Tag 9 | Set no 5 | Offset 6
Answer for last one:
No of cache lines=128= 2^7 B
Line Size / Block Size = 64 = 2^6 B------> Offset = 6
No of sets = 2^7 / 2^2 = 2^5 --------------> set No. = 5
Tag bits = P.A bits - Set No. Bits - Offset
= 20-5-6
= 9 ------------->Tag Bits = 9
Tag:9bits, set:5bits, block-offset:6bits
tag : 9 , set no: 5,offset :6
Answer of Question at 9:12
No of Cache Lines = 128 = 2^7
Line Size / Block Size = 64 = 2^6 Words => *WORD* = 6 Bits
No of Sets = 2^7 / 2^2 = 2^5 => *SET NUMBER* = 5 Bits
Tag = P.A bits - Set No. Bits - Offset = 20-5-6 = 9 => *TAG* = 9 Bits
9 tag , 5 set, 6 offset
He has to mention whether it is word-addressable or byte-addressable .In the second case since 1 word is 2 bytes 8-5-7 will be the answer. In the first case, 9-5-6 will be the answer
Very important and useful course.
Interesting: (four block) sets.
9 TAG | 5 SET | 6 BLOCK OFFSET
