m the best kind of stoned i can still follow along. future ideas, strange phenomena, crazy history facts. teach us everything!
