Trippier as 'captain' should not be going against club policy, it's not for him to criticise and emphasises how important it is to move on the older players who are losing/ have lost their hunger. It is disappointing to see Dummett and Ritchie on the trip too - that can only mean one thing, an incoming contract renewal for bed-blockers

Almiron, Wilson, Dummett, Richie all have to go to generate squad space, fees and wages. I’d also sell Wilock if a decent bid came in. Still need a proper CDM and the two CBs on frees would be a nice early start to the window
Should buy a CDM like Onana and move Bruno as a proper No. 8. Would solve 50% of our defensive issues.

Bruno and Isak will definitely be here next season. After that, depends on our progress. That applies to Eddie as well. I'm quietly confident. If West Ham can win the Conference, we certainly can. I want to make this absolutely clear, I adore Eddie Howe and his team. I want him to be here a very long time and build a winning squad/Legacy. With that said, i will be really dissapointed if Ritchie and Dummet get contract extensions. They have been loyal servsnts to Newcastle and will be remembered fondly. As a lot of people said. If they stay in a coaching role that would be great too! But we need to be looking to the future and upgrading not just on the first team but the squad depth as well. Thanks for all the content this year Paul and team, love the channel!

Trippier wants a move for personal reasons, Dummett and Ritchie are good people, Wilson will have longer injury periods next year, Ashby shows no signs of being better than either Krafth or Livramento. Now there's a few hundred grand in weekly wages to work with.....

i think the trip is more to boost the club profile than any tests of the squad so not really surprised they are taking wilson and tripps, even if they are on the scrap heap.

Dougie Freedman would be a great first "signing" to kick start, he has managerial experience as well and would understand what Eddie needs.

Eddie would get him playing and hes much better quality than anderson, longstaff etc and better infront of goal than half the midfield

Totally agree with your sentements RE: Dummett and Ritchie mate. I agree we need to keep players at the club who are positive in the dressing room but not guys who have zero chance of playing. We need other players to step up and fill the void in that respect, and what do we do? Keep them on until theyre 40 because theyve got a bit of charisma? Na, as with anything its that happy medium and for me, theyre both miles away from being PL players. They need to go. Ritchie could always stay on as a coach?

That makes perfect sense then. They are upgrades on some of the players we already have. If they can be brought in for no fee, that means the money can be spent on the fee for a new forward.

Barkley for the squad? I'm down with that.
Hopefully Isak and Bruno arent going and we can build a team around them. With the UEFA rules in the A squad we can have a maximum of 25 players of which 4 have to be club grown and 4 association grown. Players under 21 go in the B squad. We only had 2 players that were home grown in the A squad for CL namely Sean Longstaff and Paul Dummett so we only had 23 man squad. This time we would have 4 players if Dummett and Longstaff stayed with Anderson and White now 21. So there is a little logic in giving Dummett an extension to make the squad numbers up but personally I am the same as you use youngsters from the B squad like Alex Murphy and Lewis Miley rather than give these players extension. If we are in the conferance it makes more sense to blood younger players in the early stages of this competition rather than say in the CL if we get it the season after next or even the PL. For me Ross Barkley would be a yes on a free for 1 season to see what he can do. Would give more depth and can also play as more as a 6 releasing Bruno more and would be good cover for Tonali until he came back after the first 2 or 3 games.

I had Feyenoord on a betslip and watched their last game of the season... Minteh came on as a sub and looked sharp; i think he might be loaned out again next season, but I would give him a try if players are leaving

Dummett and Richie may be needed on a Wednesday evening kick off off in Talin or Gothenburg in December. I understand bringing the youngsters in, but if I recall can home produced youth players be over and above the squad anyway?
Having to keep these players due to volumes of games and FFP should show these people who think selling Longstaff is a good idea will not happen. He’s a good lad, local, plays through the pain and gives his all, people need to get behind him and appreciate what he brings.
I can see Eddie’s footprint in the transfer rumours. We will not win anything if we keep targeting Championship level English players.

Barkley has always played well at St James Park, as far back as his Everton days, he always excelled here, I think he would be a great signing
Considering how our bench has been when have had injuries i think Dummet and Ritchie are a wise squad choice as we wont be bringing in 6/7 players so if we do have any setbacks the bench at least has them 1 more season wont do any harm and with possible ffp changes incoming it may allow to buy more the following season than incoming season

Those who played at any level know, certain characters in the dressing room can boost every player another level. I think this may be their influence. I hear you, not as players but I think that is their benefit to the squad.

I wouldn't read too much into who is going to play a friendly in Australia, that does not guarantee we keep those players and the transfer window does not open until June 14th.
Dummett and Ritchie should be let go, not give them a contract extension, this reeks of Eddie keeping his favourites around., when will Eddie learn to be more ruthless 🤦 we need to progress forwards not go backwards.

I agree with these comments on Dummet and Ritchie. But this statement I've been seeing about ridding ourselves of Ashley era players is a bit broad. By that logic, players such as Joelinton and Murphy would need to be gone, which would be self-defeating. We just need to keep the contributing/value players and move on from those who no longer are up to the standard that NUFC holds. It's nothing personal to these players, and they've been good stewards of the club and represented the badge well, but now we move on to give new and better players opportunities.

If you ditch MR & PD where are the 8 Homegrown players going to come from? You mention academy players which is great except if they are U 22 years old you don’t need to register them.

The trip to Aus is pure marketing, I'm sure none of the players or management team really want to go. I'd imagine some of the higher paid players have clauses in their newly-agreed contracts to say they would take part in the marketing exercises (as they will be the draw cards for these promotional matches). The rest is just a mish-mash of fringe and youth, there to make up the numbers. I don't think we can really read too much into who goes and who doesn't.

ive been screaming everytime dummett got on the pitch last year as to why is he playing over a youth player like Alex Murphy. Dummett has been a great servant but everytime he gets on the pitch ahead of a youth player its setting our youth players back.

Re Dummett and Ritchie - this is going to be tied in with the training ground routines - they are obviously so valuable in that environment which Eddie has expounded on a lot. Eddie and the club are not idiots - there is a method in their plans I'm sure. They academy graduates are always training with the first team lads anyway!!!
