💯ditto From an American colleague. *Poland has come such a long ways since Chancelor Helmut Schmidt, democratic socialist, made endless trips their to cement brotherly relations between the two nations. This seemed impossible given the fresh and problematic(+) histories between the two. I mean the nazi atrocities, but then as revenge the forced expulsion of Germans from vast regions like Schlesien. But behold: Poland thriving and close, fraternal relations with one of the hereditary enemies... the other being Russia (!). A transformation of Poland that Europe and we all should celebrate and count as a kind of political miracle. Vive l'Europe unie et libre!! **FranzTunder. Am SO glad he has risen from the abstract status of "pre-Buxtehude" and therefore played only for academic reasons. BUT. Every one of the compositions that have reached us thru copies (of copies) is of the highest invention, form, musicality, spirituality. Bach was greatly influenced by him I read not long ago. It shows in Bach's tone painting of a text, and in his more mature tight form. The 3 g-minors and the 1 f major: just wow! But also the chorale-based works. Christ lag in Todesbanden OMG. You go from an unbelievable prophecy to the risen Christ who is beyond-alive and full of blinding light. One "sees" Him arisen thru this music. Let me send you an ideal recording. ***You probably know the 20th c. German composer, Hugo Distler. In so many German cities and villages I stumbled across a Hugo-Distler-Srrasse. Rightly so. Although he had plenty of loyal friends who could have got him thru till 1945, the relentless pressure and deep depression got the best of him. 1942 (pacem). Do I dare send you my own recording of Jesus Christus unser Heiland, der den Vaters Zorn von uns wandt? I will definitely send an incognito recording by a venerable U.S. organist who played well into her 90s. She loved her students like César Franck did, and thus had great influence over us all. Cheers, congrats! Mark
Here's a playlist I suggested in a reply to one of the comments. It's my best shot at a little more than just a "thanks" for such unique programming here. And more than that a repayment not in money but from the soul, for the hard work of arranging to perform on an instrument that truly deserved to be lifted out of its incognito status, and brought to the attention of the world. The sheer travel involved! And then the good-enough practice each time on an unfamiliar instrument whose access depends on the good graces of people we have usually never met. Hopefully there is something new, or freshly delightful, or instructive here! Cheers, Mark ua-cam.com/video/YhAHMt055os/v-deo.htmlsi=DK1J0doBeSpHn3Qj ua-cam.com/video/4cgah36tS0M/v-deo.htmlsi=Gy9qMWHd24fH5_v4 ua-cam.com/video/mJUc_-Vnm6g/v-deo.htmlsi=5fJFxS6SHP24YmJE ua-cam.com/video/dbBBW9qaTP4/v-deo.htmlsi=ruejuJYn0PfIrqfb ua-cam.com/video/b6iV74T1a2w/v-deo.htmlsi=WLXu1xBxna6JvdR7
