I was born in '51. As a little girl my father told me about the Holocaust! My heart broke for the Jews and all that perished and suffered in the camps! My Father was Irish/American, my mother was German/American! I was so close to my Dad, my mother was a Bi-polar mess! Only cried for the destruction of Germany! We children weren't allowed to watch "Hogan's Heroes". It was my favorite show! 😂
The wrong side won the war. And your mother was right. As the world has discovered, America is the big bully constantly picking on much smaller countries, bombing them and killing civilians all while moralizing about liberty and democracy on their high horse.

Ugh, too bad your mom was so screwed up. I was born about the same time, and the world was just inundated with post-war everything.
As a kid from the 80s. Watching hogan's heroes was one of my favorite shows. Still watch today.
