I picked this book up based off of your recommendation (probably will get to it later this year or next). How would it compare to Ben Bova’s Grand Tour series? Pretty similar?

Fairly similar, although this I would categorize as even more realistic.

Have you read any Stephen Baxter or Alastair Reynolds? Both scientists, both great British science fiction writers.
